I canned up 24 pints of mixed fruit a few weeks ago. I had been eagerly waiting for peach season to arrive to do it. I can tell anyone..once you have home canned fruit cocktail, you will NEVER want the store bought again! Thanks for all your videos..I appreciate them!
SARAH COURTNEY...Thank You for sharing, and yes waiting for peach season will give you the tastiest product !!!!
Thanks for taking the mystery out of fruit cocktail. That leftover syrup will be used too. That with some ice, carbonated water from my Sodatream and a little lemon juice will make a refreshing beverage.
2Tone...It's a bit of effort, but well worth the end result!!
Mandarin oranges would be a great addition. ❤
I just love the Mandolin playing in the background. One of my favorite instruments….just beautiful to listen while watching you. Very relaxing….and your fruit cocktail is fabulous!!! Beautiful….
Cbass...Many thanks!
So pretty! When my children were home during peach canning season I would can fruit cocktail. Always trying to extend our grocery budget…canned fruit was pricey then. I added grapes to mine as well…you brought back great sticky memories Toni…lol Home canned fruit is far superior to anything store purchased…enjoy your tasty dessert!
Linda CeeTee...I don't think i extended my budget this time, but yes homemade is better than anything I can buy so sometimes it's worth the extra! Thank You!!
They look so cute…..a great gift to give away. I think this will be my next project with my grandson.
S Brumfield...yup, they are great "single serving" fruit cups...
Thank you for sharing!!! I want to make my own too as I live in a place where I can harvest fruit or get it at farm stands very inexpensively! And you used the same jars that I want to use ... fruit cup size!
caela levy...that sounds great, and those jars are not cheap here, I believe in the range of $8.00 for 4....But I was lucky and found a bunch of unopened packages at the thrift store, I bought every package they had...they are gorgeous jars!!!
Nice idea for a refreshing dessert or side dish idea. Thanks so much. It looks so pretty in the jars.
teri mckinney...Thanks so much! 😊
Those are so pretty Toni, another great idea
Penny Grant...Thank You!
Awesome! They are lovely!
Janice Seigler...Thank you! 😊
Thanks again. I make fruit cocktail this morning. Very yummy and very pretty.
I will try this. And I think I will try to can my favorite fruit salad. It has a honey lime syrup.
Sitting in Emerg, watching your videos while i wait my turn!
Looks good, Toni!
Beautiful jars ❤
Deborah's This & That...Ouch!!! Hope it's not terribly serious!!!
watching your video after dinner as I jarred up some B & B pickles today. Had enough for6 jars. Toni. That fruit cocktail looks beautiful. If I. hadn't had peaches, I would've jumped through the screen! Those jars are just perfect. We eat our fruit cocktail with a tad of vanilla ice cream. I've never made my own but might give it a try with just maybe a single cherry quartered for color for each jar. Thanks for posting. Take care.
Linda B..The vanilla ice cream topping would be great too!! fresh fruit is in season now and it's a good time to can some up!!
Absolutely lovely
Harriet Martens...Thank You!!!
That looks absolutely delicious. Keep smiling God bless.
Walk with Me! Homestead...Thanks so much
What a wonderful idea! You have a way of thinking outside the box! I always make jams, jelly or preserves; I never thought about just fruit and syrup like store canned fruit. 🤦🏻♀️ lol (I love this channel)
Gidget Hale...Thanks so much! 😊
Beautiful..love fruit cocktail..great video thanks
You're welcome!!
Thanks for the video! I save my leftover syrups to mix with soda water into a fruit soda, or flavor iced tea.
Lurker Smurf...Those are also great ways to use up the syrup!! Thanks !
I would be pleased with the results too. I think I’ll get out for some fruit as well.
Annie Davis...Thank You!!!
Great job lady.I love it, very simple and looks very delicious. Thank you.
Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you. I just learned how to pressure can. I've already canned potatoes twice, ham and carrots. I was looking for a homemade dessert I could can. This may be it. Thanks
Diamond Aries..With fresh fruit in season..It's a great desert to can up!
Thanks, Toni, defiantly trying this. But I will add a few grapes to the mix.
Sounds great!
Thank you. I’ve made this today and they look great❤️
Hope you enjoy
Hi, the remaining fruit heavy syrup could be used as a marinade for meats, for making jellied fruits. I would have used the syrup when making a cake or muffins, or add un-flavored gelatin and have homemade gelatin. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Yvonne Diane Luke..Those are all great Ideas, Thanks for sharing!
This batch may not be cost effective, but now you know what you can do if you have extra fruit. 👍👍 the pineapple lead to fruit cocktail, the fruit cocktail will lead to something else, having the knowledge is what's important.
Gidget Hale..Yes, and having all those little jars full of yummy goodness is great too!!! lol
Great video . I would've used the reserved liquid to make tea with .
Great Idea!
It’s probably more cost Effective than you realise! It stops you throwing it away! Well played I think! x
Looks absolutely lovely! But I'm curious why only water bath for 10 minutes? Thanks :)
I went by canning time recommendations for the items and size!
Me: thinking of myself as a pretty experienced canner
Me: seeing her place the HOT jars into the hot water BAREHANDED
Also me: 😮😮😮 dang queen
Hi this looks so good. I have mangos, strawberries, plums, apples green and red, blueberries. Do you think this would be okay? Thank you 😊
perhaps the mangos and definitely the blueberries should be fine..I think that commercially packaged fruit cocktail contains certain fruits because they can hold up to the canning process. It's always worth a try with a small batch to see if you can get the results you want!!
Hi good point. Thank you I learned from your video 👍💕
Hi I made it today, peaches, pears, pineapple and the cherries like you did. It is delicious. Thank you.
You could have saved the simple syrup and used it in fruit tea, lemonade ect.
true!
Did you add vinegar? Should this be stored on shelf or refrigerator?
this is sweet fruit cocktail. NOPE, No Vinegar...It was water bath canned and is shelf stable
The pineapple is acidic enough that additional acid shouldn’t be necessary but you could add lemon juice to the syrup if you were concerned.
What are your liquid mixture made of?
Ah, a sugar water syrup, like you would make for canning peaches...you have a choice of a light, medium or heavy syrup...based on the amount of sugar you wish to add...I usually go light to medium!
