- This is a compilation of Eli Tomac and Jeffrey Herlings racing against each other. The biggest question in modern day motocross is who is best rider in the world? Eli Tomac or Jeffrey Herlings? We were treated to a couple races at the end of 2017 where we got to see a glimpse of who might be the best rider in the world. Jeffrey Herlings certainty made a strong case for himself at the final round of the Lucas Oil Motocross Series. Eli Tomac Tomac responded a few weeks later by dominating the first moto of the Florida MXGP. The second moto Herlings dominated. That day they were very even in my opinion. Herlings has beat tomac 7 out of 8 times , all races in the usa , if they were racing outside the usa tomac doesnt stand a chance.
Put Herlings in a Supercross track and he'd ride himself into the stands.

"in my opinion they were pretty even that day" yeah sure, but in general, Herlings is stronger. it's just because you're american you don't want to admit it.
Id rather do mxgp over nationals its just so gnarly and everyone is a beast

Dirt biking is such a great sport, no where else do you see a rider or player fixing his bike mid air to stay competitive. If it was the nba and a sweatband moved got to call a timeout
Herlings would wipe the floor with everyone if he came to the US
Until we has a bad crash and has to sit out a few rounds and end up losing the championship like almost every year
@@calebbaker8353 he wouldn't have to push as hard to win in the nationals, plus the tracks are no where near as rough and dangerous

I don't think he would. Put him on a Supercross track and his riding would be worthless.

Watched this race live and hurlings made them all look slow.
I was there too. Herlings is on another level. I think Tomac is as well.

Tomac - Herlings score is 1-7 on US tracks , fmotp in MX is Herlings when healthy and fit there is no doubt

Yeah I didn’t feel that was a good Moto to show since Tomac was cruising since his championship was still on the line. Tried to only use legit comparisons.
I agree. I’m from Holland and Herlings fan. But Tomac was riding smart. He didn’t went all out. A win is nice but a championship is better
@@nils2118 true , same goes for Herlings at Charlotte where he had to race for title , won moto 1 and lost moto 2 to Webb and Forkner ... just didn’t care

The fact that Herlings destroyed Tomac even when every single factor was stacked against him(new series, new climate, new bike, no time to prepare etc.)... Honestly, on their best day and a level playing field, this isn't even a debate.
I don't mean to be rude to our American friends here, but if Tomac was born in Europe I doubt he would be famous :/
All I can say is herlings won and tomac didn't, that's what the result and that's all there is too it
No doubt about it, European riders outdoors are fast as hell
I think tomac also has proved he is just as fast and could have been successful in the mxgp if he tired
@@sterben4958 the ones he raced were also the USGPs, de he did have home field advantage with those. RV also proved that when you go to a different place with new tracks and new competition, it’s difficult to adjust

In my observation tomacs skill is more superior over herlings...but because herlings machine is of more in good condition than that of tomac...those are were the result...had tomac used the yamaha..he might have beatin herlings.....

I think it comes down to who is "on" on any given day. They are both moto beasts . .
Herling's has won 7/8 of the meetings between the 2. All on Eli home soil.

The level of MXGP riders is unmatched at the moment.

@@shrimpshow5458 This is a never ending discussion for US motocross fans. You always bring up the subject of supercross, coz that's all you have. Tim Gajser showed up for your supercross tracks and ended up fifth without much of a chance to train. It is pointless to talk about "but supercross" when we are in a motocross video comment section. Even Roger De Coster has admitted that European level of motocross is way ahead, for many reasons.

Very hard to say. I wanna say Tomac because I’m a Tomac fan but I really don’t know. They are both insanely talented.

On a track both of them don't know, I would say herlings, cause he finds his smoothness faster on new tracks, like u can see at the arena cross, tomac usually shows his speed at the midrace till the end, but if herlings is allready gone, tomac doesn't has the speed to catch up, cause their speed is similar,But I just guess

Right now Tomac. Herlings has been out all season but he's known for when he comes back he is better than anyone. When herlings fit he'll probably win on any even little sandy track. The hard tracks will be exciting. Still I think he is better but I like the battle. Tomac is a real contender. Sad to see herlings crash out so much. He could break the 10x world champ. But he is just too inconsistent with his titles. He needs to ride a gear slower to not crash but still win.
