    This is why I continue to return to your channel, for you to sit down and take a serious moment to explain how dangerous things can go if they are new and also to some of the seasoned hobbyist to speed runs and want to do exactly what you are doing (overcharge, heating lipo) and they do not truly understand their charge, lipo, time for heating etc. I will just stick to my unboxing and little speed run (out of the box) and maybe a little more power (Hobbywing, Mamba Monster, Hobbystar) for my enjoyment. I will Continue to enjoy watching you and your team achieve new PB's, new products. You are a awesome mentor to your friends/team, to bring in new members and celebrate their accomplishments and fails. Thank for the awesome video.💯💯👍👍👍👍

    Heating lipos is dangerous and I'm glad you gave a disclaimer. 110 degrees is the sweet spot pre run, IR will go down, amps will go up....building a safe heating stating for even distribution of heat is so important as you know I'm sure.
    Raz, considering soldering an additional set of leads onto your batteries for more speed in extreme setups. Not talking out of my a$$ on this, considering the current you are pulling and the wire gauge you will understand immediately that extra leads will effectively drop the IR of the pack under load. Won't affect the cell chemistry obviously but the mechanical conductors and resistance can be brought down with...an extra set of leads soldered onto the main.
    Lehner motors and Schulz have been doing this for 20 years.

I am amazed more company's don't stress checking ir or any kind of lipo safety at all. Mite help alot of people to do a video on lipos and charging and safety.

    Much respect for the commentary/warning/advice about the batteries. I agree 1000%. Heating up your battery to lower the IR or overcharging your battery is definitely not a shortcut or a "easy way" to go fast. Some of the questions I see on Facebook sometimes make me nervous. People asking how to build 150 mph car... They want to skip right over 75 mph 100 mph 120 ,140. They're under estimating what it takes as far as skill understanding preparation. I've been nowhere near 150 mph but I definitely wouldn't try to start there that's for sure.
    Anyway great video as always keep up the great content.

    • @andyvannort2743
      @andyvannort2743 Год назад

      Well they aren't actually "starting there" they just did a build that's CAPABLE of that. They're still starting off low geared and hitting low numbers before 150. So know when they ask about a 150mph build its because they wanna buy a motor that'll hit that number AS WELL.... not build something that can only do 100 then have to buy new parts and relearn everything since you changed its weight and aero

    • @blindj
      @blindj Год назад

      @@andyvannort2743 that makes sense also but I've seen plenty of scary questions on FB. People not knowing anything about RC and want to do 100 mph right off the bat. And some may not see that as an issue considering you can easily buy in 80 mph car right off the shelf. I just think some people underestimate the skill it takes to drive in RC car at 80 mph safely. It's a 13-pound 80 mph missile. Some people just want to do too much too quick.

  • @maxxm.108

    For experiments with lipo, you need a safe place above all. Your lipo can give up at any time, you can't predict it. Such charging under full control, preferably outside the building.

    First of all Raz, I’d like to say I love your videos mate. Bloody awesome! And it’s great you mention from time to time the safety aspect of what we do, especially when using & charging lipo batteries (I know; I nearly burnt my house down and ended up in hospital with burnt fingers!). However, one thing I notice you guys do, which is super-dangerous, is stand in the road/runway while you’re doing a pass. In this video you show what damage a rock hit by a speeding RC car does to a real car. Well I tell you mate, if an RC car gets airborne and hits you in the head at 150mph, you’re history. I’ve seen RUclips videos of people hit by cars and ending up in hospital, but those cars where ‘only’ doing 90 to 100mph. I recon you all should review your driving safety positions before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. Not being a kill-joy. Just giving the heads-up so everyone stays safe. Keep up the great work mate. Cheers. Jack

    Great stuff as always Raz- 199mph is amazing! thanks - Take note of what he says about lipo batteries folks, because of a cheap charger and a damaged parallel cell I've had a lipo fire and it really isn't nice having to choose between burnt hands or a burnt house, I was lucky and got away lightly with the former after throwing the burning pack out of a window and putting out the carpet that had bit's of burning lipo battery debris spread about - but if I hadn't heard it go pop and explode it could have been so so much worse!

    Have you thought of integrating two small Estes model rocket engines into the shell of the car? Program a trigger to the remote where once you pass 90% throttle or whatever you feel the threshold is it ignites them. A way to contain control of the car is to make a spoiler that's tilted by a servo. I have seen major improvements in downforce. You can also make a tillable front lip via servo that increases stability.

    How does heating batteries help speed runs? It lowers the internal resistance but it doesnt increase voltage so, im not sure how that would help speed if your just throttle pinned down a runway? We heat our batteries in RC racing and it makes it feel more punchy, but that's about it. We also do this with top-of-the-line charging equipment and top-of-the-line batteries. Would be scared to try it with all those cells and being pushed by those huge motors and pinion gears.

    Why would you ever "overheat" your batteries? Yes heating lowers IR, but "over" heating is killing your batteries and asking for trouble. (and since your not killing your batteries, you're not overheating them) Raz, I would say you are not OVERHEATING your batteries, but just heating them up. All racers were doing this for years when I raced oval until they banned it.
    Good video, thanks for sharing. Oh, and a question: All this custom cars/parts/etc, why not make a streamline car, like half the width, twice as long with low drag body, it would be 1/4 the drag?
    I believe the biggest fight you have is drag, work on that.

    Overcharging the batteries should probably be the last resort to squeeze the absolute max out of your build before you call it quits and move onto another one.
