I would prefer evermore to have a darker and slightly more realistic look to the visuals. I don't want to feel like I'm playing as a 4 year old boy lol. Pretty sure the evermore kid was a young teen at least... Over 10 at least. He was going to a theater that allowed dogs without a parent after all lol.

Ahhhh the nostalgia, its grips me. So many hours. I came back to this a few years back, after not playing it in many years, I knew where the first petal was. :D
I agree with you. My friend would spend hours trying to convince me how much better SoM was. After playing SoM for several hours, and him even showing me his save file near the end of the game to try and 'wow' me, to no avail. Secret of Evermore is still in the Top 10 for 'RPG's of All Time' personally.
I wouldn't want a full remake but I would love to see this game re-released in some form, either on Wii U VC or on 3DS as a retail title, but keeping the same music and graphics. More people need to experience this wonderful hidden gem.

It's very good! I haven't played this game but the soundtrack is great! Very similar to the styles of Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono series) and even Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts and some Mario RPGs).
One of the best and original aspects of this game is the alchemy system. Absolute pure genius! When I was a kid, I always thought of what 2 ingredients you could mix in reallife to get a similar effect. Example: root + water = heal (plants recover and grow); wax + oil = flash (cover wax with oil, light and toss at someone you dislike); crystal + clay = hardball (stick crystal in a mould of clay and aim at someone's face). SoE just doesnt get enough credit (maybe exchanging to talons might help!)
I think I like the Pirate's Theme better than any track from Skyrim. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but that song is awesome. Makes me want to wrestle a mermaid.
It was Soules first work basically. Often a great artists work is his earliest stuff. When he's trying his hardest to proof to the world he's something special.
Beautiful stuff, one of the only square games that I really really love. Never been of a fan of jrpg style games because they usually come off as forced emotion. Secret of Evermore is just different I guess, I love the music and the artwork involved and how it's not edgy or anything like that.
+A most excellent dude who is totally not bogus! I actually really liked Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, and FF6 for how much humor they all had, despite having very deep stories. I consider those three the best of both worlds.
This has got to be my favorite game soundtrack I've ever heard. Thank you so much for making this video! I listen to it all the time. ;3 Does anyone here know what else this composer has made? Links?
This is one of those games where the story gets pushed aside by the characters and atmosphere. Half way through you're just wondering, "who the heck am I going to meet next?". "What's my dog going to turn into next?" "How can the next area top this bizarre place?" People always call popular SNES games "underrated", so I hate using an over-used term. This game really is within the definition though. For some reason, people seem to overlook it as a false Secret of Mana sequel. It was never trying to be a sequel. It just has the same combat style and menu. That's it. My only complaint about Secret of Evermore is that it is too short. Reaching the end brings me down a bit. Could have used at least one more area before the final level. Maybe not though, hard to say.
I loved the game, I wanted it when it was displayed in store, got it for birthday. I always kept it as one of my biggest favorites. But I never saw it as a sequel to Mana, because I never played SoM. I guess alot of people had the expecation it was supposed to be a Mana sequel and was dissapointed, but never took it for what it was. I loved it, it was such a unique experience, especially the music that created a very special atmosphere when playing.
I have such fond memories of this game. Was never able to beat it as a child because my cartridge froze in the white tower, but recently I found another copy and beat it. The game is a gem, although I wish it was a bit more difficult and harder to buff your spells. There were a lot of bugs in it as well, it deserved a lot more tlc than it got. Also would have loved a 2 player option a la Secret of Mana. I highly doubt Nintendo would rehash it for the VC, but that would be all sorts of awesome.
32:10 Bumi is after the Spirit Bumju. Avatar Korra and Jinora going into the Spirit World and Jinora running after. 52:30 Iroh Final Speech. The Legend of Korra too. And Zelda Ocarina Of Time. Fluffyfeet. 44:30 The Anime named Monster. The Anime Bleach is a Good Anime Too.
Wow and I thought, the Secret of Evermore in fan video aufm piano was already awesome. But this is a lot better and I've been looking for the game without end on the SNES 7 times determined by played. Probably one of the hottest RPGs of his time.
The soundtrack is simply amazing, every tune fits the atmosphere perfectly. While there were some flaws this game doesn't deserve the hate it gets and was quite a unique story compared to the other games that came out about the same time.
An amazing sequel is so fucking easy. I hope that after I graduate with my BFA in Game Art and Design from Houston Ai that I take my ideas for a perfect sequel and create an amazing game for all of TSoE's fans.
Harry M That's because Chrono Trigger is highly regarded and SoE isn't. Are we even sure if SE holds the rights to this game any more? Did they let them expire? We need to dig deeper. a Sequel is very easy if that's the case. I'd love to see multiple teams from across the globe attempt a sequel and let the internet decide which one would be true. I'd also love to see Jeremy Soule contribute during his downtime. It would be a dream come true. I would hope if a sequel does happen one day, that they keep the integrity of the original, at it's core.
This game was a different creature altogether. The music just really was the cherry in top. Also how is this the complete OST if it doesn’t even have halls of collosia in it??? Or am I missing it somewhere?
I think they were both amazing games. I could never choose which one is better. Secret of Mana was brighter, more upbeat, and more epic. Secret of Evermore was more atmospheric, and more immersing. I really felt like I was alone exploring Evermore when I played that game.
@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 i think it was really bad, som desevered so much better, but if they remake it like Trails of Mana, only darker then Im in
That's such a 90s looking album cover, looks like Alice in Chains or something, lol... I had this game as a kid, and I thought it was pretty okay. I didn't like it as much as Secret of Mana, but I really appreciate what they tried to do with it.
This is really good! I wish I had played this on the SNES when it came out. Something about the box art always turned me off and I never played it like the FF games or Chrono Trigger.
when it comes to atmosphere and ambience, I think SoE wins it hands down. And who can forget the freaking cool marketplace in SoE.....I remember spending days there just trying to scrimp money, find the good deals and exchanges, purchasing artifacts! For a guy, that was my kind of shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a little piece of Evermore in Skyrim. “The Return” is part of the core wandering around soundtrack in Skyrim. I couldn’t help but smile every time I heard that while wandering around Skyrim.
Jeremy Soule was... 20 YEARS OLD... when he composed this.
19, actually. He got hired by Squaresoft USA right after graduating from high school.
+stripedhyenuh How did he got hired without a title?
He just sent them a demo tape. It was a different world back then.
Jeremy Soule is a genius. 20 years old back then... Those harmonies and sounds were and still are out of this world. The arrangement is unbelievable.

It was Soules first work basically. Often a great artists work is his earliest stuff. When he's trying his hardest to proof to the world he's something special.
Best snes game ever made i wish we could get a remake or remaster someday.
If they do it right then fuck yeah!
This is genius. Masterpiece soundtrack for an awesome game. Crema joder crema!!!
Here because of Secret Base. I'm currently on the track "Greek Temple" and really like the vibe. I kinda see how the OST influenced DR1&2
BRING THIS GAME BACK!
Crazy that this was all written by Jeremy Soule when he was 20 years old.
Been listening to this while studying for almost the last week. I liked this game a lot back in the mid 90's.
Beautiful stuff, one of the only square games that I really really love. Never been of a fan of jrpg style games because they usually come off as forced emotion. Secret of Evermore is just different I guess, I love the music and the artwork involved and how it's not edgy or anything like that.
BenjamminClark Secret of Evermore, always had me thinking of back to the future meets an RPG.
+BenjamminClark I know that avatar of yours... where does that skull appear? In which video game?
+A most excellent dude who is totally not bogus! I actually really liked Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, and FF6 for how much humor they all had, despite having very deep stories. I consider those three the best of both worlds.
Sorry for replying months later but can't help myself -- the avatar is a weapon from the macabre FPS 'Blood'.
This is insanely good.
Absolutely, i've read some interviews with him and i've never heard him even mention this soundtrack, ironically since it's his best one lol
This has got to be my favorite game soundtrack I've ever heard. Thank you so much for making this video! I listen to it all the time. ;3
Does anyone here know what else this composer has made? Links?
I remember that background picture from old EGM's and GamePro's. Square has some good artists.
Jeremy Soule as so much he was ! I love it for evermore !
This is one of those games where the story gets pushed aside by the characters and atmosphere. Half way through you're just wondering, "who the heck am I going to meet next?". "What's my dog going to turn into next?" "How can the next area top this bizarre place?"
People always call popular SNES games "underrated", so I hate using an over-used term.
Very nice man, this game is still my favorite game and midi files can get boring, at least this is the real thing ^^
I loved it, it was such a unique experience, especially the music that created a very special atmosphere when playing.
einfach nur schön...wie oft hab ich das spiel laufen lassen nur um die musik zu hören^^
Just to clarify, Anachronism is an ocremix by Schnabubula of Greek Temple II
15:06 we wish you a merry christmas:)
K-Pax For Evermore really reminds me of The Serpent Yards theme from Serious Sam The Second Encounter.
This was the best Game I have ever played in my life! :)

The Queens is so good. Thank you.
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that thinks secret of evermore was hella under-rated..
The best game sad that there are no multiple parts of or at least a remake please i want to play the game again and again it got me addicted :D
Ce jeu et cette ost me marqueront à jamais ❤
its totally amazing, its the best soundtrack that i know, really better than the most of the Sounds actually
WoW? Whats about this guy? Why I never listen about him. He is absolutly fantastic!
Only to be shut down by Square Enix right before the so expected release, like Chrono Resurrection and Crimson Echoes?
I think you'd better not...
Harry M
That's because Chrono Trigger is highly regarded and SoE isn't.
Did not know there is a soundtrack available. What hot shit is this please :-D
This is going to be perfect to listen to while I write.☺thank you☺
I think they were both amazing games. I could never choose which one is better. Secret of Mana was brighter, more upbeat, and more epic. Secret of Evermore was more atmospheric, and more immersing. I really felt like I was alone exploring Evermore when I played that game.
Seulement 37-38k vues ?! Ralala, les gens ne savent pas à côté de quoi ils passent. Ces musiques (et ce jeu) sont de pures merveilles.
A remaster of the game would be good enough, a little bit more cities npc's sidequests
Why not? The secret of mana one wasn't that bad. This one could be a lot better than that.
@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 i think it was really bad, som desevered so much better, but if they remake it like Trails of Mana, only darker then Im in
Such an awesome comment man, thanks for sharing!
40:13 Attracted to the melancholy of Dark Castle even as a child.
It's my favorite too. :) I started a Let's Play for it on my channel recently.
i see people asking for a remake, this game doesnt need a remake, it needs a multiplayer mode like in secret of mana
when it comes to atmosphere and ambience, I think SoE wins it hands down. And who can forget the freaking cool marketplace in SoE.....I remember spending days there just trying to scrimp money, find the good deals and exchanges, purchasing artifacts! For a guy, that was my kind of shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good game. I thought the poodle was easily the cutest dog in the game. Although, Fire Eyes was a close 2nd!
Wait. WHAT?
I enjoyed the Toaster-dog and the Feral one myself.
One of the greatest sound track for a video game ever... only surpassed by Skyrim soundtrack!
There is a little piece of Evermore in Skyrim. “The Return” is part of the core wandering around soundtrack in Skyrim. I couldn’t help but smile every time I heard that while wandering around Skyrim.
SO GOOD
This game was SOOOO under rated! I loved this game!
