He said he was in the Navy because there’s no particular place he went. That was essentially him saying he’s been everywhere. I’m not in the Navy but I was aboard one of their ships for 10 months and there was numerous places we went in that period of time. He was aboard for nearly 3 years which means there’s probably little he hadn’t seen. He mentioned he was in the pacific though, but that’s about as specific as he can get without giving you a list a mile long.
I believe he was in the navy and served, but I dare anyone to remember fine details from 70 years ago, so we have to forgive him for that. Anyway, I thank him and everyone like him.
@Luna EB In the armed forces you're given leave and flown back to the States. Even in World War II guys that were fighting in Europe and the Pacific were given leave to Hawaii or the UK. These days guys are flown home for a break. He's saying it correctly in the context, meaning no leave to return home. He left for the fight and didn't see home for years. He's old and not as fast as he was, but still makes perfect sense in context.
Sve je ful you obviously don’t understand history if you frame World War II like that. This man is a hero without a shadow of a doubt. Go educate yourself you ignorant prick.
He has an amazing memory for someone his age..for a 93 year old his remarkable and it's something to greatly be admired and appreciated for. Imagine all the tales he can tell you ..first hand experience
I'm a child of that generation, and I love them, but I have to say that they were really a bunch of scared goose-steppers. Can't fault them: first they got hit by the Depression, then World War 2. After all that, they were just eager to obey the rules and follow whatever rules the corporations made for them. No worse than any other generation, but it's probably ridiculous to think in terms of whole generations anyhow.
Lisa B they paid the same as any other but we have to account for inflation. Our wages haven't kept up with inflation so it's less money being put in compared to previous generations, all the while we have more people working than ever
Two world treasures having a great conversation. I’d sit and listen to that war vet for hours tell his stories. He should be on the veterans of WW2 channel on RUclips

This guy should sit down for an interview. He's healthy, acute, NO obvious hearing impairment, and wants to tell his story. World war 2 stories are so interesting especially coming from someone that was there!
He lied about his service, if he was in the Pacific Theater, pray tell how he made it to the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, on his really big battleship.
“Momma, what’s this package” “Well, Timmy, we are going to make your brother! We have the best Neuron Processors, facial simulator and Muscle Hydraulics.”
I’ll bet that right now we are making a new greatest generation. Only this time it’s medical workers on the front lines not soldiers, sailors, and marines.
Nah. They are called the greatest generation for a reason. These newer generations are have a privilege issue. Always asking for hand outs. This is coming from a millennial.

I have to share this. Im a huge supporter of veterans. Father was Air Force, brother in the Army, died in the Army. My passion is military museums of all sizes. Was at Wright Patterson AF Museum. Was invited to share lunch with a few WWII and Viet Nam vets. I went to pay for us all and they would not let me. No matter how much I insisted. Left that table in tears from sadness, and even more laughter. God bless our veterans and God bless the United States. 🇺🇸

The first thing Mr. Manzo said -- "I was wrong, no question about it." It is the philosophy of the Greatest Generation to take ownership in what you do, and if needed, suffer the consequences. It is called being responsible.
yeah but notice the Judge laughed when he said it was his first violation in 72 years...because nobody is perfect and he just never got caught...in Providence or anywhere else!
I wouldn't mind listening to be honest. Judge was right, his generation was the greatest generation. The levels of patriotism were never matched since then.

I came back from Vietnam and had an outstanding speeding ticket doing 30 in a 25 MPH zone at 2:30 AM coming home from my shift at Pontiac Motors. I was still in the Army when fronted up to the court to pay that old fine ... the Judge nailed me for the state fees and court costs, which was a lot of money for a married GI with one child ... Welcome home (?) ... I spent approximately 330 days in the Jungle with the 101st Airborne, Strike force on the DMZ, no home base, cot, foot locker ... everything we own we carried on our backs ... and 50 years later I hear this "Thank you for your service"??? sure... Glad we could help!
Your generation endured hardships and exposed a lot of evil in our society. The generation I served with didn't have to endure the abuse and mistreatment yours did. We are forever grateful and do not take what we have for granted. And while we can't ever take back the experiences our Viet Nam Veterans experienced, we can do our damndest to ensure that future generations don't. I can personally say I will never forget, and thank you.

"I was in the Pacific"
"Where were you in the Pacific?"
"I was in the Navy"
can't argue with that logic
He's AWESOME!!!!!
He also said he was at every battle in pasfic
@Luna EB In the armed forces you're given leave and flown back to the States. Even in World War II guys that were fighting in Europe and the Pacific were given leave to Hawaii or the UK. These days guys are flown home for a break. He's saying it correctly in the context, meaning no leave to return home. He left for the fight and didn't see home for years. He's old and not as fast as he was, but still makes perfect sense in context.

True
Lisa B they paid the same as any other but we have to account for inflation. Our wages haven't kept up with inflation so it's less money being put in compared to previous generations, all the while we have more people working than ever

The first thing Mr. Manzo said -- "I was wrong, no question about it." It is the philosophy of the Greatest Generation to take ownership in what you do, and if needed, suffer the consequences. It is called being responsible.
