Transfer partners are a good value however you usually need travel flexibility to take advantage of this idea. Especially if you’re flying with a family.
100% a lot these dudes are like “ Fly Business for cheap” but never really detail that they book on a very specific date and most don’t have that flexibility. Most have to submit Vacation days lol.
Hi. Great video. I have points on amex and have been trying to go to Japan with my family. I understand Ana through virgin, but no availibility. How can I go to Japan from northeast US.
In theory you can cause Marriott is also a transferable currency but they transfer at 3:1 to most partners so you’ll lose a ton of points doing this. Better to save those for Marriott hotel redemptions and start down the right path of earning good transferable currencies like Chase ultimate rewards or Amex membership rewards
Ok I basically understand the concept but I’m still a little confused. For example, if I have Chase points but I would like a Cathay Pacific flight which is not on the Star Alliance, is there a way to potentially get a Cathay Pacific flight with Chase points?
Yes, Cathay is oneworld alliance, so you could book it using British airways, which you can transfer into from chase. Can also transfer straight to Cathay’s program “Asia miles” from Amex and I believe others like citi/cap1

can you do this with airline credit cards too? I have AA advantage cc, bt don't see an option on their website to transfer miles
Is there a similar strategy for transferring points to hotels for max value?
Sorry for delay, but yup very similar!
I have points with Marriott Bonvoy Chase,, How do I use this to book with Alliances?

@@luxtravelhacks thank you for the suggestion, I did look into it and realized that BA’s fee is very high, also I don’t have miles on other cards …🤔
@@CrisLawMusic gotta diversify into the big currencies like Amex and chase. And when BA’s fees are high, Cathay’s program sometimes lower
You’re not explaining how to actually do it for those of us that are not savvy. Frustrated.
