- Finnish company 18 Wheels has recently unveiled a prototype for an electric all-terrain vehicle with eighteen wheels. In theory, it provides a smoother ride and the ability to easily roll over uneven ground. Tests of the prototype show the ATV driving over rocks and tree trunks. 18 Wheels also says their ATV is safe for nature and doesn’t destroy soil, like some traditional ATVs can. The body is made from recycled materials and can drive through water and on dry land.
The way it moves made it look like an adorable little metal millipede 😂
That's what it was designed after. A centipede
😊😅⁹l
I want that thing to drive up and down my back!
😂
A good back massage😂😂😂
😂
🤣
18 motors, 18 wheels, sounds like heavy maintenance
And I would think quite often depending on how many rocks and trees you roll over per trip!
The front end needs way more support. It dips down way to easy and will dig in causing crashes and injury. I would recommend using small gas shocks in the center to dampen the rate of compression. Other than that, it seemed like a great starting point. .
that's the concern I had
True
Maybe just a free spinning wheels attached to the bumper to "catch" it?
He looks so comfortable on it, sitting way to the back so the front doesn't dip...
I can only imagine how much that thing would cost to repair or replace anything, and I'm sure it's going to break a lot with those flimsy wheels and supports.
Well he built it, so if something breaks he might honestly just upgrade it
>18 motors to replace when they break
>Flimsy metal support/suspension that can get caught on a rock and break
>Turning radius will require “tank turning” and won’t be able to corner well at all
>Not much of an improvement over regular off-road vehicles
And for that reason, I’m out. I would be absolutely shocked if this became a product and caught on.
Lol yup exactly 💯 i agree👍🏼
not to forget what would happen to this in more than 6 inches of mud
Yes, I was thinking the same. Those leaf spring looking things will eventually fail.
She's a prototype
@@aShamelessHigh It’s still not likely to work in any configuration 🤷♂️
It looks like something from the 1960s Jonny Quest cartoons 🤣
It has a top speed of over 7 MPH on a downhill slope with the wind at your back, and the size and resale value of a 1977 Ford Pinto.
Nah you don’t get it
I'd actually buy a 77 pinto🤣
More or less looks like a thing you would find out of cat in the hat
"Can drive through water..."
Demonstrates by driving through three inches of water. Conquered.
Looks fun mashing through those rocks 🪨
Watching those wheels is really relaxing 😂
That's really cool. Interesting invention!
That Prototype Kinda looks like a Jet Ski with a Tesla Cybertruck like polygonal structure, with millipede like wheels.
I like scrolling through the comments because i see people with genuine concerns about the flaws in designs that will solidify to me that this wont be bought by anyone
That’s pretty incredible, honestly just make the top look less like a prototype or cyber truck and you’ve got a really cool vehicle there
I want to drive that awesome thing!
Ahh yess. Drives through water. Proceeds to drive through ankle deep water. What an amazing vehicle.
I always thought driving through water was a part of "ATV" 🤣
This is like mounting a big millipede so it can mostly do the same...
New technology is building everyhey before our eyes
I think it needs more wheels.
I can imagine one of them tiny wheels getting jammed and stuck between some rocks or something and getting ripped out with an expensive repair lol.. Some mad customers wanting money back.
The orthopedic surgeon watching this must be checking his schedule.
That’s pretty cool
Absolutely cannot *backup* !
Can’t see that being a sport utility, but definitely would be good for getting equipment/supplies into back country conditions.
I will use it for driftwood hunting and collecting on all terrains
I like the part where they drove in deep water
Okay dude that ATV isnt built to sail the seven seas, its built for off-road travel and in case there is a heavy rain.
@@Vezdekhod69 isnt that what a regular atv is for?
@@1ilrx maybe this atv can go through mud or it has a higher limit for water.
@@Vezdekhod69 I think it'd do much worse in mud than a regular ATV, top speed is also going to suck
Wow that is freaking amazing! And I hardley EVER say that!!
Until you encounter mud I reckon…..👀
They say there's one born every minute, I've got some magic beans for sale if your intersted
So cool!!
How does the unit manage rough terrain/obstacles in reverse?
I bet theres no reverse
Wow nice!
Now try to go over stuff in reverse
And i was waiting for it to walk thru water
Come on now that thing has so many floors it's actual backwards engineering
Hayao Miyazaki would love this...😅
Reminds me of a centipede.
That's what it should be named when it comes out on the market
THAT'S SO MANY WHEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it. It looks to be something for mars and It needs to be more stable. For consumer use. 👍
So we're combining electricity and water?
What could go wrong?
Amma still go with the 2-wheeled motorcycle.😂
Looks way more comfortable than ATV said NOBODY who has rode newer atv's!🤔😆
Nice
Disclaimer: this vehicle draws no inspiration from a centipede WHATSOEVER😂
i want a wheelchair like this so i can go hiking again 😅
What about the reverse direction of the same terrain? Or modification required.
All fun and games until you run it through salt water. They can claim whatever level of waterproof, saltwater will destroy it.
Would do the same for an atv
@@RockulousRift True, but it would just be bearings and gears assuming it's a typical gas-powered ATV. Not 18 electric motors that probably cost hundreds.
Bad ass 💯🔥
Looks like my scorpion 🦂 when its time to be fed
how those wheels works? where did they get the torque or power to move and carry heavy load?? don't tell me each of those 18 wheels contains induction winding???
Cool 😯
18 electric motors? How’s the battery life on this thing? What about weight?
Somebody tell them that tracks already exist and do a better job than whatever that thing is.
Imagine a world without noisy motors.
Can it go through mud?
No. It cannot. It never will.
I’m not testing that…
The way it moves is creeping me out 😂
POV your in a police chase:
POV your in a race:
POV your being chased by robbers:
POV your car has no shields/car doors to protect you from you guessed it MOSQUITEOS
Kool
🤩
Have you heard of the new 18 wheelers that can drive themselves for almost the whole trip?
*They're semi-automatic!*
He was roughing it a bit.😮
I understand
Takes the fun away , we like the rough and bumpy rides 😂
Can we do reverse with this?
I’d say production is about 5 years away if ever
Looks like it'd tip over easy.
Waw new technology new idea but for me it's ugly 😂😂 how to design but amazing ❤
Looks really strange!
Good idea for those food delivery robots on the cities they could just drive over the bums
An ATV driving through water is not a brag. That's a part of different terrain. My car can drive through water 🤣
wow this is cool
Where's Stevon? I didn't see Rich either but this sure does stink of Rich Rebuilds. Lol
It needs 2 wheels on the front, to hit the ground when it does that absurd nose dive. Check out the posture of the rider. The rider is all tense, because they have no idea when the vehicle is going to absurd nose dive again....
You can pick one up for 500,000💀💀💀some random company in America would price it like that.
It's going to need a bit more speed.
Rideable adidas springblade
Companies that went bankrupt in 18 seconds..
The red neck ATV
Muito legal❤
It looks like something you would build in Roblox plane crazu
He’s going to be sorry he didn’t use rollers as a leading edge
Chain tracks that without chain
Track traction without the tracks. The computer illustration is absolutely nothing like the vehicle. Also even the cheapest zero-turn mowers have spring-loaded seats to reduce broken-backs.
It’s cool but it’s missing something!
This thing reminds me of the house bugs I kill around my place🤮 they're so fast tho and gross
throw this on a cybertruck and ur all set
But can I do tricks with it?
Interesting concept, but it looks slow and fragile
Looks like they're 50 years away from an actual product.
You keep driving it over ground like that it would last about a day
"Drive through water"
Onlh shows 2 clips and the water is literally 4 inches deep..
put a wheel on the front
What about a good mud hole. Dont think those little wheels would be very good. Look like the guy is very uncomfortable driving it.
Creepy and if can't go over the mountain then why not a quad bike
Oh Lord no prototype cars please!
I’ll stick to quads
Rolls over stuff like a tank would….
Less legs bigger wheels I think
Probably lasts 20minutes
wtf
