I love this episode of RPDR, but it grates me when so many of the queens keep saying "America is the ONLY country where you can be anything you want to be". Is that how Americans think? Don't they know theirs is not the only country in the world where people have freedom and rights and has all kinds of people doing all kinds of things? I'm from Northern Europe and I do drag. I can get a free education in any field. I get practically free healthcare if I need it. I can marry a person of the same sex. I can travel and own property and start a business if I want to. So no, America is not the only land where you can grow up into anything you want to be.
It bothers me too but I just try to ignore it. Americans are fully brainwashed since birth, and conditioned to believe America is something more than a country, it's a whole ideal to them

It's more that there's enough people who are blindly patriotic to make all patriotic media guaranteed to make a profit. It's the same principal of how certain genres of porn are guaranteed to make money.

Tbh, I always crack up whenever Manila do the Asian stereotype, like eating dogs.
I am not Chinese, I am Indonesian and Bataknese (A tribe in Indonesia), but some of our culture basically breeding dogs and eating them, cooking stew like Chicken stew with little of blood in it, and when Manila make jokes about it, I can only laugh and stare at my relatives that do eat dogs. Ok this got dark.

Quack Addict the difference is, people don’t tend to eat the animals they consider “pets” like dogs, cats, horses, hamster, etc. So it’s more shocking to people. While I agree, meat is meat...but humans are meat too, we don’t eat each other. At least we shouldn’t be 😂

i think what happened was this was one of those episodes where they filmed the challenge on a friday but didnt do runways/critiques until monday, so they knew to give them the spanish song

This was a much more enjoyable listen than last week because it was balanced. I don't think anyone was ever going to go home this episode. There was no way that Carmen was going to be safe after Johnny came for her so hard. But if I was working in a burger joint and Johnny walked in, I'd spit in his burger! That particular comment was a bit much. I cannot wait for next week.

This was clearly Carmen's best lip sync of the season. (Straight Up is amazing but not because of Carmen's lip syncing skills). I hate her style of lip syncing in the season--she doesn't enunciate enough and relies on her RBF, whichever version you want it to stand for).

I see this a lot with this show (both this season and the series in general) dealing with cultural appropriation and racism and I just have to say this; these are drag queens and they are not the ones to look towards for wholesome safe entertainment. Drag has always had a layer or controversy and audacity to it, we are talking about men dressing as women. To say they were offensive misses the point of drag; it's supposed to have a layer of shock value to it. The reason Ru gave manila the news reporter win wasn't because it was hilarious, but because she was willing to "go there". Pushing the envelope has always been an aspect of drag, so if you are offended by what they are wearing or doing then this isn't the show for you. After all, who wants a safe PC drag queen who's too concerned about what everyone else thinks? Did Ru become famous for being safe and worrying about what everyone would think about her being in drag?
So to sum it up, yes sometimes they cross lines and push the envelope...deal with it.

It could be a nice contrast, tho - she sucked in season 3 and 2, but she may get her rudemtion - like Roxxxie did in the begining of AS2, she just need to stay clean and more professional, than she was then. On the other hand they are already over her halleluying ass, so if she put a full time old Shangela mode - they would be spitting acid and fire everywhere.

Trixie came back in her own season. Shangela got to compete on two different seasons, with a full year to work and improve herself im between. Two totally different scenarios that aren't comparable.

I think Raja's intentions were good but misguided. I found it pretty clever at the time, everyone was in stars and flags, she went in another direction, and it showed that she was consistently thinking differently. It's not my place to be angry, but I could see why people would be.

I really don't like Shangela, but I have to say that I think the editors were being shady to her. Let me explain -- I think that Shangela sang that bit of song *without any background music* and then the editors added in a version of the instrumentation that was in a different key. Without that instrumentation, she probably sounds reasonably ok. With it, she sounds horribly out of key. That's always been my interpretation. It was still stupid and weird but I think she at least would have sang on key.
