NZXT H6 Flow vs H9 Flow

  • If you are in the market for a mid-tower dual-chamber case, both the H6 Flow and H9 Flow are solid options. Personally, I like the H6 Flow better for it's form factor and overall design. So why isn't my build inside it? Because I didn't pay attention and bought an AIO that was too thick (38mm rad + 25 mm fans) to fit in the H6, so I compromised and got the H9 so that I could still use the Arctic Liquid Freezer III. Could I have bought slim fans for the AIO? Yes, but Arctic doesn't make any A-RGB 12 mm fans, and I didn't want to return 6 items to keep 1, vs returning 1 to keep 6. The H9 Flow is still a great case; in fact, it has a lot more options for the consumer than the H6 Flow. However, I don't think there's any way to deny that the H6 Flow just looks way better for a PC build in 2024.
    Differences
Overall size: H9 Flow is taller and longer by a decent bit, functionally same width.
Storage support: H9 Flow designed for 4 SSDs + 2 HDDs, H6 Flow for 2 SSDs and 1 HDD.
Radiator support: H6 Flow can only have a radiator up top as exhaust (MAKE SURE RAD + FANS IS NOT MORE THAN 55 MM), H9 Flow can have one basically anywhere.
Others: H9 Flow has dust filters, H6 Flow does not. H9 Flow IO is on top of case, H6 Flow is on front panel at bottom.
    My build:
    3x 120 mm fans - front intake
    3x 120 mm fans - top exhaust
360 mm radiator - top exhaust
    2x 140 mm fans - bottom intake
    1x 120 mm fan - rear exhaust
    ATX motherboard
    RTX 3080
    850W PSU
^^ ALL OF THAT would have fit in the H6 Flow if the radiator was 8 mm thinner (so basically the norm from NZXT, Corsair, etc), which is the most impressive part of all of this to me.

I was about to buy the H6 over the H9, but I have the same AIO. Thanks for the info and saving me a lot of trouble.

Aorus x670 mobo and the nzxt kraken 360 fits perfectly. I had no problems. The H6 is a cooling beast.

The radiator of the AC is 38mm, that one of most of other brands are 25-27mm.

I'm going to get the H6, you can buy a dust filter for 10 bugs and if something doesn't fit I'll have to do a bit of sawing

Hi, very good video, I wanted to ask you about the AIO. What is it that prevents the AIO from not fitting in the h6? I have a case that shouldn't fit either, it crashed with the motherboard and the rear fan and the screw holes didn't match, but I managed to mount the AIO. Sorry for Google tranlator.

I took this photo of inside the H9. The gap with the red arrow basically doesn't exist at all inside the H6, so my AIO was being jammed up against my motherboard's rear IO. The orange circle is actually the mark/dent I made trying to force it when I was building inside the H6. Had the overall fans+radiator been slimmer, it would have fit fine, but the Liquid Freezer series use a 38mm radiator vs most others which use a 30mm. Hope that helps.

The H9 is HUGE! Like a fish tank. I agree not much character. I think whats really odd is the fans on the H9 aren't pointing at the board at all. They are facing away. Why would they do that? Most cases have FRONT fans pointing at the board, or in the H6 case, 45 degree hitting it from a different angle but the H9 points it away. How does that benefit it? Also can you tell me if you think the Fractal beats both of these? I am considering ALL 3 right now + the new ASUS ProArt PA602 case. Wondering if you had to place them in order which would be your top choice, second choice and third? Thanks great vid!

Honestly, yes, I think the Fractal Torrent is a much more unique build option than the H9 Flow. I don't regret moving to the AIO + dual chamber, but I am definitely keeping the Torrent around for next time I do an all air-cooled build. The 90 degree turn from those intake fans to the components is goofy for sure, but whether you believe it or not, my temps are still great with the H9. The two 140 mm fans on the bottom are blowing cold air directly into my GPU, and that 360mm Liquid Freezer keeps my CPU temps low as well. So for me, it would be H6 Flow (if you can fit your build in there)/ Fractal Torrent (if you're doing an air cooled build) tied at #1, with the H9 Flow at #3.

I'm concerned about gpu sag as I don't see how I can put a support bracket for the gpu in the H6. Does anyone know of a good fix?

    • @MercuryTV
      @MercuryTV  2 дня назад +1

I drew this up, imgur.com/8hFkjfi. Completely understand the concern there. If your GPU isn't long enough to clear both 140mm intake fans, I think you're SOL. If it does go past the fans, you could get a product like this, www.amazon.com/Aivalas-Support-Graphics-Adjustable-Universal/dp/B0BPGJCLYR/. If it doesn't, I think these braces are your only option, and I don't think they work too well. www.amazon.com/EZDIY-FAB-GPU-Graphics-RTX3090-309EZ-Black/dp/B09466LNV3/
