To everyone commenting on the BIOS update, youre correct. Simple oversight on my part as I forgot that 13th gen was Z790 and not Z690. This is why new gens that arent ACTUALLY new gens can get confusing! Rest assured the 13600k is back in the build as planned!
That was first thought, but last year I sent a set RAM sticks and motherboard back due to BIOS needing updating LOL
I was just about to post that. I had the same issue for a build I did last week.
All good, glad that is all fixed now.
Yes the generations are easy to get mixed up at times. 😁
Im guessing others have already commented this but the 7600X does have an IGPU.
7600x has a iGPU that is RDNA 2, that crucial set of DIMMS always gave me issues, at least 1 stick dies. The 3060Ti is fine on a 1440p 144Htz panel, I was getting High settings and over 60FPS in AAA games.
It's so odd he said the 7600x doesn't have an igpu...
@@pablosanmartinvarela1773 very odd considering that was one of the points about 7000 series, they ALL have igpu now.
You can totally do better with AM5
Specially as DDR5 isn't that expensive now a days...
I have ballistix ram, they got me a lot of troubles, and finally got to understand ram because of it.
Though one of my ballistix DIMM died, but turns out that by inserting all the way in the DIMM was causing to not post the system. So i just push the dimm enought for the retention to grab them but not all the way, that solved the post issue, it may help you. Also it was giving me a lot of issues with the infinity fabric speeds or FCLK, so i setted the FCLK manually.
I had the same issue with my recent build using the 13600K where it wouldn't post and the DRAM light keeps glowing. Turns out it was just the BIOS needed to be updated before it's able to boot. MOBO supports 12th gen out of the box. Needed to flash multiple times to get to the version that supports 13th gen. God knows how happy I am when I saw it post!
Same here, 13900K, had to buy a 12gen CPU for the upgrade (12100)
I agree its usually an old BIOS rather than a bad cpu
I don't get it why 13th gen is paired with 600 series board, especially bought new. I ALWAYS assume that 600 series board are the older stock, and lack 13th gen support.
the 7600x clearly has IGPU, the 7500f is the one from AMD with no IGPU
MEGA Whoopsy by Jay 😉 once in a lifetime.
@@1_2_die2 Well, he made an "whoopsy" by not updating the Asus Z690 mobo for the 13600k CPU to work.
@@1_2_die2 musta bin watching LTT videos b4 recording this one hahaha
Gamer's Nexus salivating right now
@@pwartv3528 valid explanation ^^
If you look at around 16:38 the AMI screen says BIOS revision 0403. 13th Gen was only supported from v 2004 according to the product page. So I think everyone talking about BIOS may be correct here.
Jayz, I feel like the only reason the 13600k didn't work is cause the z690 board may need a bios update. Just a thought.
Was thinking the exact same thing
Me too man.😅
Yeah especially if this was a board that Jay got direct from ASUS when 12th Gen first came out there is no way it supports 13th gen without an update. Not usually a thing Jay overlooks... I guess he is human.
Absolutely, that's most likely the reason. I understand that it's impossible to always think of everything, even though it might feel obvious for someone else.
Nail meet head.....
Upgradable build but the only upgrade that will make sense in a few years will be a 14900K which will then be sattled with very slow RAM. This was a job for a b650 and a 7600 or 7700 with 32/5600
I kinda agree. Although for gaming, the 14700 makes more sense...there just isn't that much to be gained. Only reasonable upgrade I can see is the 3060ti.
7600x does have an igpu.
Am5 also has an upgrade path instead of a dead-end platform.
Seems to be the opposite of an upgrade path as you posit it to be.
The real upgrade for 4K, higher than 120hz, and high to ultra+ settings is the GPU, which is always easily changeable. Nobody upgrades their competent CPU (i5-13600K) because it won't be the limiting factor for future games.
Would you really be upgrading the cpu though? In most cases, it's the storage or the gpu.
I agree and am5 boards are normally cheaper than intel Z boards, which cancels out the slightly more expensive DDR5 memory. I am also sure you can get a better similarly priced gpu.
It's funny how amd fans are so defensive about anything at all intel is better for games always has been there isn't really a difference between them anymore tho the people that can't afford a higher light bill go with amd and then try to justify it
Exactly. He said he wanted this to be an easy to upgrade pc. But then uses a dead platform cpu and ddr4. Then says incorrect info about the 7600x not having an igpu. I think Jay needs a little more sleep or something
Understand why you didn’t but am5 was definitely the upgrade path in my opinion. Memory training least for me has stopped being an issue with bios improvements & ddr5 isn’t much more now with prices dropping. Longevity & power consumption will also be better.
My system boots and loads in about 1 minute with DDR5/AMD 7 7700X. Guess I got lucky?
how could power consumption be better?
@@squidwardo7074because Intel is a power hog vs AMD on the higher end, not that much difference between Intel i5 vs Ryzen 7600, but upgradeability which was one of the points of that specific pc in the video, so if you upgrade to the highest end Intel i9 14th gen vs whatever else comes from AMD in the future like a possible Ryzen 9 8950X3D or 9950X3D as there will be 3 generations on the AM5 apparently, so upgradeability is a lot better with AM5 than intel current platform which is a dead end as if you have the highest end 12th gen i9, there is too little of an uplift vs the 13th and the 14th gen to bother... so if you want Intel wait for the 15th gen and the new socket and motherboards... otherwise get AM5 as it is better currently and has two more generations worth of upgrade.
@@squidwardo7074 If you check out Hardware Unboxed for their 14th gen review, they show FPS in many games for many CPUs. The very next chart is the same game, showing power consumption during the test. Intel appears to consume more power.
I'm with you here. Whether AMD or Intel I would've gone with a DDR5 system. Depending on how long this current spec lasts them, they may end up paying dearly to upgrade RAM in the future if they need to either because DDR4 is out/on the way out so the price went up (DDR3 did this and he even mentioned this in regards to SATA SSDs!) or to completely swap platforms to one that supports DDR5. For the theme being "upgradability" I think Jay was a bit off the mark here.
been watchin a few watercooling pc builds you've been doing recently... i've probably rebuilt mine far too many times...constantly use your builds as a guideline for what i want to do.
I’m pretty sure the 7600x has an igpu, that’s something that was added to all 7k series chips except the 7500f
yes it has 2x2.2MHz radeon graphics. Pretty sure all ryzen am5 has iGPU unless its a special CPU line up.
Z690 usually requires a BIOS update to run 13th or 14th gen.
First thing I thought as well, I’m sure in his next video about the build he will think of it
I haven't had the memory thing with my 7900x in the last 9 months and I updated my bios yesterday and still didn't have to wait for the memory train more than a min.
Did not know this was a thing just built my 7800x3d system last month and cant even remember it from then .
The 7600x has an igpu and is on sale for $219 on newegg rn. Sits around 250 normally. But i for the build use understand the choices.
am5 is a far superior upgrade path?
@@jamesbyrd3740It is. And there is no reason to go DDR4 when DDR5 is so cheap right now. Also, a 3060TI? Nah, 6700XT would be my pick unless you *have* to have NVIDIA's AI shit.
@@jamesmoriarty9433 he said it himself.. its purely gaming PC so you dont need Nvidia and you will NEVER turn RT on with that 3060ti even at 1080p, the card simply CANT handle it.. matter of fact anything under 3080ti cant really run RT.. I know he was prob building with parts he had laying around, but still dont call it "not braking the bank" when for 1500$ you can get B650, 7600, 32gb RAM and 7800XT
the 7600x has an igpu, plenty of future upgrade paths for more than 3 generations, ddr5 doesn't require memory training on all systems, the cpu uses less power than an i5 13600k plus the amd platform already supports gen 5 nvme and certain boards are gen 5 ready for upcoming gpus.
Mmm might have not checked ddr5 prices recently, it got super cheap for basic bin stuff… also HUB just did a good comparison of ddr4 vs ddr5 for gaming, and ddr5 does make a tangible difference.. I feel like a cheap z690 ddr5 board with 6000c30 ddr5 that would work with both am5 and intel in future would be a better choice for now and near future…
7600X does have a iGPU, plus its socket life will far outlive intel so in terms of upgrade ability I feel AM5 would of been the way to go. I have never had any issues with AMD memory training/boot looping either, currently running 6000MHZ DDR5 with a 7600X. Either you only get that on the higher end CPUs or when your trying to overclock, which I feel like is a waste of time these days, the CPUs all boost themselves within their thermal limits
Jay as someone else said. I would speculate that you need a BIOS update. I had a rig I built recently - INTEL and it was stuck on code 15 until I updated the BIOS
@paulshardware has a build spreadsheet for a $1584 PC that has a 7800X3D and 7900XT GPU. If you drop down to the 7800XT GPU (or RTX 4070), you'd get 50% more FPS than the 3060ti, and still have a hundred dollars to spend on fans with a $1500 budget. What you have is well below $1000 PC and completely outdated. Also, update the BIOS to get 13600k working...
but 7600x does have igpu!

This would run circles around what Jay built.
Jay, another great vid with a wholesome undertone, but...
I understand if a few of the parts are from your collection, and were not included in the build cost for your friend, but there is a few problems here:
-7600x DOES have iGPU
-The front exhaust is stealing air that could be feeding the cooler!
-the 3060ti was chosen because of budget restraints...but there is $120 worth of fans!
-That DDR4 is not middle of the range, it's bottom of the barrel
- you didn't want am5 due to post/instability issues, so why provide a k-model and z-series to a PC-newbie? Asking for trouble!
- upgrade-ability was a common theme throughout, but the GPU is the only worthwhile upgrade, short of removing the motherboard and starting over! (13600 to 14700 maybe, but a few extra percent for more watts seems like a waste)
-The 13600 does beat the 7600, but only on DDR5. That lead evaporates when running the 13600 on DDR4.
An am5 build would have fit the bill much better. There would be:
-meaningful CPU upgrades (current gen and future releases)
-obviously GPU upgrades too
-less cpu cooling required (particularly for non-x parts and x3d parts)
-mem training and boot times have improved on am5. The worst offenders were b650, but being as you used a z-series for intel, I assume you would use x-series for amd?
Swap the mobo for good quality am5 board - save $40
Swap the 13600k for a cheaper 7600x - save $80
Swap the Dark Rock Pro 5($100!!!!) for an AK620 - save $40 or go even cheaper with a peerless assassin
Don't spend $120 on fans - Thermaltake 3-pack 140mm PWM and RGB for $50 or phanteks for $36 - save $70 (2x140mm in the basement, 1 as exhaust, they also look very similar to the included case fans)
Swap the $40 2x8 DDR4 for G.Skill Flare X5 2x16GB EXPO DDR5($105) - extra $65
40+80+40+70 = $220 minus $65 for the DDR5 upgrade = $155 to upgrade GPU/storage
Again, I do not know what parts you have in your collection, and this could have been a great price if a few discounts/freebies were included for family/friends. The message of the vid should have been "cheap and effective" and not "upgrade-ability"
Recent hardware unboxed video covering ddr4 vs ddr5 would be a good watch. Tldr ddr5 worth going over ddr4
Also dramless ssd as a os drive isnt a great idea
Dramless not so bad sign, this is Qlc ssd, and thats a lot worse
^
I just did a build with the 13600KF and almost bought that Z690 board. Pcpartspicker warned me that the board would need a flash update before it will work with that 13th gen chip. I just got a Z790 instead to avoid. What a great builder tool for noobs like me.
Literally in the process of making a 13600k ddr4 3000mhz 3070 build so im really happy to watch this :)
I would look at something more like (All on Amazon): Ryzen 7600X/ASUS TUFF B650 Combo (449.99), G.Skill Flare X5 6000mt CL36 32GBS (95.99) SFX Speesdster 6800XT (499.99), Scythe Fuma 3(49.99), BeQuiet! Pure Base 500 FX (BGW43 which comes with 4 lightwings(109.90), EVGA SuperNOVA 750 GT 80 Plus Gold 750W (109.99) and a 2TB Crucial P3 (109.99). For a grand total of $1425.
I would argue it would out perform this by quite a bit.
You are right. His picks were awful. You can play 1440p 144hz in your system
@@nimamehranfar8310 actually, you can gain even more performance if you switch out the graphics card for a similar SFX Speedster 7800 XT at $530 and still be under budget.
This is probably just me, but I think Jay made the wrong decision when he went with the 3060 Ti. AMD has amazing price to performance, especially up against Nvidia in the entry level - midrange section, and AMD has more Vram as well WITHOUT a mark up in price. Plus the 13600k pick and DDR4 just doesn' sit right with me. The 7600X has an iGPU and the AM5 platform will be supported for longer than the current LGA platform from Intel.
Thats the beauty of choice.... do it your way. These are things to THINK ABOUT..... not copy. Im pretty sure the message was clear.
Microsoft will do the trick again with the unexpected reboot of Amd platforms in their next operating systems and upgrades, as they did 10 1709 and up with the fm2 and fm2+ sockets. So it doesn't matter how long amd supports their platforms. Microsoft will always make you buy Intel😉
Which you should have made that comment in the video.
DLSS 2.0 alone is worth going with Nvidia over AMD every single time. FSR2 is garbage. Plus at the price range of a 3060 Ti, whatever AMD card that is equivalent at that price will be TRASH at ray-tracing, whereas the 3060 Ti actually can do RT at 1080p with DLSS Balanced in a ton of games, and thanks to DLSS looking so good, 1080p Balanced actually looks OK, instead of total trash with FSR2 at 1080p Balanced.
I can't justify getting maybe 10-15% better rasterized, native performance with AMD at an equal price, when the actual forward looking features (RT and AI upscaling) are both so, so much worse with AMD. For example, let's say a game runs at 100 FPS on AMD at 1080p native, and only 85 FPS on Nvidia. In that case I can turn on DLSS Quality mode, bump my FPS up to 120 FPS, see an IMPROVEMENT to my image quality, etc. meanwhile the AMD card must not dare turn on FSR2 or it'll look awful. Now at 120 FPS, maybe I can throw on some RT feature, drop my FPS to 100, in line with AMD, except better image quality and RT enabled. Meanwhile AMD gets to brag about running at native resolution still with no RT, as if it is 2015 or something.
As for CPU, I'm with you, AMD is the way to go. I have a 5800X3D paired with a 3070 Ti and it is such a great system I love it, so stable too, literally haven't had a game crash or a system crash or any instability whatsoever in well over a year.
@Jayztwocents This is true, and you are right in saying that you made your point very clear. I would like to personally thank you for the criticism provided by your response.
I was just happy seeing people still gifting PCs these days! i gifted my brother one few years ago for Xmas and he still use it to this day and it feels really nice that he is still happy while using it. hopefully this PC can make them happy for years to go! Love you
7600X does have an integrated GPU... All 7000 series desktop CPUs do, except the 7500f.
I think you're confusing it with the 5000 series needing the G stamp to have the iGPU.
My first thought was that after putting the 12th Gen in, update the BIOS - I see others beat me to that point and your pinned msg acknowledges that so Kudos!!
When it comes to 7000 Ryzen: Get the 7600, change literally one setting in PBO to +200mhz and get stock 7600x clocks, save $30-50. 😁
FYI the 7600X DOES have an IGPU!!!!
Thanks. I really appreciate that you talked about not having timing issues that would scare a first time builder. Same with air cool vs A1O.
Reasonable build for people like me looking to build a new one that will just work fine maybe even on first turn on.
Although it never caused any problems, I did notice my AIO was dripping on my 3090 GPU.
5:06 The R5 7600x does have iGPU.
I spent 1600€ on an amd 7700x and 7800xt build. Pretty decent and I think it is the time to build a high end to ultra gaming pc right now. My first ever custom build pc. 0 RGB, one white strip, just how I like it
with $1500 I would build an am4 system with a radeon 7000 series gpu...i usually upgrade every 3 - 5 years and always replace the mobo anyway, so it doesn't matter that am4 is end of life.
The moment i saw "upgrade path" in the title, and then i saw intel in it with ddr4 ram, i can only hope jayz to revise this video, cuz its a bit misleading, especially the "7600x not having igpu"
Jay building Pcs for their friend's children is one of the most wholesome things ever. I do wish this is a regular segment in the show
That will be a really nice PC for anyone. Snappy
If you’re going s1700 with ddr4, you might was well go am4. 13/14th gen take a big hit on ddr4. Also, it’s a dead end platform.
I'm sorry. I promised I wouldn't be this guy. But there are so many bad pieces of advice in this. First of all LGA1700 is a dead platform. The only upgrade you can make is to 14th gen. AMD has 1-2 more generations left of *new* CPU launches on AM5. Secondly, recommending DDR4 for a system that you want to have an upgrade path is also bad. Even if you did go Intel right now going DDR5 would be one less thing to upgrade in the future. Thirdly the 7600X DOES have an iGPU. All of the current AMD SKUs do. Please forgive me for being "this guy" but I love watching this channel but some of the information lately has left me scratching my head.
I third this. Really bad choices this time Jay.
Agreed this is a Linus level screw up
@@CJWall_rott😂
Thank you for willing to be that guy. I appreciate it. It's called integrity.
Struggling for content is what I'm getting from his videos lately.
Pretty sure 7600X has an igpu, ddr4 means if you want past 14th gen you need new Ram, nvidia GPU prices don’t make sense for midrange and faster Ram is available for the same price. 850w is not low, it’s atleast mid range, you even said it would run a 4080
"Upgrade path!"
Intel CPU + DDR4 = 🚫
Ikr
Yeah 14th gen is basically 13th gen. and am5 should last way longer till ddr5 ends. Intel may support high speed ram, but amd will support much better platform support
I have a 3700X hooked up to a 3060Ti, no complaints here whatsoever. Performance is great and I can play most titles with everything maxed out and still get 90+FPS! I do have it plugged into a TV tho, sorry Jay XD
8 years ago I bought a fractal meshify case, to this day I have not even considered changing it. Great airflow with mesh all over keeping components nice and chill with dust filters everywhere so I can just clean the filters rather then inside the PC. I will use this case for as long as I can fit what I want into it, GPU got only 0.8mm of space cause GPUs are growing in size (6950xt XFX merc). So hopefully future ones are smaller so I never have to buy a new case I love this one too much xD
I bought Meshify 2. I have big hand and I need space
I got the 7000D Airflow from Corsair last year (built in it beginning of November this year!) because of the filters and space as well (plus I liked the window).
I HATE dust getting inside my case so I will definitely look at the Meshify next time, or whatever is similar in (hopefully) 8 years when this machine is simply obsolete :D

"I don't want to have something with a hardcore limiation going foward". Uses a 13600k on a dead plateform with ddr4........... right.

Peerless assassin black air cooler
MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi motherboard
G.skill Flare X5 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM
Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD
Zotac 4070 twin edge gpu
Monarch Air 903 Max chassis
Corsair RM750e psu
This Intel doesn't make a lot of sense if I want reliability and upgradeability.
Yikes. The title of this video and the components chosen are in stark contrast to each other.
7600X does have an iGPU, all Ryzen 7000 X and non-X CPU's have it. Only F cpu's does not have iGPU.
Jay you just needed to update the BIOS on that board for the 13600k to work my dude... Also i don't think that LGA1700 has a better upgrade path than AM5 right now... Unless Intel comes out with 15th gen on the same socket (not to mention that 14th gen it's a joke and isn't an upgrade at all).
No one can reasonably say that LGA1700 is anything but a dead platform that should be avoided like the plague if your goal is future upgrades. Same goes for DDR4. Cancer.
@@jamesmoriarty9433 Nope, no one can ... LGA1700 isn't dead at all by any means but im just saying that if you want a longer upgrade path at all cost AM5 has more life in it (that we now at least...) "Cancer"... Just stop being toxic dude...have a good day!!
I just recently built my sister and brother in law a gaming computer using old hardware I've had from past builds. They've never had a gaming PC before this. A Z170 Fatal1ty K6, i5]-6600K, Aerocool Red Devil X3 case, an MSI GTX 1070 Ti Titanium and 500W EVGA PSU. Snatched a 4th Gen 2TB NVMe (was cheaper to go with the 4th gen than 3rd and a future upgrade will result in a faster drive!), a be quiet! Pure Rock Slim cooler and 16GB 3200Mhz Vulkan Z RAM during Cyber Monday. Got it all set up and ready to go and it works great! It's actually a pretty decent build for a 1080p gaming rig!
the majority of am5 cpus, including the 7600 and 7600X most definitely have integrated graphics, I believe 7500f is the only one with it being disabled
I just put together my build for under 1500. But I built it with upgrading in mind, 12600K because the price was too good to pass up, MSI Z790-P, 32gigs T-Force DDR5-6000.. the cost for DDR5 mobos adn ram wasn't that much higher for me than dd4 so why not? I pulled my 6mo old 3060 and put it all into a LANCOOL III which will have more space than I'll ever need. 850W be Quiet! 12M. Its modest, but quite a leap over my I7-7700. But At some point I'd love to go to a I7-13700K if the prices cool a bit. That, and a 3060/4060 TI or even a 70 series would be ideal. But its stable, its running and I built it. I'm proud. I don't think I could've done it without this channel though. I found this channel about 9 months ago when I was thinking about upgrading my existing rig, I watched most of the back catalogue and educated myself on everything about current PC building then
started assembling parts. You were a great help Jay.
Thank you!
The 7600X does have an iGPU, all AM5 CPUs do, except for the "F" designation. Also, not much of an upgrade path IMHO. All you have is 14th gen and you can't even carry over the RAM to a new platform because it's DDR4.
You are right and if he wanted an upgrade path he would have gone am5 he screwed up
if you want AM5+DDR5 but without memory training boot issues, set the OC memory timings to manual.
I hate it when friends and family are like which PC should I buy? I'm like "ME!" and they go "oh, well, I don't want to bother you with this stuff." And again I'm like "I will gladly tell you what to spend your money on and help you build and troubleshoot it." It's what I do for a living but I rarely part out and build actual computers in my day to day.
Phil man, idk how you do it every build, but your b-rolls are gorgeous, relaxing, and attentive all at once. Not to mention they're always different too! Hat's off to you good sir!
You said the 7600X didn't have an iGPU, but it does....?
"what I'm gunna do next... is pause for lunch, cuz this body doesn't just happen" had me in stitches, lunch is always the first step to troubleshooting in my books.
The 7600X has integrated graphics, Jay. I think all 7000-series desktop CPUs have an IGP.
All AMD CPUs have igpu only the newer F version don't have igpu.
I would go with the AMD 7700, use the stock heatsink, the AM5 Gigabyte B650M DS3H mATX motherboard, though it would not hurt to go up to the 650m Gigabyte Aurous AX for the built in WiFi and PCIe 4.0 4x, 16 length slot, and more powerful VRM. A 750 watt or so power supply, Corsair RM750e (2023) for example, a 4060, or AMD equivalent, I recommend going with a Gigabyte model so the lighting software is the same and cuts overhead. the Thermaltake Versa H18 case, get some thermal Take ring led fans to match the case's blue LED strip, and some affordable DDR5 RAM, like the Corsaire Vengance 5600 32 gig kit (the mother board I listed really maxes out at 5600 according to G Skill), and a budget SSD, same as in the video. That should be if the parts are on sale close to 1100 or so not counting OS on PC parts picker.
I am building a similar i5/6800 but sff. I came in way under 1500 bucks. It sounds insane to call in an upgrade path, i wouldnt. but for the budget its hard to beat, and hopefully there is room for some future upgrades that are also dirt cheap
I'm using the 7600x... it has an igpu...
Every new builder , just ignore this video complety !
lol that 3060ti is $650. Could have gone with a 7800xt for about $100 less if not more. Anyways love your videos. So informational. Nothing but love here.
Jay I just built in that case, nice case. Went down to my local Micro Center and bought their 7800x3d combo and bought everything but the graphics card for right under nine hundred dollars and that’s even put a deep cool ls720 on top.
You did right. His picks were awful for his price budget. Get 7800XT for your pc and you'll be set for 3-5 years.
Just built a computer for my kid. Budget wasn't quite 1500 bucks, ended up spending about 950 € (so, probably like $1100?). ROG Strix B550 Wifi MB, R5 5600X, Asus 3060 Dual oc12g-v2, 16 Gb Kingston Fury Beast RGB, 1Tb Samsung Pro 980, Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact and be quiet System Power 10 650W. Price including taxes etc, Finnish retail, some black friday savings (under 200 total). As a not yet teen, they won't be playing any latest AAA titles etc. Price of course excludes monitor and periferals, but got a black friday deal on a 27" for a hundred, and keyboard and mouse is being gifted from family for his birthday =)
Have to disagree with Jay here too, LGA 1700 most likely is a dead end knowing Intel history. All amd 7000 series have igpu. Not sure how price are in USA but in Europe difference between 4060 and 3060 is about 30-50 euros, and for sure 4060 is cheaper than 3060ti talking about new cards. And for such small premium you get newer hardware that supports dlss 3.0. I have personally ryzen 5600 and rx 6800 non XT. But if I would be going nvidia would go 4060 rather than 3060. Am 5 should have few more cpu releases in the future, so upgrade path would be open, and ddr5 could be reused in future builds, ddr4 is nearing end of life cycle.
Yeah 14th gen was already a "bonus" generation for lga1700. There is literally 2 cpus he can "upgrade" to!
Wait a minute jay. I'm sure someone beat me to the punch bt the 7600x does have a igpu, which makes the rest of this video invalid. Also, bios update. You know this man.
This H6 Flow is definitely one of the better takes on the O11 Dynamic genre of cases
Ryzen 7600, RX 7700 XT, 32GB 5600, Montech Air X, HCG 1000W, Mag B650 Tomahawk wifi.
Maybe slightly increase budget to get RX 7800 XT instead.
Love it been wanting to make my first build. May actually pull the trigger now.
8:20 What the... I have my computer hooked up to my Sony 65" 4K 120 Hz TV. What's wrong with that?
"Upgrade Path" and Intel I don't think go together, but maybe that's just because AMD managed 4 (actual) generations of CPU in the same socket. It's crazy they went from the 1700 to the 5800X3D in the same socket and many first gen Ryzen mobos.
For $1500? I would have gone 7800X3D, 7800XT, Gigabyte Gaming X b650. That would have you between 1000-1100. You would prolly spend another 150 for RAM and storage. Another 100 for solid psu. That leaves 150-250 for case and cooling. Seems doable. That is just me. I'm team AMD all the way. The price to performance is unbeatable.
Jay, the 7600x does actually have an IGPU according to the AMD official webpage for its specs.
Also, is it possible that you can do a basic breakdown of the differences between DDR4 and DDR5? When I look at the two (Primarily the timings, CL, and real world latency), I struggle to understand how DDR5 is in any way better than DDR4.
all zen 4 has igpu, 7500XF is 7600X without igpu, that's the only part
ddr 5 is faster because it is faster in frequency, timings show delays in certain points but 3200mhz vs 6000mhz has a big difference, worse timings doesn't give that much to make it worse, but when you overclock ,you don't want to touch frequencies you want better timing, mostly triary and quaternary for biggest uplift, but ultimately, DDR 5 is more dense and provides twice as much memory,
tbh going ddr 4 4000 to ddr 5 7200 in many cases will give 0 uplift in some like 6-8%, it still has to mature and get more tight timings to be really good, also from what i remember they are more power efficient, that's also that
Hardware Unboxed just did a video comparing DDR5 on Intel vs a high end DDR4 kit on Intel if you want to see some difference in games.
@@1Grainer1 Thanks, I still don't fully understand how it is faster with worse timings but that is just my limited understanding of the subject. FWIW: I feel like I would be a lot more accepting of DDR5 if it was a new gen of DDR4. IE the same tight timings of DDR4 but with a higher base clock of say 3000. The max memory and bandwidth on DDR5 is nice, but I believe it does effectively nothing for most people.
@@shadowwolf2608 you can look at it this way, mhz aswell called mega transfers, is speed data is moved from and into RAM, so write and read
now timings are certains point in this process, that take certain time to process, like memory allocation in dim etc
so now you have 20mb data packet
with 3000mhz it will move for 200 nano seconds, with 6000 it will move for 100, and now you have to add timings as latency thats kind of static value
so at this point you have that ddr 4 with better timings will be better for transfer the smaller packet is, and ddr 5 will be better with bigger packets
so at this point, if you have game that have same packet sizes, increasing mhz doesn't always give boost in performance if timings suffer, because timings delay can make it longer even if ram is faster, that's why going over 6000 isn't that big of a deal, 7600 would be 2-3% difference, but if you get way tighter timings, you can reduce that static values wich will increase speed of everything, thats why 4800 tuned well can give better performance than auto tuned 6000
it's not professional statement, nor that educated, but should work good for basic understanding how things work without getting into nitpicking what exactly does what and how it's measured
Wait, what? Isn't the LGA1700 a dead platform? An AM5 platform just makes too much sense here.
As per other comments, the AM5 build would have been the better option for longevity etc and it does have an Igpu. DDR5 is now pretty much as cheap (you'd probably go base 4800mhz and still be faster than the 3000mhz ddr4 here). Speaking of which given the memory prices 32gb of at least 3200mhz cl16 is dirt cheap.
I like the format of this vid. Personally I'd like to see a "most bang for the buck" build...Not top of the line but not AliExpress. Something along the lines of a 7800X3D paired with a reasonable GPU.
as i saw and googled it afterwards, the 7600x from amd has an igpu xD and the non x isnt that slower, less heat, less money so easier to cool and upgradeable due to AM5 ^^
Jay: I will use intel becouse amd cpus often retrain memory, intel just works
AMD: OH does it now
I am super stoked at this build. I'm building a new system for the first time in *9* years. My soon to be extinct machine was built into a pidgeon hole because I didn't know any better. A large focus of mine on this one is upgradability. You and I made very similar choices for very similar reasonings. Oh and now I'm sweating my 13600k posting. Thanks for that! ;)
Don't follow this build guide dude, especially if your budget is $1500. For that price, you can get on the ddr5 platform, have a much better gpu, and actually have a z790 board
@@socrguy123But actually. This is awful.
@@jamesmoriarty9433 it is, but just trying to point out exactly how awful. Not even trying I parted out a 13600k/3070ti on Newegg for the $1500 price point. That's not even searching for deals
@JayzTwoCents, the 7600x absolutely does have an igpu, the only AM5 cpu without one is the 7500F, please double check stuff like that before spreading disinformation
He can be a bit dense sometimes but as can we all cmon man
YTbers are people, people make mistakes, don't crucify them for a small detail
Pretty sure based on context he meant the KF not the 7600x as he spoke to not using AMD after.
Always some bullshit issue with AMD as opposed to Intel when building.
And here, we have a case of the accuser being guilty of the accusation - if their own rules apply - due to ignorance in word choice. "...spread disinformation," would imply that Jay's claim is intentionally deceptive, which I would argue is false. "Misinformation," would be a slightly better fit. Though, I would argue that you both simply made an ERROR.
The general things we've been going with lately: 12600k, ASrock z690 board, 32 gigs of DDR4 RAM at 3200, 1t game drive 500m os drive (nvme SSD at 3000-5000 depending on what's cheapest, pci4), Whatever case floats the boat of whoever's getting the computer, a pack of Arctic fans, cooler tbd by case choice, and as much graphics card as the rest of the budget allows, depending on whether monitor, speakers, etc. are needed, modular power supply between 750-850 watts depending on the graphics card and update plans. Crucial, I think, mostly.
The RX 6700 and RX 6800 have been getting most of our love for being in that sweet spot of price and performance for 2k gaming.
Mostly been going with older fractal cases because they're cheap and easy to work with.
If monitor needed, 27 inch 2k monitors at 165-ish hz are a good price/performance sweet spot at a couple hundred bucks. This makes a system that can handle most games at a good framerate at 2k.
Helped a buddy upgrade from first gen ryzen.

Deep cool a620? CPU dual tower cooler

Rx6800 - only $370 on Amazon.
Reused his storage.
Only upgrade if budget had allowed was 7800xt or 7900xt.
I see a ton of comments, but not one that answered your question. Personally, the build I'm parting out in my mind is an ITX (never did SFF) - Fractal Terra, any mobo but Asus (my current one has been a headache), 12/13600 Intel, 32 gb of ram (DDR4/5 dependent on cost and mobo), a 2/4tb NvME for games paired with a 512 (already owned) boot drive, Be Quiet/Noctua low profile cooler, and then the most controversial choice.... an Intel Arc graphics card. I've really wanted to give one a shot since they came out on the market, and if I hate it right away I can exchange it for an AMD. I'd like to use it for at least six months before giving up on it.
This build looks really sweet though, and whoever gets it will be really lucky! Cheers!
And in all these years of PC building, i thought i was milking goats. The K6-2 says NAAAH!
R5 7600x doesn’t have IGPU ? Are you sure??
Regarding how I'd spec a $1500 build, $100 max for a case with 3 fans, for sure. Everyone's forgotten that traditional (lol) case layout is excellent. That and a smaller cooler would easily give me enough to bump up the GPU without really losing anything.
I am not spending 1500 in 12600k in a dead platform and a 3060ti. It would be better just to drink that money in a bar... seriously a 7800x3d and a 7800xt will be more wise
My 2500K was DOA. Got a replacement same day from the computer store. Still have it to this day.
I feel like this is more about what Jay had in old inventory that could become a good budget gamer rather than thinking that much about upgrade paths 😊 (and/or who is paying for this has a personal preference for Intel)
Well, youre wrong...
@@Jayztwocentshe's not. Your choices were stupid in CPU, GPU and ram department. Specially for a 1.5k pc!!!
Fair - actually if I where going to build for a friend like this, I would have also chosen an Intel z690/790 platform :) @@Jayztwocents
Linus called they want their bad video back
Upgrade path really? Cheaping on the DDR4 is understandable if money is extra tight...proceeds to use a 130$ case and a 100$ tower cooler and 25$ fans.
Sorry Jay, this video sucks, misses the mark.
If money were tight 12400 with intel box cooler, ddr4 at 3000mhz and a phanteks 60$ case would really be the way to go, able to get a 14700k in a few years and 3600+ ram, although wait too long and ddr4 will creap as the mentioned SSDs.
Forgot to even start on the bios miss!!
Your right. His picks were stupid. I would get 7600x and 7800XT with good ram and still finish under 1.5k!
I have the be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 and I dig the aesthetics better on that than the DRP5 on. (Just a preference) and gosh the OCD I am having. I would have definitely swapped all the NZXT fans, but regardless. Solid build.
7600X has no igpu? lol
MONEY, money, money...................so good..............
That's not very upgradable system for a system that supposed to upgraded.
Many users who have invested in Intel's platforms have been disappointed by the lack of a clear and easy upgrade path for their systems. Intel has been changing its socket design frequently, requiring new motherboards for each generation of processors. This means that users who want to upgrade their CPUs have to also buy new motherboards, which adds to the cost and hassle of upgrading. Additionally, Intel has been lagging behind its competitors (AMD)in terms of power efficiency, making its platform less attractive for future-proofing
Two reasons to choose AMD insted :
-Better value for money
AMD processors are generally cheaper than their Intel counterparts, while still offering comparable performance.
- Better power efficiency
AMD processors are more power-efficient than Intel processors, which can translate to lower electricity bills and less heat generation.
That being said, Intel still has some advantages over AMD, such as better single-core performance and better gaming performance in some cases .
All 7k series Ryzens have 2 gpu cores...except the 7500f as far as I know.
Made almost the same build earlier this year, but with Z790 board, 32GB DDR5, a 1350W PSU and an AIO in a be quite! Dark Base 900 Pro. since I had one SSD I bought another one.
currently I'm waiting for the third SSD (4TB extra) and I'm going to remove the AIO to install a custom loop next year, I might also get a 4070 SUPER or SUPER TI
