At 5:56, the air intake kit installed causes the engine to draw in hot engine compartment air. Cold air is not ducted into the intake from outside the engine compartment. This kit is detrimental, causing hotter, less dense air to be taken into the engine, which will make less power and reduced fuel mileage.
Recent study from Harvard University? Lol really? I did a quick google search just to give you the benefit of the doubt and, surely enough, no study exists. It’s even more amusing that nobody questioned this. Lol why the fck would Harvard be studying aftermarket exhaust systems 😂😂😂😂
At my house we have a variety of vehicles. In the diesel area, our Cummins powered truck is a total beast. The axle ratio is a tall 3.42, with 33" stock tires. The Ecodiesel truck is much milder. But switching to a Flowmaster 50 series HD Big Block muffler. And a Bank's silencer delete. Elinated the throttle lag. The 3.92 axle ratio Ecodiesel became a pleasure to drive onroad or offroad.
True fact; a study at a shop with a dyno once did a test on a Honda with stock air intake vs two aftermarket cold air intakes---the stock intake won. And on a stock engine, adding an aftermarket exhaust is worth maybe 5 HP. Trying to build HP by replacing just an intake or an exhaust is worthless---mods should be performed in a system approach.
But if you do both a full exhaust and intake, shouldn't that give more breathing to the engine? At least it should improve responsiveness, but combined with an ecu tune those should give more horses right?
"Changing your vehicle's serpentine belt can be accomplished with basic hand tools." (3:17 - some tool's gloved and presumably 'basic' hand, fumbling around near a belt.)
Be careful with oiled air filters. They're great for carburetors, but the oil can be sucked into the induction system in minute amounts and contaminate mass air sensors. Best tip for longevity, change your oil. Worst tip for engine longevity, give 'er a shot of NOS every time you hit the gas. Nothing like stress to let an engine know you love it so.
Exhaust, Tune, NOS and belts/wires... yup. I have my exhaust done, a tune no NOS and haven't replaced any belts or wires so I should probably get on that to gain the most HP...
@@zassindahaus3993 I wish I'd known that before I let my little girl put stickers all over the bumper. Started it up and ripped it right off the motor mounts. Think it could have been the unicorns smh.
Soooooo correct on the transfluid . The old fluid with the worn clutch material in it provides good needed friction . IF it's very very black n burnt smelly do a filter change and only a 50/50 fluid change . Re use 50% of the old trans fluid
Am I hearing right, that by tuning the ECU... air, power, speed, fuel delivery and fuel economy will increase? Sounds a lot like a "free lunch" to me. 1:47
Saul Espino , perfect air/fuel ratio creates the most power. Many tunes pull out a little bit of fuel, running a little leaner than factory “safe” setting.
I just got a bit dumber, good to know Harvard says exhaust upgrades give you some ponies though and telling me to change my plug wires while showing me a knock sensor is great advice.

The theory is that larger size pipes front to rear increases the air flow out. Smaller size pipe tends to slow the air flow down which can inhibit airflow limiting horse power.
Upgrades or modifications like these will also void a new car warranty. But besides that fact take it to your dealership to to get the work done not a problem. Just don’t do it yourself.
Some of these tweaks are not good ideas depending on which state you live in. If you install a ECM that has been remapped....yes it will give better performance BUT is no longer compliant with smog regulations. If you try to take your car through a smog check station likely it will fail. Intentional breaking of emission regulations can open your up to big fines also from the EPA if they catch you. I think saying these changes will make your engine run better may be incorrect....they will make more hp and increase performance but often at the expense of longevity and/or being legal for street use. If you look at most of these type mods, they say that they are "For Off Road Use Only". That is the after market companies way of putting the onus on you if you get caught. Note that currently the EPA is going after the companies making these after market performance products that are often installed on cars that are driven on the street. This is a serous issue in California with these companies....I am starting to see articles about this.
The first couple mods will either blow your engine/invalidate the warranty And or cause the check engine light to come on. Come on NOS & Large aftermarket intake are stupid I’m not a man child in high school.
