Thanks, wonderful video, well prepared cars and drivers with experience, good idea chowing the same terrain with rain and dry conditions, nice to see the better traction with the useful upgrades , I have the same configuration on my disco 2 including a which, and cdl, maybe one day I will install a rear differential lock , greetings from France
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I am happy my videos have a far reach. (I am in Canada) I would like to get a winch soon too. I do a lot of solo off road driving, so I often need to be very cautious. Thanks for watching!
I like the Grand Cherokee a lot. Both the ZJ and WJ. I even like the newest ones too, Wk2 and WL platforms. I drive the green Land Rover in the video, but I’ve also spent some time in the Jeep. It’s much more powerful than my old Land Rover 4.0L. The quadra drive II system works really well too.
The video turned out great! Only the music at the beginning is very similar to the music from Tinto Brass films😅 thanks for the video, beautiful nature
I really enjoyed your video and I subscribed right after watching. I would have scribed for all the effort you put into it alone, never mind the excellent footage itself. I bought my 2001disco new. She has been a commitment. Anyone who's owned one for some time knows what I'm talking about. Yours is a beast compared to my everyday ride to my job sights. Thanks again for such excellent content. Oh Ya! Did I see you use "regular" fuel?
Thank you for watching and subscribing! I enjoy making these videos. I may not release new videos often, but when I do I always try to put a lot of effort in. I enjoy hearing you’ve had your disco since new. I certainly understand the “commitment” comment, as even in the 4 years I’ve had my three disco’s, they’ve all required my full attention. But nothing unusual considering the rough terrain I often drive through. Best of luck with your disco. Stay posted for the next one
Thank you for watching! I have not fitted extended brake lines yet, but I intend to. If I were to increase the suspension articulation any further, it would surely stretch them.
Thank you! The previous owner had removed the centre resonator and fitted a magnaflow exhaust, then removed the tailpipe and small muffler at the rear. I may end up installing the factory rear muffler again, but until then it does sound pretty good! This disco is very basic compared to my last one. No air suspension, no ACE. I do miss having ACE, as that is a really great system
Awsm! nice yea seems that magneflow is a pretty popular route for exhuast mods. I have the ACE right now and either its pump or the power steering pumps is whining which takes away from the nice sound of the 4.0, hopefully will have it sorted someday soon. Awsm man, thank you for replying. Looking forward to more vids from you! @@VanIsleDisco
@@ryanhood721 it is, it’s a BOSS BCPA10. It works pretty well, but you need to run a wire from the headlight dimmer switch power supply, as the factory illumination wire doesn’t supply enough voltage. The display will flicker between night and day mode if you don’t.
Is that year Jeep full-time four-wheel drive and if so do the full-time have a locking transfer case to make it regular four-wheel drive kind of like the CDL on the Disco? I saw one for sale at an auction once saying full-time four-wheel drive and when I got inside I just saw high or low but I didn't see a way to lock it unless putting it into low electronically locks the transfer case and there is just no locked High like the Disco having locked and unlocked for high and low. Also does that jeep have traction control? I swear I saw a moment where it literally looks like it's fun and then grabbed unless it just happened to catch traction
Hello Ronald, thanks for watching. The Jeep has what is called “quadra drive II” which is a full time 4 wheel drive system featuring 3 viscous differentials. The front and rear differentials are a viscous limited slip, and the transfer case is operated with a viscous coupling in 4 high. I believe in 4 low it locks the centre coupling. It does not have traction control. It is a very capable and comparable system
@@VanIsleDisco QuadraDrive. QuadraDrive is entirely mechanical. Well, unless you count the hydraulic fluid. Yes, 4Lo locks the transfer case. QuadraDrive II is electronic, and was available in the following generations WK, WK2, and now WL.
Yes, I locked the centre diff, as well as used manual mode 2nd and 3rd gear to get up. It is very steep. In the dry conditions, the front left wheel lifts often and hovers during the ascent.
@@VanIsleDisco The video clearly shows how slippery that becomes in the wet. The only thing I can think of would be to use even lower tyre pressures. 25 PSI on the rear is quite high for that kind of off road use. Nice video though. @@clivereidyes I agree my disco has 33 inch mud terrain tires that are pretty aggressive and I bring them down to 20 lb or less also my front and rear sway bars are completely deleted so stuff like that it will crawl up pretty good almost to the point where I go slower and slower and slower kind of to the amusement of any Spectators who get excited because that's kind of a thing is going really slow with the RC cars so I do it and they love it cuz they expect you to go up something challenging fast as possible
The Grand Cherokee 4.7L H.O V8 is definitely better on fuel as it is more powerful and the transmission has an additional gear. It is also a little more plush inside and the seating position is more relaxed than the upright discovery 2 seating.
