Absolutely fantastic Tom, I have a deep affection for the Alps, not skiing but cycling the climbs and following the Pro’s on the Tour and Giro. I’m now preparing my Disco 1 for a week of Welsh lanes and wild camping in January and will raise a cup to a fellow scenic coffee addict. Keep up the great work 👍
This is inspiring and a dream I'd love to live. However, I have a question on how you could go to such remote locations without support and other vehicles?
Trust the truck and the work put into it, carry a few good spares and hope for the best. With some good emergency covered for the worst case scenario ☺️
Lovely stuff D2 roof is super flat for RTT Remove the useless rear foldable seats and you have tons of space for your camping gear. Just love those roads Enjoy life nature cheers from Sri Lanka
I see you are letting Rex run the factory rear bumper... I am on my 3rd one. They get so brittle with age. Rex is now legal to drink in the US - age 21... Hahaha Cheers!
Really enjoyed that - thank you. Cinematic, thought-provoking and inspiring - clearly a lot of work to put together. I’m at the beginning of my overlanding journey, to get me out in wilder and wilder places for photographing the night sky. These alpine routes have just made it on to my list! Subscribed and looking forward to checking out your other adventures. Paul.

Hi Tom, actually I was looking for LR Discovery2 stories when I stumbled over this channel and liked it....I did col del Sommeiller during the Stella Alpina Rally for motorcycles...I remember it was brutal and I was completely exhausted! I would like to know how the Disco is holding up, is it a reliable partner? For me it's one of the best looking Landrovers so far but it's reputation is somewhat unreliable. I went from motorcycle camping to a camper, but I feel like the the difference is to big...now I'm thinking to build a 4x4 like your Disco to reduce my footprint and be closer to nature. Would you recommend the Discovery2 Td5? Keep up the good work 👍🏻.
Hey mate, holding up pretty well so far! Few niggles here and there but I think the biggest thing is to keep on top of stuff as much as possible. They’re a great truck and I love it just gotta learn them inside out and know what to keep on top of 🥰
Stunning video mate! Well done! I did the Tunnel du Parpaillon in August of this year, very spectacular! I'm interested to know at what time of the year you did this trip? I'm planning to go and do some more trails in the Alps this year :) Cheers from Belgium!
Thanks for the love mate! I would have been coming up into the alps around end of June early July. The tunnel du parpaillon only opened the morning I got there due to being blocked by ice. And the col de sommelier was still pretty snowy up the top.
Thanks for the quick get back! Yeah, I was wondering when this was, because of all of that snow up top! Good stuff! I watched your other videos and you pretty much did the same trip as me, from the west to east through the pyrenees, only earlier in the year! Keep up the work! Looks stunning! Good on ya! @@overlanddiscovery365
Great video, new subscriber here and IG. Fellow cameras and offroad fan here! :) I am still to plan my first journey on my D1, but your video made me wanna jump out of the couch already. Any chance you could share the track just out of curiosity? The frames and drone shots are really neat and effective, I would only humbly suggest you balance your voice a bit better, because sometimes its a bit difficult to understand with the music, and we get pulled away from your gorgeous shots. Really well done! Keep it up!
A few things struck me here; 1. Is this legal in Europe? 2. Did you get permits to fly recreational drones in the alps? Assuming its over 250g you need one. If you are flying in a nature reserve or national park it is strictly forbidden to fly. 3. Do you have a map with all the paths taken? It'd be interesting to see which sections I could squeeze into my cross alps trip.
the simple things become more beautiful on adventures like this...especially French press coffee! 🙂New subscriber but in for the journey... thanks Tom
Ahah isn’t that true! Thanks for the love mate I appreciate the support!

@@overlanddiscovery365 I just moved to a Terrafirma steel bumper with recovery points last weekend. We will see how it performs. Keep up the videos.

Great clip. What awning do You have ?
It’s the 270 xt from the bush company
Solid looking Disco. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your wheel set up? Also are you using wheel spacers?
Currently running 285 75 r16 insa turbo k2mts on tuff torq 16x8 with a -35 offset no spacers

fantastic landscapes and outstanding editing! did you explore on your own or used some ready tracks?
Bit of both the tracks in this area are quite well established but there always a bit of exploration that goes with it when solo for sure

@@overlanddiscovery365 sorry I meant how do you manage to fly it whilst driving? I’d end up in a ravine 🤣
@AnthonyWilliams-vh1ds ahah so generally I set it to track the car but I’ll adjust it as I go to get the shots I want 🥰
@@overlanddiscovery365 is that a DJI mini 3 then? I have the 2 but the 3 is tempting for that feature.
