@@weisstofall2615 The lance wasn't the only thing that made Percival powerful though. He's still legitimately powerful due to his skills as a knight. When Bradamante clashed against Percival, she acknowledged that he was stronger than her after the first blow
Honestly, people tend to forget that members of the Knights of the Round Table and the Paladins of Charlemagne would decimate a HGW under normal circumstances. Roland and Percival would automatically make their masters win as long as another servant doesn’t have some bs hax ability.
@@elontusk9167 exactly. Zero has made people forget this, but in the proper stay night timeline, even with Iskandar having still been summoned, she has literally no trouble with any of the other servants summoned except for Gilgamesh.
The shield being bolted to armor thing is an *actual* historic tactic. Specifically it was used by knights during jousting competitions and was a major part of the sport. For complete information: knights would wear special jousting armors with the shield bolted to their armor and have it painted some highly contrasting color because *that was the intended target* for the other knight to hit. This made sure they hit the most heavily defended area of your armor so you didn't... ya know... die when you got hit with the collective force of two charging horses.
Odd that the Morgan we summon seems to be the Lostbelt version, yet with Percy it would be strictly based on his PHH legend. The Throne of Heroes seems to have no issue writing Lostbelt figures into itself once Chaldea's interacted with them, so you'd think he would also apply.
If I were to make a guess as to why that is, I think it's because the faeries in Lostbelt 6 are still Spirits, and would thus have a Saint Graph for Chaldeas to record for a potential summoning. This is in contrast to Lostbelt!Percival, who is fully human and thus wouldn't have a Saint Graph to be recorded. On top of the fact that PHH!Percival is famous enough to be in the Throne of Heroes on his own. I don't _think_ summoning Lostbelt!Percival is impossible, but it seems less likely to happen than the rest of the LB6 cast besides Lostbelt!Gareth and Redra Bit.
We also get Bedivere that is from Lion King Timeline while PHH is unheard of and "don't have much story" or smth like this bs. While we have myths of him defeating giants.
@@travonarmstrong6093Nah, everyone can be made into a Saint Graph if they're strong enough. The case of having LB variants vs PHH ones in summoning is mainly when the LB version is so drastically different than their skillset and/or design become their own, and separate. LB Percival might have a lot of different characteristics, but their only gameplay difference is the side effects of the Noble Phantasm, and everything else is basically the same with a different name.
I personally take Perceval's implied survival of the Grail Quest in FGO as a retcon, due to FGO taking far more inspiration from the Wagner opera, rather than a mistake. Originally the limited information about Perceval in Fate works, such as Garden of Avalon, did imply that Perceval died at the end of the quest since those works were just briefly summarizing Malroy, but that's not in Wagner's take nor is it in Robert de Boron's unfinished poems/Didot Perceval. In Didot Perceval, he even survives past King Arthur and rules as the Grail King.
I was just reading through Percival's new Interlude when I saw it! Percival says to Mordred: "You certainly have a way with words Mordred... I guess that is part of your charm. However, I don't think you should talk to your older sister that way." In reference to Gareth. So FGO DOES acknowledge that Gareth is Mordred's older sister!
a thing you didnt mention during the depiction, we cant even cheat a bit bc if you look a his profile, even the skills of lostbelt percival are different, Protection from the Holy Grail ->Teachings of the Eternal; Guardian Knight (Holy Lance)->Percival; Light of Salvation->For the Innocent. even his np is Lost Longinus instead of Longinus count zero, so they really wanted to hammer down the fact that they're different characters
I feel like Melu and Perci in LB6 bear more than just a similarity to his story with Kundry. In consequence to their sibling-like relationship, Melusine is constantly telling her little brother to stop his foolish quest, to come back to her, a woman who has both the power and the authority to keep him safe. For Percival, an artificial human who is pretty much doomed to die if he keeps fighting (and using the lance), that should be a pretty tempting offer, thus, fulfilling her role as his temptress. But yeah, unfortunately, LB6 and regular Percival are not literall the same, so they should be taken as different characters. Buuut, we could say he's technically the same, as parts of what we saw in LB6 were a retelling of what PHH Percival's Grail Quest entailed, just played with different actors + some changes to fit the story they wanted to tell. Pretty neat video! Always love it when people tall historical/mythological/fictional content, and check how that is portrayed in characters in media (in this case, FGO).
A video idea for you : Make a tier list of servants based on their accuracy grades. Also I want to ask, will you give accuracy grade to servants you've covered before "How Accurate" series?
That tier list sounds like something to do later on when I've covered most everyone. As for the three other servants I did? Charlotte, Sanson, and Marie? Yes I plan to do them with videos in this format someday.
I don't think Fate understands what the spear of Longinus is about. That stuff is bathed in the blood of big G God, it doesn't just pierce any armor, has holy properties, can heal wounds and is the *spear of promised victory* just like Excalibur those who wield it cannot lose. I think it is a notch or two higher than Rhongominyad, I actually think it should have been Longinus instead of Rhongominyad that turned Arthur into a godlike being.
This isn't directly related to Percival, but something you may want to consider in the future is the normal attack animations of some characters (espcially the Extra attack). One that comes to mind is Hokusai, who appears to reference another painting in her Extra attack. Love this series though, just binged all of it recently. Good job.
I do bring in attack animations at times when they are worthy of note. I've yet to do a video on Hokusai, but her attack animations are going to feature big-time for her eventual video - that's too big to ignore. My next video on Muramasa is also going to dig into his animations a bit. Glad you are enjoying the videos! :D
@@CrazyYurie Haha, I guess I binged too many videos at once. Attack animations are seldom actually notable to begin with, so I must've forgotten the times you did mention them. Definitely looking forward to the Muramasa video then!
Well, Percival himself is a rather interesting person to talk about: -I've said it in the King Arthur Video but Percival's Lance should be alot stronger than it's depicted. It should at least have had an Anti-Divine buff considering it pierced Christ. I still feel as though they attrbuted some of what Longinus can do and gave it to Rhongomyniad. - Percival having a white colour scheme fits him better than any other colour in my eyes, he's supposed to be a pure soul with sybolisms for the dove. To me, white was the only colour fitting for him. - Also yeah, I feel as though Percival got shafted in the grail quest. It feels as though his and Galahad's ending should have been flipped especially considering Percival started the quest and it's his most relevant story. - It's also ironic that a large ammount of focus was taken away from him in FGO as well. Galahad took it in the Grail Quest while his Lostbelt conterpart did so in FGO. - A detail I like about his NP is that it'll heal the party member with the lowest health, not just himself, showing how Percival will look out for his allies in thier time of need. Could have probrably used a debuff cleanse as well considering he's known to break curses.
Tbh, we don't have much screen time of the original Percival than LB Percival. Until we get the new Fate LN (Fate/Lost Einherjar), we won't know much about Percival other than He actually won three holy Grail war before the event of Fate/Lost Einherjar.
