I mess with Samurai Champloo's aesthetic so heavily. The aesthetic is a perfect marriage between Japanese and Black American subcultures.
Growing up in a ghetto, there wasn't a lot of space for peace. Like a lot of other black kids growing up, art music and playing sports were my escape from seeing family members succumb to the gang culture that haunted us from the South to New York and even New England. Fell in love with hip-hop and anime as I grew up and grew out of playing sports. So seeing this was something beautiful. Seeing the art direction of this show as a kid was like seeing my two favorite super heroes fighting side by side and just never forgetting that moment.
I feel at peace. I love Art & Music, man.

I have a deep respect for Japanese culture, the eastern ways of thinking in general. It differs from us in the states here in the west coast of America. Much love to Samurai Champloo, Nujabes, Fat Jon, Mugen, Jin, and Fuu.
Much respect to fans of anime, Japan, and the blend of hip hop/rap/Asian culture adapting to the West as well as Shing

I used to hear this theme all the time when watching Samurai Champloo on Hulu. Honestly, around the time I watched this anime, I remember my eyes were in excruciating pain and it was usually in between nights and sunrise. Basically, staying up throughout the week as I was on summer break if I recall. I remember a strange feeling from the show, like I was being sucked into a whole new world and into an era from long ago that perhaps did or didn't exist. Besides that, it's like a simple journey that started from wanting to find the man who smells of sunflowers to a separate path. To get there, there are many trials and tribulations as our three main characters, Mugen, Jin, and Fuu embark on their journey. They end up becoming well developed as both Mugen and Jin have to confront their past and also, some newfound enemies/obstacles. Fuu reaches the man who smells of sunflowers, known as Seizo Kasumi, who is also her father. All Fuu sees is a sickened and bedridden old man who ends up dying if I remember correctly. Anyway, Seizo is killed by some samrurai and Jin supposedly avenges Fuu's father and uses a technique to quickly end the fight. Mugen fought this samurai too if I remember before or after Jin. Anyway, after whatever conflict is dealt with at the end, Mugen, Jin, and Fuu all part ways to never see each other again as the journey is over. It seemed pointless, as the man they've been searching for ends up dying in the process so what was the point? What was the point of all three of them coming together to search for a man Fuu is looking for with both Mugen and Jin's assistance whose fate ends up catching up to him evantually? I believe the whole point was not the goal, but the experience. It's also like real life. I was once told by someone that they never plan ahead but rather take one step at a time and let things be. I believe the lesson is that sometimes life can take us on many roads and opportunities in life but it is up to us to discover as to what is better for one self at the conclusion point. Maybe the Samurai Champloo story didn't have no motive at all and we just watched a 15 year old girl and some two samurai men embark on a long and dreadful quest for the fun of it. Maybe the entire reason we enjoy this classic of a series and the vibe it delivers is because it's not about what is the agenda, it's how we make the effort to view their realization towards it. Or maybe I'm just some rambling idiot typing too much lol. Either way, it's more or so a " food for thought " type of circumstance.
