    This is awesome! Now, we just need a slimmer one for something like a sliding-glass door.

    apart from the lock, you want to put a longer metal strip on the side of the door than you have, it has six screws rather than two, makes it harder to kick open, you need to add longer screws also.

    Is the lock reversible? Does the same lock work on left hinged and right hinged doors?

    Great review! Is this rated for outdoor use? I’m currently looking for a homekit door lock for my fence.

      Hi Andrew, any idea of this is rated for outdoor?

    Not sure if I missed this in the video's demo since I was looking for it, but can this open from the inside while locked? We have toddlers, which can open our current electronic lever lock and we had to install an external latch to prevent them from accidentally going outside. It defeats the purpose of the electronic lock because if its latched from the inside, you'd still have to knock if youre outside trying to get in. We're looking for a lock that CANNOT open from the inside while locked.

    This doesn’t work outside US/Canada now. It’s very sad.

      Samsung makes a fingerprint lock that is also a smart wifi lock (so you can use it with digital assistants). It's not cheap though

    Long does the battery usually last until you need to replace the four batteries?

    Classc Assure look! It is a little pricey for an interior door

    Hoe much was it?. This is something I need for my bedroom and for privacy when I am away at work. I have a sister who constantly breaks into my bedroom and steals from me. I need privacy like this

    Also works with Amazon Alexa and Google home. Not specific to Apple's lesser known homekit.

    • @ahale1987
      @ahale1987 5 лет назад

      Yes, but the majority of AI's smart-home videos are focused on HomeKit, so the likelihood of you watching this video and NOT being a HomeKit user (or interested in HK) is fairly low.

      @@ahale1987 I actually liked the smart lock shown in the thumbnail, hence why I watched this on my Galaxy Tab 5S e. I left the Apple cult last year after having an iphone for the past 10 years. Unfortunately, Apple products no longer have the great build quality and reliability they had 10 years ago. Apple no longer innovate. Now they just ship grossly overpriced, outdated, unreliable clunky junk for teenagers and adolescents. Have a good one.👍🏻

    Save your money, my Assure Yale lock broke just after a year and the electronic warranty expires right at 1 year. Customer service was not good, as they refused to have a manager talk with me.

      @wanaraz 4 года назад

      A latch is easier to open. They make this lock with a deadbolt.

    I just bought this and even if the door is locked from inside you can just turn the handle and it will unlock / be able to open the door. which just totally sucks. Anyway to get around that? I need something child proof. I have a 2 year old and he can just walk up to my door which goes into garage and pulls the lever down and it will unlocks. What a waste and saftey issue. Almost $200 spent on this damn thing which is the only reason why i bought this to keep my little one opening the door and doing the same thing which i dont want. You have any idea so it cant open the door from inside when the turn knob is in locked position? Thanks

    • @wanaraz
      @wanaraz 4 года назад

      A door lock always has to open on the inside for fire. Buy the same lock in a deadbolt and mount it higher. I used to sneak out at two years old. LOL

      Not possible yet, Apple Watch currently doesn’t support background NFC reading.

      Apple just announced CarKeyKit, so house keys would be a natural extension of that feature. It’s probably still a few years off though.

      @@irayankhan2658 It does work with my college we have keycards that have some sort of touch less tech and my Apple watch works on the contact pads to unblock areas. IDK if they are using RFID or NFC, but I have to have transit pass enabled and have my college ID card as the transit card.

    Manually charging/replacing batteries suck. We NEED OTA-Power ASAP. Nothing should be plugged in anymore - cords should NOT exist in the 2020s! Our grandchildren will laugh at all of us for using cords for so long!
    Now that my (1) OTA-Power rant is done, I’d love to be able to see a smart lock that (2) has a fingerprint sensor (with unlimited user functionality) and (3) NFC technology.
    I cannot wait until Apple, Amazon, and Google finally create a single-use platform that works with all of the major companies (such as those called out above). Any smart plug, smart light, smart lock, etc. should be able to be used with all the different smart assistants - 2020 will be the year that finally happens!
