- This video will explain a quick and easy way to remove labels and glue from glass bottles.
If you're trying to reuse store-bought kombucha bottles for your home-brew kombucha batches, you know how hard it can be to remove those labels, especially if they've gone through the dishwasher a few times.
Using just 2 common household items - and without boiling - I'll show you how you can get those annoying labels off in just minutes.
These Kambucha botttles with the plastic lables leave a partiularly sticky residue. Peel the entire lable slowly and you should be able to get them to come off in one piece. Spray WD-40 on the sticky glue and wipe off with a paper towel. May have to rub it a bit but it will come off fairly easily. WD-40 is concidered food safe (look it up. you can eat it. don't. but you could) The WD-40 residue is easily washed of with warm water and some dishwashing detergent. Very easy. WD-40. Shake and Bake Get some WD-40
Rib with alcohol or vinegar?
If you want to know. My mom said that its even better with polish cleaner. I tried it on wine bottle and it took 3 minutes to take the glue off
Best way to get the labels off is this. Boil some water. pour it in the bottles. Put the caps on for 1 minute. Start to pull the label off at the seam, slowly. Mine ALWAYS pull right off. Then, pour some peanut oil into a folded up paper towel and wipe it on the bottle. The glue comes right off.. You'll need to hold on to the jar with a washcloth cuz itll be hot. Hold onto the bottle at the lid and make sure it doesnt twist off. Now youll be able to take paper towel and wipe that glue right off!!! This is the easist, fastest way Ive ever tried. After the oil wipe off, youll be able to use dish soap on them and theyll be good as new!! Be careful as the jars will be hot.
I'll have to try that.
I soak my bottles remove as much paper then I use paper towel with any oil soaked in it and it rubs off, specially while bottle is still warm.
Thanks for this that glue is no joke lol
Glad you liked it. I hope it's helpful for you.
