- In grateful memory to Gary Brooker (1945-2022)
Procol Harum celebrating their 30th anniversary in Redhill, 19 July 1997.
Line up :
Gary Brooker - voc, piano
Graham Broad - drums
Dave Bronze - bass
Matthew Fisher - organ,
Mick Grabham - guitar
Matt Pegg - upright bass
An extremly rare recording of A WHITER SHADE OF PALE with all it's four
verses. In 1967 the song was recorded in a two verse version to make it fit the 3 minutes single format. This full version is about 9 minutes long.
This is a private audience long distance shoot, therefor somewhat blurred.
Peter Frampton said that is the best song ever. I agree with the great Peter Frampton. In memory of Gary Brooker, one of the best voices of rock.
John Lennon also said as much, and others....
I'm 80 and it still does it for me, awesome!
My and my deceased wife's all-time favorite. So many memories, so many Karaokes. Such a soulful song. Such a truly great singer!
RIP Gary.
one of the best songs ever written
He took her by the looking glass and forced her to agree omg……..had to get her drunk before she told him the truth ;)
This song still gives me goose bumps all these years later
I've never heard all 4 verses before. Absolutely beautiful!
Been listening to all the versus for 5 years now! I have the song mostly broken down now! Absolutely legendary!!
Me either, and I was 22 in 1967. Never heard it then.
i was actually there with my cousins .it was a night i will always vividly remember .My cousin cut the cake and gave portions out to the audience. I was in stellar space at this concert i love it . Thanks Gary for for giving me all those wonderfil memories over 40n years .
Smooth
One of my favorite all-time songs. A PURE masterpiece.
This is a classic! He will be missed--but his music will live on!
💔😥
Sublime
Nejkrásnější píseň co jsem slyšela, poprvé tajně v rádiu Laxenburg,....👍💕
So sad we will not see Gary live again
This is the greatest song of all times
Arguably the single most transformative song in the history of rock.
Excellent, the hair on my neck react to this, what passion on the key’s.
You can't have the 60s without this song.
Thanks Very much. I love Procol Harum. R.I.P. Gary Brooker 2022.
All four verses live ... file this away folks. Might be the best version of all time.
There will never be another singer like him 2:26
Gets me every time 🥲(happy tears)
Thanks for everything Gary
Please RIP, si🐝x
Little wonder that Boom Radio listeners voted it the number 1 song for the fourth year running. Absolutely stunning. God bless you, Gary, RIP.
This song it's timeless
This is my all time favorite song
My favorite too…
Yes this is ❤️, unbelievable
I reckon so my friend. I recall my Father bringing the 45 record home when it was released, I knew then it was to become timeless....enjoy it like it is the first time everytime, now that is really something good in this troubled world.
This age of time was even short lived ,Love was in the air people were interesting friendly and social and most things were possible ,
These days is the complete opposite
Depends on where you were. Vietnam War was going on killing millions of innocent lives. American youth were rebelling, Black Power was emerging country still in shock after JFK. I wish I'd heard this song then. It could have helped soothe broken hearts. assasination.
@@maureenmannion6748JFK was killed by the Jesuit order ,Jesuit G C spelman ,Jesuit general gave the order after JFK,promised to remove the secrete societies such as the Freemasons who were started by the Roman catholic Jesuits

'63 was the first blow, then came '66 when we began to become acquainted with a country we'd never even heard about before; '68 was the worst. '69 men walked on the moon and I didn't give a damn because our young men were being slaughtered in the dumbest war ever. I danced that night to Bad Moon Rising.
Kent State ended the '60's forever.
Younger generations think we're all capitalist pig aholes. They don't have a clue.😢
I first heard this melody in 1968 on board a Soviet cargo ship crossing the Atlantic. I remember for the rest of my life.
That's a helluva memory.😮
I’ll be listening to this magnificent song with intoxicating, sexy , melody forever. Rest in Peace Gary Brooker ❤️🌹
A beautiful song that will lingers from generation to generation!
Been living close to this song lately. So magical.
The late Gary Brooker, has risen in glory and rests in peace ✌🏿💕
No matter how many times I hear this song it never becomes so so,just a great song and surely the mark of a timeless masterpiece is that it sounds as good the thousandth time as it did the first.
Yes - that is nothing but the truth; it never becomes just so-so. I can't think of many other songs of which that is true - maybe some Beatles' tunes.
Amazing to see how many different languages there are, music unites people !
Yes it’s true
There’s no good music being made now. I think that’s why people are so lost.
Never have we needed it more😢
Gorgeous playing of the organ, wow
and Gary's voice fantastic
BEAUTIFUL.*** REST IN PEACE SWEET SOUL. ***❤💕❤
Just realised Gary Brooker has passed, passing of a legend, RIP
Thank you Hermann for filming this. Will be so missed.
We had the best music ever in the '60's and '70's until the shock of disco.
No song evokes the beauty and brutality of the ''60's for me like this one.
At 78, it makes me cry.
My favourite right to the heart!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
thank you very much for sharing this video.. love it.
This is amazing, I like the way they sing,
Thank you, Hermann! Splendid stuff! I love what Matthew does between verses, too - never the same thing twice.
That's Matthew Fisher on the organ. He wrote the iconic organ part of this song and performed it on the original 1967 release.
That Hammond B3 part in that song is a classic.
I love this song❤RIP Mr. Booker❤
Brooker.
Brooker.
*RIP Mr. Brooker ❤️
I love this song so much it brings back great memories.
Hard to think he’s gone…
Il brano più emozionante di sempre!!! Grazie di cuore ai Mitici Procol Harum!!!
THE ORGAN PLAYER IS AWESOME!!!🥀Everyone was!
Agree! Brilliant organist. Without his organ music the song would be less powerful. Glad he got compensated for his contribution.❤❤
RIP Gary.
Pois me lembro bem dela.
It was 14 years before I was born, and here I am listening to this beautiful song 56 years after its release

It will never make sense. That's the magic and the mystery of it. ♡

Deep Memories loss in the sea of LO❤️e 💃🏽(song is masterpiece ) #1 ❤️💃🏽 😢RIP🙏🏽
Brilliant...I was there.......
That organ riff is such a melancholy throwback…. It’s unmistakable isn’t it?
The garbage “music” today has no such impression.
absolutely
the best Era of music is late 60s , 70s and early 80s
this song brings so much memories to me in a sorrow way...
The organist makes this song. Without Fishers masterful playing I don't believe this song would be so enduring.
@@mandykiser524
It speaks to me of loss now. So different from what it brought me at 22 in '67.😢
@@elenalatici9568
I am sorry for your loss.
I can understand your pain.
Stay positive as best as you can.
God is with you and He learns your suffering 🙏 ❤
This is the definitive version . Great stuff
It's interesting to discover an other interpretation of this well known song.
As I know very well the original on organ, the improvisation is nice to listen.
🎹
R.I.P., Gary

❤❤❤maravilhoso. Música sensacional. Adoro.
Truly a great rendition and uniquely a double bass in more ways than one. Some nice variations from Matthew too. Gary on great form and lets hear it too for Graham Broad - on the drum stool all night while other musicians came & went.
Bravo Brooker RIP e continua a... cantare
Danke für den Song ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Esos pianos suenan perfectos ...
..Whiter Shade of Pale..czy zauważyłaś-eś wokół jakiego wersu tańczy swoje fantango..uległaś-eś pozorom sinej, śmiertelnej bladości gdy śpiewa o jej bielszym-Życia odcieniu.."..i choć oczy miałem otwarte równie dobrze mogły być zamknięte" - " and although my eyes were open, they might have as well been closed"..melodia w tekście poezji z głosem i instrumentacją dźwięków.
..tak, poezja, której kluczem jest wers "there is no reason and the truth is plane to see" czyli "nie ma powodu a prawda jest widoczna jak na dłoni - a więc "gdy prawda jest odsłonięta-obnażona..." - dopowiedz sobie sam tańcząc myślą wyobraźni z czynem własne fantango..i masz Człeka sposób na sposoby upadłych aniołów..tak, poezja ale i melodia, głos, instrumentacja dźwięków, która przenosi w inne czasy, miejsca..znane i przypominane..perełka połączenia melodii, tekstu, głosu-dźwięków-sposobu przekazu.
