22nd February 2022 ..Sad news today that Gary Brooker lost his fight against the dreaded Cancer, aged 76 yrs, passing away peacefully. A great talented and well-loved Artist who will be sadly missed by his family, and fans, and all who knew him.R.I.P. Gary Brooker.
He sadly passed away in 2022, but at least he was doing what he loved up to the end and the quality of his voice hadn’t deteriorated at all, if anything it got better with age which is rare. RIP
I guess, God could not wait any longer to have this wonderful man finally by his side. We love you, Mr. Brooker
For sure... Same to newborn; children passed away & who believe in Him. 🙂
No one will ever sing this song with so much heart and talent as Gary Brooker, God Bless His Soul.
Gary Brooker is the best singer of the world. In my opinion.
"A Whiter Shade of Pale", the best song ever written ❤️
I saw Him and Procol Harum in London Palladium in 1975, almost half a century ago, and still remember that voice. Tkank you, Gary the Great. RIP
1975, it was a great time to be a young adult. In 1975, I was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps on Okinawa. Love to be 20 years old again. We miss ya Gary.
Gary you were amazing, what a class act.gsry passed away Frb.2022,you will be missed,by millions of your. Fans .RIP!
Beautiful voice. Rest in Peace Gary 😇
He definitely deserved all of that applause, all that crowd dam sure knew that, this man is a legend to come back and sing a song that he recorded and sang 50 years ago and still sounded like the day he sang it back then, he is amazing, one of the best songs ever recorded and it will be loved for many more years to come.
Oh my Lord. 73 years old and STILL sounds incredible. A once in a generation artist.
Anthem to the WHITE GODDESS...Sophia!
He passed away over a year ago from cancer not sure if it was lung or prostate. he doesnt look really good in this video
❤
@@michaelmckinney5541 He looked alright.
Absolutely!
His voice never failed him right up to the end. ...Blessed men go to Blessed places. ..Lay yourself down neath the strength of music and RIP Brother Gary.
RIP Gary Brooker and thanks for leaving us with this masterpiece. One of the finest songs ever written!
You had to be old enough when this song was first released in 1967 to fully appreciate its soaring beauty. As a very lucky teenager I loved it then and over the years since it's only gotten more beautiful and moving. It's a touchstone for us, a special treasure we're so glad to call our own.
RIP SIR BROOKER.....ONLY YOU CAN SING THIS MASTER PIECE
There are no musicians today who can hold a candle to this man.
Few.
Legend
Peter Gabriel
maybe Tom Jones
He is a legendary rock and roller, I love what he has done 😊
Thank you for that video! Whiter Shade of Pale was my husbands favorite song and I found this video for him before he passed last week and it made him happy.
Thanks for sharing your story. You will alway be a loving wife. God’s peace.
Great. This song it is very beautiful
sorry to hear
May he be in a good place.
Mary: he was lucky to have had a wife that would seek out something like this.
My sympathies to you & your family.
what do you need more. Gary Brooker and Robin Thrower. Funny and full of muscianship. Mr. Brooker is 73 years young here.
Truly one of the most underrated male vocalist of the last 50 years. I love this man!
Yup, he is definitely as good as Joe Cocker - and Joe Cocker is of course great. However, everybody knows Joe Cocker. But hardly anyone knows the name of the guy who belongs to the group with the strange name and who sings that wonderful song whose text nobody really understands, but still loves 🙃
@@sabineb.5616 ummm what does joe cocker have to do with this video?
@@sabineb.5616 0
@@jacobwallace6967 , Joe Cocker has covered "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" with great success, and his voice and vocal style is somewhat similar to Gary Brooker's style.
私はジョーコッカーは知らない。アルバムは持ってないし、ゲイリーブルッカーなら知っています。プロコル・ハルムの公式のアルバムは、13枚ですが、全部持っています。それだけの事です。
I was a young girl when I first heard this song. Procol Harum was part of the first British Invasion, in the 60's, which I just adored. I still find it wonderful and somehow profound.
Rest in Peace Gary Brooker, just as incredible as the first time I heard it !
One of the greatest songs ever recorded. Gary Brooker is amazing.
Lennon said that
Mogę Go słuchać cały czas.
Amazing and beautiful piece of music...legendary the first recording of it in the 60's...
Gary Brooker, thanks you !!!! You are the best!!!
Magnifica!! Lacrime e memorie...RIP Gary!!! Grazie x sempre Procol Harum!!! Enzo57Italy
Ci manca lui ancora, Enzo. Una perdita triste.
Just watched the live in Denmark video from 2006, was stunned, and wanted to see if he could still belt it out more recently. Appears he can. Amazing.
Still one of the best, 73 years old here and still got it
What a great singer he is!
He sings in the same key that he recorded this song in 1967...
Beautiful voice...The great Gary Brooker!
That is the remarkable thing to me. I'm a big Bob Seger fan, but Bob, who had one of the most soulful rock voices ever, lost the ability to sing in the same key and hit the same notes as he used to, in his early sixties. I'm sure being a lifelong smoker didn't help. Gary's voice here at 73 is simply amazing.
Rest in Peace Gary Brooker!! Thank YOU for your awesome music!! It was my honor to grow up listening to Procol Harum!! Thank YOU sir!! 🙏🙏🙏✌☮☮☮
RIP to a true legend. I'm so glad I got to see Gary Brooker and Procol Harum with Dad twice in Westbury. He not only had the pipes and amazing piano down. But the dry wit and charm that made him truly magical. Legends Never Die! 💜✨⭐😥🙏
Gary Brooker's voice is simply astonishing.
Absolutely Awesome, for 60 Years I have heard this song in all it's re-enactments, and Gary has stayed true to every one of them.
God Bless You Gary, and God Bless Procol Harum for giving us such a classic Song.
I love this and it is in my top 5 songs of all time. Did I mention I am 65 and have heard Millions of songs in my life.
I bow to your awesomeness.
Da brividi l'accenno a When A Man Loves A Woman!E poi,Whiter Shade Of Pale è una delle canzoni più belle della storia della musica! Grandissimo Gary Brooker!
RIP Mr. Gary Brooker. 2/19/2022 , the best song ever composed, you did a beautiful job, and your voice will never be duplicated again thanks for the 50 years
What a voice STILL.....one of very few singers from 60’s that can still hit notes like they were still in their prime!
RIP Gary, hell of a voice even into your 70's
Wow, what a voice. Especially for a man his age. Just like fine wine.
Stunningly beautiful voice. Just amazing.
o man ist der noch jung, ich hörte ihn schon vor Jahren.noch viele jahre Ihm

It's from the journey of life. No shortcuts.

Please let me know this song title. I think this is not "whiter shade of pale".
@@kageyama_yuka "When a man loves a woman" , (hit by Percy Sledge, amongst others) followed by "No woman no cry" by Bob Marley then "A whiter shade of pale" by Procol Harum

Whiter Shade of Pale is definitely one of the best songs ever written by a man for all time ❤️
Danke
This song is an all time classic, and to be the song it has been through the decades, it has had performances like this one to showcase the brilliance and intricate arrangement of both music and vocals.
Gary Brooker was a genius.
Total respect to a band that has stood the test of time.
I salute you.

His voice is still great! A Whiter Shade of Pale will always touch my heart! A masterpiece! 🎵❤
Yes it was. I was 13 yrs old back in 1968, when A Whiter Shade of Pale was a hit, it gave me chill bumps then and still does at 66 yrs old. We miss you Gary.
As a musician, I play for many years, and the last song played (still) A wither shade of pale... 🙂
@@RenzoColameoIrlanda it's a great song. You have great taste in music. Stay safe.
@@usmc-veteran7316 I love that song so much! Thank you. Stay safe also. Thank you for your service. God bless you.
@@camilleciampa7410 thank you, it was an honor to serve our great Nation. I served right after the Vietnam War was over 1973-1977. A time when most Americans did not approve of the military, because of the Vietnam War. But I was still proud to have served. Semper Fidelis from an old Marine Sergeant.
Takes me back to high school dances. This was popular then. Procul Harem was always one of my favorites from that era. Gary's voice only got better with age. So rich and soulful.
Gary mentions 3 of my top 10 favorite songs of all time in this video. Humbling brilliance.
Watch the live version in Denmark in 2006....best performance of this song ever including an orchestra and choir....it is sublime!
Has to be one of the most brilliant voices of all time. Heart piercing soul wrenching, seeps into your DNA. Just so brilliant. RIP and thank you for sharing your gifts. You are forever in my heart ❤️
This song will haunt my memory forever. It has since the first time I heard it as a youth back in '67. This man knows how to use his gifted voice, unlike so many others.
Saw him twice at the Filmore East. One of my favorite groups. So glad I grew up in the best musical era EVER!
I (heart) Zwolle and Nederland! Wish I could have attended this concert. Damn this pandemic.
Still singing that well at 73ish years old. Dude has chops!!
His brethren Jon Anderson still kicks ass as well.
one of those who lived to sing, and not sing to live... RIP
A song for all eternity! Procol Harum forever

Fantastic, really enjoyed that! Gary's voice is still brilliant and Whiter shade of pale is one of my all time favourite songs.
Beautiful, I worried I would never hear this live again. Thank you Gary!
So moving, I can only weep as my soul feasts. God bless you Gary Brooker.

Did they play at woodstock?
Супермузыка 👍👍👍 А Gary ничего не потерял с возрастом, в 73 звучал круче, чем раньше !!! 👍👍👍 Светлая память ...
Amazing song. Amazing vocal. How can a voice bring to tears to the eyes like this?
...because it authentically emanates from his soul to ours.
Certainly does to mine.
Every time
Every time
One of a very few songs that always gives me chills.
That's incredible he's still hitting the notes just right. I think an older, wisened voice suits the song better actually
His voice is still so amazing!

This is incredible. The most uplifting song forever . PROCOL HARUM SHINES
How sad my generation is passing! You will be singing in heaven. Rest in peace Gary.
Angles are blessed to have you singing with them now. Rest in peace, Gary.
Brooker, as great a performance as the first time I heard this song on the radio in '67 when I was 11 years old! Loved the song ever since. I lived in the inner city across the street from a small music store. I would always go in there and look at records and hear the latest hits he had playing in the store. Got turned on to some great music back then at such a young age.
I was 4 years old! My brother and sisters were 11, 13, and 14!
I was also 11! Have always LOVED this song. A year ago the original video of it showed up in my RUclips feed. I started watching and listening to more of PH and became addicted to Gary, his voice and piano playing! He's also quite handsome. 😍🎶🎹🎤
Outstanding ! thank you for shared
So sad to hear of his death today. Thanks for the music, Gary!
Found this video a week after you passed. Thank you Gary Brooker for 50+ years of simply amazing music. Rest in Peace Good Sir
One of the greatest singers all times
I was perhaps "9 years old" !!, and I went to the Music business in Buenos Aires, and wanted to buy a new album,......
---I was looking at the covers and photos of the musicians, trying to choose an album to buy ...----
I found "Procol Harum" on the rafts, and it caught my attention, and I bought it, .... well, no idea what It was that group, but ... when I went home and put the album on, I was amazed at how beautiful that song "Whiter Shade of Pale" was, and I listened to it a thousand times ... I thought I had bought and discovered one of the more beautiful songs that I had never heard, until those days. Today is already a classic of great beauty!. ---I can't forget the surprise when I heard it.--- Greetings & Peace !
What an awesome voice!!!! One of the greatest singers of all time!!!
Amazing to this day , thank you great memories
My late husband was in the Airforce in the early seventys and this became our slow dance song after we met . We were married for 22 years and this was always our song and I love it till this day!
Pure MAGIC.
One of very few songs and melodies stir the emotions of the inner man of past young romances that were not to be like this endless song. We need to hear all 4 verses performed as originally written!!
Gary Brooker what a voice, what a classic, what It just for ever....
Fantastic, holy cow, after all these years, 5 decades, unreal...
Amazing voice, amazing spirit; the closest thing one can do to live forever.
what a song ..this is a song you dance to with some one you love Thank you Gary Brooker and band
Gary Brooker just gets better and better! I love his little dissertation on descending chord songs leading into Whiter Shade. It definitely shows his classical training and his understanding of musical theory and chord structure. Love it! He's a genius and always has been. My wife and I danced to this song at our wedding (I'm a keyboard player).
...and an old one!
What was that song he started playing when the guitar was matching his piano. The descending chord one?
Great comment! Your a true musician, gentlemen, etc.
My 9 year old son loves this song. Hexwants to learn to play the piano for some reason.
Like Queen's Life Is Real
