I remember reading the comic where Shang Chi was mentioned with Quick Kick. Years later having both in 6 inch form is awesome.

Great review! I made my own Quick Kick a couple of years ago using the Chang Zhi as my base. The paint apps were easy, but I struggled with the red sash. Fortunately, someone on Etsy eventually made one, so a little paint and "Bam", there is was. I am torn over whether to pick up this guy or not. I love having these kinds of problems, though.

Good review. Overall, he's acceptable. The throwing star effect from Mezco Snake Eyes is better than the one with this figure. I've been using the MCU version of Shang-Chi as a trainer for my Joes along with Sgt. Slaughter. I think Hasbro needs an updated version of Shang-Chi for Marvel Legends. The current one is dated.

The Nunchaku and Swords have a tiger head on the ends of the handles not a snake head.
I remember quick kick vs storm shadow in the cartoon.... quick kick won.

For all the cartoon quick kick haters. back in the 80s quick kick was the only Asian male gi joe (good guy) in the cartoon. They made the other one a bad guy, storm shadow. If it wasn’t for Larry Hama not wanting storm shadow to be a bad guy, storm shadow would have remained a villain in the comics as well, as his toy was designed to be a villain. So actually cartoon quick kick was pretty influential even though he had some of the stereotypical Asian tropes (martial artist) themes he still served as positive representation for Asian kids who watched gi joe. And also well liked by non Asian kids too. Just something to think about.
Yes...and people still have a right not to like him. You also had Tunnel Rat with no "asian stereotypes".
I've never understood the Quick Kick dislike but if people don't like him that's their choice.
@@dal5x5 didn’t say people can’t hate him at all just offering a different perspective. and comparing tunnel rat to quick kick is downplaying the fact quick kick was a more prominent character in several episodes through out season 1 while tunnel rat was only shown in the movie which basically served as the conclusion to the Sunbow series. Also tunnel rat was created with the likeness of larry Hama and got his input for its creation well after quick kick was introduced which explains the no “Asian stereotypes”. Quick kick’s character design definitely had its flaws but in the cartoon he was depicted as someone respected among his peers, formidable in combat, and even had a love interest. His camaraderie with bazooka and alpine is still very memorable to many fans. It was pretty nice given he was one of very few Asian male (good guy) that had a prominent role in a highly popular cartoon during those times.

As a kid, I could suspend a lot of disbelief. It didn't bother me that GI Joe and Cobra had lasers, or robots, or Fatal Fluffies, but I could never buy Quick Kick going into battle with bare feet. That was as far fetched as Cobra La. Lol! Needless to say, I didn't like him much as a kid. Oddly though, I've actually grown to like him the older I've got. Not sure why, other than maybe his sacrifice in the comics. Anyways, I'm really excited to get him. Not sure when that will be, since Hasbro shipped him through DHL, but at least he's on his way.
I heard somewhere that the ducklips head of Quick Kick is for when he is eating his fudgy bar. Kinda a boring character but I enjoyed the vid. Great job!!

Quick kick was never my favorite joe ,the first time I saw him he was in Antarctica bare chested and bare foot.....that was so unbelievable and hard to accept even as a child. So wish they gave us an updated version and kept this design for the retro classified. Super easy pass for now and I will buy it when it's on sale for a lot less. Great review video 👍
I got mines the other day and it’s a really nice and good figure I just wish this particular iteration had been done on retro card and they gave us a more classified version one with some combat boots on and a metallic style Tee shirt some thing like what captain America wears with an emblem on it, I may get an extra one and mod it too my specifications .i just don’t see this being practical running around dressed like this bare feet and no shirt
I love everything you had to say. They’re doing Retro cards now, put this one on there and give us one that makes me think he can actually go into combat.
@@Apunkwithtoys yeah I can’t see a guy running around in snow with out some protection on your feet it’s no wonder they killed him off in the comic’s besides having too many joes.
I remember him from the cartoon and he was cool, but I always thought it was silly he always ran around without shoes.

Which I think I'm more sold on the Shang-Chi than Quick Kick.
Quick Kick was my favourite G1 Joe figure (only one whose crotch I broke because I made him 'kick' all the time). He should never have been able to beat Storm Shadow in the movie - not the way he did. I think that was writers who didn't get the comic lore. Shipwreck was also one of my favourite G1 figures!

Why do you keep saying that they’re going away from the window package? These are the newer packaging. Did I miss something?
They are going away from this style of window packaging to a more uniformed boring one. Still windowed, but doesn’t look as sharp as these.
He’s one hand style away from being able to play rock, paper scissors.
Warped weapons! Welcome back to plastic packaging! Wasn’t as bad with the plastic free ….when they vacuum seal the plastic tray it bends the weapons and then they sit there like that for months…..personally I prefer the plastic free packaging for multiple reasons that being one of them
The duck lip face has all kinds of paint mess ups. 😂 not a favorite character of mine. My Shang Chi will work just fine. 😂
I wouldn't be into this character for any reason anyway, but I think both of his face sculpts are TERRIBLE 🙄
Quick Kick and his stupid obnoxious "Hollywood actor impersonations" in the cartoon always irritate me lol. I like your video, DISLIKE the character. His fudgy bar looks EXACTLY like my phone's candy bar emoji. 🍫

The cartoons ruined Quick Kick for me. He's kind of a generic boring martial artist on his own, but his personality was so annoying and cringe. With the Classified line so large now, Quick Kick will be an easy pass for me.

Ninjas aren't even real so Quick Kick would destroy stormshadow and snake eyes who are chumps wearing robes that are roleplaying.
Quick Kick was essentially a MMA star and was UFC’s St Pierre’s biggest inspiration.
