In the beginning their name was Nanowar as a Manowar parody (in Italian Nano means dwarf). After the italian metal band Rhapsody changed their name into Rhapsody of Fire, Nanowar decided to do parody them too and they became Nanowar of steel

Nanowar was always about parodies, with their music, their texts and everything else. They take a Emerald sword from Rhapsody and instead of Emerald sing about Emmental, other cheese and random italian words, making fun of rhapsodys italian accent. They sing about some german fish fingers commercial and parodize sabaton. It might feel cheap, pointless and silly sometimes. But it is not meaningless, there is a message. Epic metal praises trueness, sacrifice, glorifies fight (against the evil), but sometimes also the evil itself. Praising high ideals can be a good thing, lighting people their way to trueness. Nanowar is there to remind us that we are still human, that life is not only about following ideals and doing the right, but also about just having fun, questioning norms and conventions. And it helps a lot that as you noticed they became much much better with the quality of their musical arrangement, execution and recording. If not for their message they are still highly enjoyable for their music.
