An Italian band playing reggaeton mixed with metal joking about black metal (Norwegian), singing in English, Spanish and a little Norwegian .... Fantastic video and reaction, I recommend Valhalleluya for a next video, greetings from Italy!
YESSSS THIS SONG IS AMAZING! Now it’s time to flex my Reggaeton knowledge. The drum beat you reference many times during the song (and mention that it’s the same drum beat used in South Africa for some local music) is THE Reggaeton beat. Not “one of many” or “commonly used”, it’s THE beat used in pretty much ALL of Reggaeton. You mention at one point that it’s kind of bouncy, and that’s by design, since Reggaeton is a music genre made to dance, so the beat is made with that in mind. Besides the beat, most of the lyrics are a full-on fusion of Black Metal subject matter and Reggaeton subject matter. Reggaeton usually has lyrics that talk about dancing, the beach, having a good time, drinking, sex, basically a party lifestyle. Black Metal lyrics are usually about blasphemy, Satan, the Church and its shortcomings, basically an anti-Catholic lifestyle. They blend both genres’ themes really well in the lyrics, like in these examples: - Profanar la tumba al ritmo de la rumba (Desecrate the tomb to the rhythm of the Rumba) blends desecrating graves (Black Metal) with dancing (Reggaeton) to the Rumba (a Latin genre) - Satanás me sube la temperatura (Satan raises my temperature) blends Satan (Black Metal) with getting hot/excited (Reggaeton) - Vamos a bailar con “Det Som Engang Var” (Let’s dance to “Det Som Engang Var”) is pretty easy: dancing (Reggaeton) to a Burzum (Black Metal band) song. It’s honestly an insanely well-written song for what it was trying to be: a Black Metal AND Reggaeton parody at the same time. And for those rare fans of both Black Metal and Reggaeton (like me), it’s an amazing song to listen to regularly and laugh along with it.

how cool is that? my first concert was also Cranberries, back then in Berlin Columbiahalle (Germany). Of course that gives a big like! 👍 Grüße aus Deutschland 👋
I have noticed that artists that don't take themselves too seriously, like Weird Al or even Babymetal, work in large part because their musical foundation is solid. And now you can add Nanowar of Steel to that list. I really enjooyed this. I often don't listen to new artist reactions; I love music, it feeds my soul, but life is super busy right now, and if there is a new band I want to give them the attention they deserve but that's not in the cards right now. But I have time for these guys
The parts in spanish are so fun too. Profanar al tumba, al ritmo de la rumba... Gigatron band is a metal band that does parodies, pretty famous in Spain since some years ago. No surprise this guy is here really xD Vallhaleluja is where you need to go next.
Finally!!! The next one has to be Valhalleluja!!!! I said in the comments before that the language was going to be an issue. Let´s see if I fell like translating the Spanish bits (Native Spanish speaker here, from Cuba nonetheless, which it´s where the vocalist drew the inspiration, traveling the country as a backpacker as said in an interview).
Oh man, their play on the metal genre is superb. Barby, Milf Princess of Twilight as a perfect example of parody on italian power metal. Or Valhalleluja. Or basically every other song from them.
The funniest part for me, is the sampled part under the "Shaggy"-rap part and in the middle section before the solo It says "Dr.Scotti" ... and it's taken from a TV-ad made from one of the most famous TV-Host here in Italy, named "Gerry Scotti", who advertised a brand of rice by the same name (no relation, just homonymy). Cranks me every f***ing time 😂
Dude, i found your reactions for eskimo callboy and started browsing through your videos. I really enjoy how much you appreciate the talent of the musicians and i love your positivity and the fun you feel watching those videos. Thank you for your contend and please keep it on that level of entertainment. Best regards from germany.
I'm a big Nanowar of Steel's fan. The COVID impeded me from seeing them at the "fosa de frikis" festival in Madrid this year. It's a pity that you can´t understand the spanish lyrics. Here is the translation of the spanish parts: Viking heart from Santo Domingo The burned church, the piña colada Let's dance with "Det som engang var" Cuban warrior, pagan dancer Sipping mojito at the sacrifice Let's dance with Hellhammer and Varg Desecrate the grave, to the rhythm of the rumba With Fenriz and Darkthrone, Norwegian Reggaetón Desecrate the grave, to the rhythm of the rumba With Fenriz and Darkthrone, Norwegian Reggaetón This crazy life, to look at the seal Grilling a salmon, Norwegian Reggaeton .... I was so skeptical of this but I was here to support Chase and ended up just laughing a bunch and loving the song. It helps to be not quite fluent in Spanish as well. Such a great surprise. Thanks to the person that recommended this and for the reaction. It turned a terrible day into something much closer to a damn good day. My car was hit in the parking lot of my work and the dude refuses to give me his insurance info and keeps trying to pay me off/offer to buy my vehicle for a low price he claims is fair.... And this still made me smile when that seemed like the most unlikely thing tonight.

I love humor, I love Metal and I love Reggaeton. so this song became instantly my favorite Nanowar of Steel song, when I first heard it. but there are many more. 😄 and it's so cool that the artists are starting to find you and to appreciate what you're doing. any messages from Floor or Tuomas yet? 😁

Ohh, the amount of references NANOWAR (OF FRIGGIN' STEEL!) cram into this one is... respectable. :) No, really, all the cold dark Black Metal lore plus the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood"?.. Plus "Zombie", really?.. And the Spanish lyrics are good enough to translate and proliferate them to the clueless English speaking world! "Profanar la tumba al ritmo de la rumba" (Desecrate the grave to the rhythm of a rumba) - are you serious? :D "Mata al enemigo, pero despacito" (Kill yer enemy, but slowly) - I died right there! 8D This band is out of this world [or rather all over it... they would love it... still searching for Uranus...] Summa summarum - BIG thumbs up! P. S.: Just discovered - "where salmons dare", the shout out to IRON MAIDEN of all Saints (!), deserves an extra shot (of whiskey) from me!

Had to double-check. They have the Spanish lyrics translated in the English captions. On the one hand, half of it is album or band references. On the other hand, you get gems like "looking at a seal."
Maybe for better understanding the lyrics you shall read the book "lords of chaos". Aldo you can watch the film or maybe also the dvd "untill the light takes us" for better understanding Black Metal!😉
There are many references to the Norwegian Black Metal scene in the lyrics, such as the burning of the Fantoft church, Fenriz (Drummer of Darkthrone), Det som engang var and Hvis lyset tar oss both are albums by the infamous Burzum! Once the epidemic is finally over, i recommend you to come to PR. You're welcome here.
Don't worry.
I love all of the references to the early 90's Norwegian Black Metal scene in the lyrics. LOL
Next best song is probably "Valhallelujah (Ft Angus McFife of Gloryhammer)". hahaha
If you watch it with the captions on, they have the lyrics translated into english.
I laughed at the Zombie part of the song, and even harder seeing the look on your face when you heard it. Priceless!!!
This whole song was crazy!!!
"This is the Despacito we needed". Nothing else to add.
Profanar la tumba al ritmo de la rumba.
I'm dying here. :D
This was our „Wacken Party Song“ in 2019 😄
Sehr geile Auswahl 🤣🤘🍻🍻🍻Wackööön !!!
Ours as well!
I legitimately am addicted to this song for like the past week now 🤣 I love it!
I just loved how you analyzed the details of this song. Nanowar are so good on so many levels, I really like when somebody notices and appreciates all this.
There's a lot of bums in this! LMAO! Amd the expression when the xylophone comes in! Priceless!
3 years later and I still come back to this video from time to time to enjoy the joy in your reaction.
I am not sure what I like more... The fact that This even exists or your face watching it, Chase, never, ever change 👍
I don't know any other way 🙋🏼♂️
"This is the Despacito we needed", so true!
yuo're sooo natural in your reaction! I love it man! waiting for more! ;)
LOL I love the video the music and the lyrics but I was laughing and crying my makeup off lol
Chase be like; 'How many genres are there in this?', Me an intellectual; "Yes"
😂👌
You should whatch "And then i noticed that she was a Gargoyle".. TOP!!!
I didn't believe I would see this on your channel. This one sparks joy.
Never say never.
YES! I knew you would have a blast with them. That's what we Italians are: when we LOVE something (such as Nanowar loves metal) we can't help but make fun of it.
To answer to your question about genres mixing, I'll copy here a recent facebook status of the band's sound engineer, (roughly translated):
"Everybody's in vacation, and I'm here mixing. And as if that weren't enough, Nanowar invented new ways to fit together genres that are not physically compatible".
So I guess we're going to have fun a ride.
I've never clicked so fast. You'll love it, they are brilliant and very very funny🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh my, I love you so much while enjoying this song. You can´t fake your reactions and I adore that.
Thank you, thank you for the good moment, yesterday was a damn bad day. Everything is better now.
Let's dance, come to Mexico and we'll improve those moves you already have 🖤🤘🏻💃🏻🕺🏻
Chase I love your reactions so much because of the pure joy on your face. That smile is so uplifting. Found you from "The Sound of My Father" by Marko and have binged watched your videos this weekend. Keep up the good work!
Love the vibe of that song.... fun as HELL! Makes me wanna Dance n Jump all of the place lol....(Chase you make me 😂). Priceless reaction.
Haha, awsome as always.
VALHALLELUJA !!
Oh my...you reaction...🤣🤣🤣
Can you imagine if Tuomas was actually in this 🤣 I don't think I would be able to handle it 😛.
I stumbled across this a few months ago! I like it. It is funny and well made.
Nice one again Chase! Good job👍
Honestly i didn't see such resemblance but still...
Tuomas doing reggaeton: that would be too much for me also!🤣🤣🤣
In my humble opinion that band is the definition of "boys will be boys".
I've since now just saw your's Nightwish videos.....ok, i'm having a stroke of how much i'm laughing on this hahahahahahahahahahaha you're trying to be serious.....and they are clearlly not being serious hahaha
Best moment: Varg Vikernes on fire like the Farfolt Church that he ignited in 1992
Oh MY God!!! Yes the song is funny, and strangely good. But it's you that made me laugh out loud many times.... So thank you!!!
how cool is that? my first concert was also Cranberries, back then in Berlin Columbiahalle (Germany). Of course that gives a big like! 👍
Grüße aus Deutschland 👋
Last year summer , at Vagos Metal Fest in Portugal , every couple was dancing to this ahah , both sober and drunk couples ahah
No surprise this guy is here really xD
Vallhaleluja is where you need to go next.
Damn.. i´m rewatching this and i wanna give it more likes!
I appreciate you!!!
That was fun, if you translation just ask. I enjoy your videos man. Greetings from El Salvador
Closed captions in the vid have a full translation 😄
"It's good for my soul" - that's the key! :)
"He's gonna get sunburned" Most British reaction :D
11:09 gives a whole new meaning to "Hitting those skins" LOL
I like someone truly analyzing this song. And who better than our Chase? Insightful, showing the technical expertise, but never monotonous.
Oh man, their play on the metal genre is superb. Barby, Milf Princess of Twilight as a perfect example of parody on italian power metal. Or Valhalleluja. Or basically every other song from them.
The funniest part for me, is the sampled part under the "Shaggy"-rap part and in the middle section before the solo
It says "Dr.Scotti" ... and it's taken from a TV-ad made from one of the most famous TV-Host here in Italy, named "Gerry Scotti", who advertised a brand of rice by the same name (no relation, just homonymy).
Wow, just thank you man. Appreciate it Christoph. 🇩🇪🙏
The melody after the Fantoft Church is from Written in the Stars song! :D
Wow! Subscribed to your channel for Nightwish reactions and didn't even think you'll do Nanowar ))) I'd like to subscribe once more.
I'm a big Nanowar of Steel's fan. The COVID impeded me from seeing them at the "fosa de frikis" festival in Madrid this year.
It's a pity that you can´t understand the spanish lyrics.
Here is the translation of the spanish parts:
Viking heart from Santo Domingo
The burned church, the piña colada
Let's dance with "Det som engang var"
Cuban warrior, pagan dancer
Sipping mojito at the sacrifice
Let's dance with Hellhammer and Varg
Desecrate the grave, to the rhythm of the rumba
With Fenriz and Darkthrone, Norwegian Reggaetón
Desecrate the grave, to the rhythm of the rumba
With Fenriz and Darkthrone, Norwegian Reggaetón
This crazy life, to look at the seal
Grilling a salmon, Norwegian Reggaeton
....
Latin Nordic, how Luciferian
Kill the enemy, but slowly
Let's dance on the beach of evil
Move your waist, with my armor
Satan raises my temperature
Lets dance in evil ritual
Desecrate the grave, to the rhythm of the rumba
With Fenriz and Darkthrone, Norwegian Reggaetón
This crazy life, to look at the seal
Grilling a salmon, Norwegian Reggaeton
I was so skeptical of this but I was here to support Chase and ended up just laughing a bunch and loving the song. It helps to be not quite fluent in Spanish as well. Such a great surprise. Thanks to the person that recommended this and for the reaction. It turned a terrible day into something much closer to a damn good day.
My car was hit in the parking lot of my work and the dude refuses to give me his insurance info and keeps trying to pay me off/offer to buy my vehicle for a low price he claims is fair.... And this still made me smile when that seemed like the most unlikely thing tonight.
I'm with you Chase, this song is technical yet fun and funny. Now I have the damn song stuck in my head though. :P
thank you so much for this reaction. I love humor, I love Metal and I love Reggaeton. so this song became instantly my favorite Nanowar of Steel song, when I first heard it. but there are many more. 😄
and it's so cool that the artists are starting to find you and to appreciate what you're doing. any messages from Floor or Tuomas yet? 😁
You already deserved that thumb up just for doing Nanowar! 😂 I immediately had a grin on my face. 😂
Found this channel because of the song, usually you find amazing songs because of channels keep it up boet.
Killing me 😂😂😂
Thanks for this one, I for sure would've never listened to them otherwise 😁 Loving it ❤️
That was an adventure. Loved it. I love your dry humor so much. "He...is gonna get sunburn." Killed me.
The spanish part:
Viking heart of Santo Domingo, the burned church, the piña colada.
Let's dance with Det som engang var
Cuban warrior, pagan dancer, drinking mojito at the sacrifice
let's dance with hellhammer and varg
Desecrate the grave to the rhythm of the rumba, with Fenriz and Darkthrone
norwegian reggaeton
This crazy life, to watch the seal, roasting a salmon
norwegian reggaeton
Latin Nordic, how Luciferian, kill the enemy but slowly
Let's dance on the beach of evil
Move your hip with my armor, Satan raises my temperature
let's dance in evil ritual
jajajajaja when my "regaetoner" friend heard it she fell in love.
oh and for those that are wondering "Det som engang var" is Norwegian for "what once was" and Varg is a wolf in norse (which is a bit more obvious).
Such a fun song and entertaining video. Watchign your reaction was additional fun. The song itself was enjoyable and your analysis was as informative as we have come to expect. Thanks!
I loved this.
"But there's a lot of things I don't understand about this, and that's OK."
"There's a lot of bums in this."
"He's gonna get sunburn."
The Spanish lyrics of the song kill me each time, hahaha! And now, I'm gonna have the song stuck in my head for days. Again.
Thats amazing, you got a burning passion, have a like and a sub!
Rock on
Thank you so much
Tell me you're a ginger without telling me you're a ginger - "He's gonna get sunburned...." LOL
Just because they're a parody band doesn't mean they cannot produce good music ^_-
Anyway, my recommendation for the next video is "Valhallelujah"
Ohh, the amount of references NANOWAR (OF FRIGGIN' STEEL!) cram into this one is... respectable. :)
No, really, all the cold dark Black Metal lore plus the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood"?.. 8D This band is out of this world [or rather all over it... they would love it... still searching for Uranus...]
Summa summarum - BIG thumbs up!
P. S.: Just discovered - "where salmons dare", the shout out to IRON MAIDEN of all Saints (!), deserves an extra shot (of whiskey) from me!
I need more of Nanowar of steel!
I love that no matter what happens in the videos you give really great technical commentary. I've watched so many new bands because of your channel.
This reaction is absolutely priceless. I could not stop laughing.
Same here
Wow what a surprise !!! this freaking song is stuck into my brain and i can't stop listening to it. I feel like i'm in Cuba on vacation hahahaha Thank you again Chase, your channel always makes me discover new bands and this one is awesome hahaha so funny !!!
Had to double-check. They have the Spanish lyrics translated in the English captions.
On the one hand, half of it is album or band references. On the other hand, you get gems like "looking at a seal."
So great! And the quotes....XD ah chase i love them
Gotta get those quotes in
WOW! So much fun!
I love the homage to Manowar on the bridges ‘by sunlight we ride…’ 😂
Maybe for better understanding the lyrics you shall read the book "lords of chaos". Aldo you can watch the film or maybe also the dvd "untill the light takes us" for better understanding Black Metal!😉
Yes!
You discovered Nanowar of Steel!
They are dope, even without the fun side of them.
''How mant genres are in this?'' All of them! Nanowar of Steel are so great.
There are many references to the Norwegian Black Metal scene in the lyrics, such as the burning of the Fantoft church, Fenriz (Drummer of Darkthrone), Det som engang var and Hvis lyset tar oss both are albums by the infamous Burzum! Incredible! The picture they burnt was Varg of Burzum! 😉
All in all, very nice analysis and reaction! I like your channel! 😊👍
