This movie has got the same standard as an oscar winner movie. Only if they would have valued this movie by understanding it. I have seen this movie several times before. Every time I see it it gives a different teaching. Right now it meant another classic to me. Thatis what makes it a classic. Thank you for suggesting it again. I knew Irfan Khan personally. I have interacted with him many times he spoke to me before. I can't explain what kind of a person he was. Probably only his family knows that 🙏🌹

If you put aside your preconceived notions of what should be the ending of this film, you might understand that the ending is well treated. For both it goes like Both sajan and ila were lonely, seeking a companionship of eath other although they Didn't know each other. When ila invited saajan but saajan refuses to meet her by saying that now he's an old man. Here he thinks that he should probably live his remaining life like hes living right now; lonely- without hope. But when saajan meets that old man in the train he realises he's not that much old right now. And when that girl having dinner with her family leaves the window open, saajan regains his lost hope and he took back his decision of living in nasik forever. He went to bhutan. Same goes with ila When saajan didnt meet her, she also loses her hope of something new. But when her mother said her that "she was living a abhorrent repetitive life in fear by thinking what will happen of her if her husband dies but when he died nothing actually matters" Ila regains her hope. And after listening to deshpande aunty she realises that everyone is living in fear but she decided not to compromise and on any cost she will experience The new which can end her loneliness. So she sold her jewellery and went to bhutan like saajan did. Both saajan and Ila thinking that perhaps they can meet each other there. The moral is, everyone is lonely but one must has this attitude of life that it doesn't matter if someone comes into our lives or not, he cannot erase the emptiness within ourselves. But There's always a hope for rejecting the monotonous repetitive life. Do not compromise with what you love, at the end of the day our physical, social, psychological limitations value nothing.
If anyone watching this movie truly understand the meaning, importance of being together,many relationship will never get broke. I hope like Ela and sajan everyone mind will get that much maturity.
