I actually like the nice middle ground of this new Cyrax. Old Cyrax said in MK11 that no matter what dont bring him back as a machine, but a lot of cyrax's gameplay comes from those machine elements. So going the iron man armor route was a nice choice.
In MK9 there was a human cyrax that showed his moves can work without being cybernetic.I would have liked to see that in this game before he went cyborg.

While I’m not a fan of the gender swap of one of my fav characters after seeing the trailer I can admit she does look 🔥 to play with. I’ll still forever prefer original cyrax and hopefully they will atleast give out a MK11 skin for her so ppl can feel like they’re playing the character the majority of ppl loved and wanted.
Doubt it since the other (male)Cyrax that is already a kameo is in the game. Also as well for Janet Cage which is not a major issue either for wanting to make her into male JC as well. Tho If I know cringe ass modders once they get Cyrax they'll mod and replace/swap her for kameo Cyrax instead.

Not sure how you’re gonna talk about the past of this new Cyrax when they two completely different people. This Cyrax is literally a brand new MK 1 character. Nothing about this character is Cyrax.
The big problem I have with this new redesign is two parts. Firstly. Them changing Cyrax to be a woman does do thing for the character. This is pretty much the same person as they had in the MKX. So why the change? It adds nothing. The biggest problem is the fact that the Cyber initiative isn’t full cyborgs, but just glorified Iron man armor. A big part of Cyrax’s character is him pushing back and resisting the loss of his soul and humanity by becoming a cyborg. But if it’s just power armor she can just take it off. So it takes away a big part of the lore and changes it.
Part of lore in the old timeline but not in this one, where described by HBTW he was taken/kidnapped into the Lin Kuei and was forced upon to be in the cyber initiative by the grand master and that grand master was not Sub-Zero(nor Bi-Han or Kuai Liang). Here she was much more invoke upon wanting to join the Lin Kuei and follow the principles of doing good and assisting Earthrealm. Here her morale is not of becoming losing her humanity to becoming a cyborg but more in doing the right thing being that Bi-Han is her grandmaster and taking orders. Also I kinda moreso like the idea she's wearing armored suit than a robot, it just felt a bit weird in the old timeline where the Lin Kuei are stealth like ninjas that are assassins and having you have these metalic machines that don't really look all ninja-esque. They're much like having to be robot soilders working for an evil master in those cartoon tv shows or movies.

Story wise, MK1 is supposed to be a break from the original, and bigger liberties have already been taken with other characters like Kauai Liang becoming Scorpion instead of iconic Hanzo, or Mileena actually being a protagonist this time around instead of a test tube baby villain that she originally was. MK1 is supposed to represent a break from the original MK story, so it's expected for all the characters' lore to change. Cyrax's lore has changed as well. Based on hers & Sektor's new character bios, it doesn't seem like the Cyber Initiative is even a thing yet. But I believe it will become a big storyline issue in the next iteration if Sektor ends up becoming the Lin kuei Grandmaster at the end and/or we continue with the Liu Kang created timeline going forward.

Also sectors new bio just seems like a downgrade. It feels like there’s stuff missing. Especially going from, “I want to build weapons and armor but also be a warrior.” To being a ruthless warrior that’s so connected to Bi Han. Also, why is she so connected to Bi Han? What makes them kindred spirits? There’s also no ambition. Like her past version that was the grandson of the grandmaster. This one just makes her Bi Hans lackey. Which is strange considering he’s about to be Havoc’s lackey.

At this point, I see Sektor's and Cyrax's names as monikers/codenames like "007", so anyone can don the mantle. These two characters' genders specifically don't affect the original characters' lore. There's no negative or positive effect in changing their genders, but I don't think it should be viewed as an absolute negative. Also, I agree. I don't think MK1 is a clean break from the original lore, but a lot has changed. I also agree that specific events in the MK lore have to happen. That's why I feel that the Cyber Initiative will happen. It mostly likely won't happen in this game, but I feel bringing in Cyrax and Sektor is to kick off that event. The start of the event is just weaponized, "iron man"-esque armor suits, but things can change and could easily escalate into the original Cyber Initiative.
Thanks to MK1, we get to see a top notch Cyrax vs Sektor fight. Seriously, no MK game has ever showed them fight in a cinematic and natural way. Both went from using artillery weapons to martial arts skills against each other.

I'm of two minds about the genderbend. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either, kind of makes me feel as if the original version of the character is "gone". As for the cybernetic suit thing, honestly I do like that part, but I'm pretty sure it also means we'll never see an alternate skin of the character without the armor since they need it for their attacks.

It’s pretty clear what they were trying to do. Plus they swapped out Bo’s drinking habit for a smoking habit and both are still associated with eating a lot.
I just came up with a theory, since Sektor and Cyrax are females in this timeline what if they are actually from Mileenas universe where she has her own timeline and every character in her timeline is female 😂😂🤣🤣

I wanna see them bring triborg in as a non binary cyber lin kuei member with a mix of cyrax sektor and the grand master. As for the gender swap I like it. She moves more fluid than the other ones which is what a ninja is supposed to do.

And much like with SF6 they're moving on with a new different chapter. What kinda weirds me out is the fact that Lui Kang made this change along with all the other changes he made. Why did "he" feel the need to gender bend, as we see history is slowly repeating itself. I think Cyrax joining the O.I.A.(Special Forces) would be dope instead of her just joining the Shirai Ryu which seems too suspected.
I don't know why would Liu Kang gave Sindel and extra sperm so she can birth 2 daughters, why is Kuai Liang Scorpion and not Hanzo and also not a spectre from the Netherealm. Liu Kang has made a lot of questionable decisions but it all stands out of him not wanting to be like Kronika and have those be benefit with this new life in the new era.

And much like with SF6 they're moving on with a new different chapter. Arcades are past gone and i'm in my 40's who shouldn't be complaining about game that I hold dear not seeing it continue on the MK tradition even if the story is different.
What kinda weirds me out is the fact that Lui Kang made this change along with all the other changes he made. Why did "he" feel the need to gender bend, as we see history is slowly repeating itself. I think Cyrax joining the O.I.A.(Special Forces) would be dope instead of her just joining the Shirai Ryu which seems too suspected.
I don't know why would Liu Kang gave Sindel and extra sperm so she can birth 2 daughters, why is Kuai Liang Scorpion and not Hanzo and also not a spectre from the Netherealm. Liu Kang has made a lot of questionable decisions but it all stands out of him not wanting to be like Kronika and have those be benefit with this new life in the new era.
