I've just bit the bullet and bought this kit so I'm eagerly awaiting your build. I also noticed that there is an Australian / American navy version that have a combination of markings on it.

At 1/48 the F18 is still a sizeable bird, great unboxing and kit discussion. I know what you meat about being present by a range of tempting marking options. My normal response to that is, if in doubt just go for red star an bort number.

Thanks mate. Yeah it is a big beautiful bird. And as for makings....lol....it drives me insane sometimes.

Looks like a beauty. Love the box art. Don't know if you remember, but I recently used your panel line technique on a 1/32 phantom. That plane took first at a show last weekend so I owe you thanks. At the same show, I scored an Italeri spitfire in U.S. markings. Occidental mold, so it looks good.

Yeah i do remember. That is so awesome mate ...congrats....and you did the work so you don't owe me any thanks but i will take it...lol. The Spittie looks like a good kit. You will have to let me know how it goes.

I would go for the Australian version. Wich have you done (assuming you did it lol)? Was it fun to put together? Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Yeah, I need to add this kit to the collection, it'd make a nice compliment to Revell's Super Hornet BUT white metal replacement landing gear from SAC is a must.

Good job mate. Have you by any chance done a review or build of the kinetic 1/48 raaf FA 18?

thanks mate. No i have not got that kit so have not been able to do a review.

Happy to be corrected, but as far as I know, Kinetic only covers the original hornet variants - not the super hornet. I have the F/A-18A+B version with the Aussie markings that was recently released, and it looks nice enough, although it will most likely be a more complex build than this one. Both aircraft have a very similar look, but they are actually very different airframes.

You may be right there mate but i have not really spent much time looking into it. I have a friend who has the Kinetic version so i will see if i can get m y hands on it and do a review. Would be interesting to see the differences between them.

Was not necessarily looking to do an Australian version. I was just interested in the kit itself and had seen another review on it and was wondering if you had done one. 2nd opinion and all lol.
