I have been taking vitamins pretty much my whole life. I started walking 3 miles around a park in 2014 - I was in my 50's. I started with bovine gelatin in my coffee aspen naturals grass fed beef gelatin powder) Any beef gelatin will work. That made a big difference. I started drinking a big shot of cold pressed olive oil nightly. That took away any remaining joint pain. Like the Tin man getting oiled. Not until I heard about NAC and Acetyl L Cysteine did my muscles start building. I noticed I no longer had to push the last 1/4 stretch - at almost 66 I feel like I am back in my 30's. I also started Methylene Blue. It feeds mitochondria. Also I was diagnosed with diverticulosis - could not eat nuts or popcorn. It took a couple years of taking the gelatin along with NAC that healed it completely. I can eat popcorn again. Yeah

NAC is a miracle supplement for my back pain. I was suffering lower back pain for over a decade. I started taking NAC during the pandemic. My back got 50% better 2 or 3 hours after I took one 500mg NAC. Next day I took another 500mg and a couple hours later it got about 80% better. That was a life changing surprise. I thought I would have to live with back pain for the rest of my life. It was probably the anti inflammatory effects of NAC that did it. I just started doing some red light therapy on my back and I now feel 90%. Most times my back feels 100%. I hope this might help someone that is suffering from back pains. I was taking one 500mg twice per day. Now I am just taking one 600mg once per day. Life is good.

I have suffered from severe allergies for 12 years going from doctor to doctor. Test results indicated it was not food allergies but dust, insects etc. The medication was so strong put me into zombie mode. Some people or doctors thinks just the allergies but severe allergies and medication can have huge negatives effect from study to work. Nothing worked to diminish my allergies except for couple of hours ease the symptom's. At the end I have become my own doctor tried Vitamin C, Vitamin E...didn't work. One day I had a flash back; it had started 2.year at university , my partner being a millionaire's son wanting dine in at Micheline star restaurants 4 times a day (royals eating with silver spoons) I decided to prepare meals from scratch using natural ingredients. And also taking NAC not for allergies but for general wellbeing. At the same time found out Quercetin helps with allergies. I have also started taking vitamin D with K7. I don't know what eliminated my allergies but even do not get hayfever which I did all my life. Now, I look at people sneezing telling me it is Hayfever, I am thinking ''yes, I have been there" I didn't know NAC's function on allergies until this video. Touch wood, I haven't had any type of allergies for 2 years and still never touch any restaurant food or prepared supermarket food, and taking NAC, Quercetin, vitamin D with K7.

If memory serves, UVA did one such study. Look up the half-life of NAC. It's not very good in that it must be taken several times a day to have any lasting efficaciousness.
If a person has an issue like cancer and need to raise appropriate t-cells to create negative feedback-inhibition, NAC is going to be toxic.

NAC took 5 weeks stop my "illness". Had another two months well after that (feb this year) then got Anhedonia on two occasions which shut mind and body down for 24 hours each time. Started taking it 30 to 36 hours apart which worked for a couple of weeks. Then had a massive reaction to it leading to massive inflammation and infection markers on blood tests, 10 days of delirium, lost 11 KG (what muscle I had retained)Symptoms of bronchial infection, but definitely triggered by NAC. Am devastated. Made such a difference to my life. Now am back to feeling terrible all the time. This has gone on for decades. No one knows whats wrong with me. Blood tests come back "normal"- lost my spleen at 21, am 68 in October. Desperate for some wellbeing. Terrified of taking NAC again-got huge supply in fridge as thought I'd found a remedy. . . .any ideas, anyone?

The bacteria that causes acne also causes a lot of chronic lower back pain by infecting the disks in the lower back. So, it is possible NAC may help that too. I don't know if that has been studied. A fairly long treatment of antibiotics is probably better, though. But it is possible NAC may reduce recurrence.
I want to take biotin (for hair and nail health), but every time I do, I get acne, and sometimes back pain. Adding NAC sounds like a good try.
For topical acne, I just use tea tree oil, which seems to work like magic for me (I use just a little on some cotton and put it on the zit for 30 second to a minute, next day it is gone). And in studies of teens, eating a lot of lettuce is supposed to reduce breakouts. That is old info, so I don't know how well that holds up today.

    Doctor..
If you wouldn't mind answering a question for me..
For almost 2 DECADES, I have had every symptom of Leaky Gut and no doctor seemed to take me seriously.
I had one fecal immunochemical test done and was told it was fine.
Now I'm struggling with severe autoimmune symptoms for the past 11 months but 2 different doctors did comprehensive metabolic panel blood work and both said everything seems fine.
I'm miserable and desperate to feel better. Do you have any suggestions at all for testing or anything I can do at home to help myself?
The reason I'm asking you is because you mentioned a correlation between leaky gut and autoimmune, which I was not aware of but that makes a lot of sense.
I've cut out over 90% of sugar, carbs, processed foods, etc.. since these new symptoms started and I've been doing intermittent fasting every other day but something is very wrong with my body 😞
Any bit of advice would be greatly appreciated.

You have got to heal your gut to get better. I woke up suddenly one morning and was very ill. Everything I ate Caused inflammation. It's not only processed foods. Could be anything. First eilliminate all known allergens such as dairy and gluten. Then go all organic and stay away from gmo's. Make homemade chicken broth using feet, necks, and backs. Add L-glutamine to it every time you eat. Also give up the sugar because it causes inflammation. It took me two years but I am now 85 per cent better. Remember it's always the food that causes the problem. The have altered the foods with gmo so much and your body recognizes it as an invader. Doctors are no help, you have to do your own research. I'm in my seventies and it worked for me. Remember it's always the Food.

One example of this is with vitamin D supplements. If you take really high doses of vitamin D, you need to supply your body with more magnesium as well because vitamin D uses it.

Lower dosage. Open up the capsules, take half , likely a tolerance issue.

Specifically for this topic you're saying a lot of things that I've heard Dr Sean O'mara talk about.
He not only talks about the dietary changes you've mentioned but he said NAC is considered one of the most important supplements you can take and the rest you should be able to handle through dietary and health changes for the most part (give or take)

I bought NAC after checking and following the Blue Print from Bryan Johnson and after receiving it and taking it a bit, I saw that France is saying it's a drug and stuff like that. But you are bringing so much information and lots of benefits that I know why because they say it's bad to take it. Bad for them !

What is your role as a nutrition expert, or rather what is your education and what profession do you practice? It is important that when you receive information that you can trust it. You speak in a way that is very similar to a professional medicine man, pharmacologist or biochemist. Therefore, it is important to know what you are actually trained in and in which profession you work.

My understanding is NACET is more biovailable and doesn't seem to cause anhedonia like many online say they feel with NAC. I use NACET on off work out days and take glycine daily.

Hey Peter, could you make a video discussing the negative studies/anecdotes about NAC?
There's a bunch of reddit posts of people who were frequent users of NAC suffering from Insomnia/Anxiety. There was also a study that showed NAC caused severe brain damage in rats.
For the latter study, If you do look into it, I'm not sure if they accounted for the molybdenum depleting properties of NAC, which could be responsible for the damage. Would love to hear your perspective, because the benefits of NAC seem interesting (Most notably lung function and executive functioning enhancement)

I was taking nac for 2 or 3 weeks and experienced the worst insomnia. I researched it and also found post on reddit as well. I'm glad u post this question because NAC gave me alot of energy however I had doubled my dosage and I think that's what did it for me. Some ppl may be good with small amounts. Hopefully he answers this question because I stopped taking it. I was too scared
