    A little fun fact; When the falcon engines were initially built, none of them had the tracking wheel at the back, so the engines were 0-4-0's to begin with and were later modified to have the tracking wheels, so technically you could have the model in that wheel set up and no one would really complain.

    Looking great! You've distilled and captured a lot of the charm of these little locomotives. And, as you say, this is really timely given the recent debut of the Corris Railway's new Falcon.
    I won't repeat what others have said about the safety valves. Still, you might be interested to know that Sir Haydn and her Falcon siblings were originally built without those little trailing wheels under the cab - they were a later addition made to correct the tendency for the engines to "bounce" due to the long overhang the cab created at the back of the engine. From the angles you've shown, I think you've just about shortened the locomotive enough to possibly not need them.
    The final choice is up to you, but you could maybe make the trailing wheel an aesthetic option that people can click on and off.

    By the way, a cool detail perhaps would be to name the train after a fictional Lord or Lady on the island. Sir Haydn earned its name from the original owner of the Talyllynn Sir Henry Haydn Jones. Naturally of course, when Wilbert Awdry wrote his books, SIr Handel (based on Sir Haydn) was named after Sir Handel Brown, the original owner of the Skarloey Railway who in turn was a nod to Sir Henry Haydn Jones.

    If you ever end up making custom narrow guage locos based on standard guage, I have to specifically ask for one based on Dwarf or her sister Little England built by George England

    This would probably be for a v2 or 3 update long after full release, but when you talk about other engines, it would be nice to be able to upgrade to diesel or electric engines eventually. Though, if you're desperate to keep the aesthetic, you can always make them "Steam-Outline" engines.

    I volunteer at the railway that used to be home to bear it was sold of earlier this year it was in a sorry state the saddle tank had rusted through in some places the paint job has been changed to a brown colour to hide the rust and the cab was starting to fall apart

    “Pugs” aren’t the official name for *all* short wheelbase 0-4-0STs, the locomotive in the clip you showed is specifically an L&YR class 21, the nickname for that specific locomotive type being “pugs”, no relation to the Peckett you based your model on

    • @alexhando8541
      @alexhando8541 4 месяца назад

      Except that Pugs were a nickname used for 0-4-0STs, particularly in Scotland, regardless of class.

    I absolutely adore your little sir haydn model! Its short and stumpy and cartoony in all the right places! (Side note, the bars along the saddle tank are just some simple handrails) If you do decide to add another loco, might i recommend dolgoch? She wouldnt be as large as an edward thomas type but i can see her long wheelbase potentially causing problems on the tight turns. Either way, this game looks lovely!

    If you want a more open design of the cab, the Falcon locomotives did originally come with an open cab design (the best way I can describe it is that the top back panel with the windows are cut off).
    Idk where exactly you can find references for this design but it’s out there!

    • @alexhando8541

      Corris No. 1 was supplied with a roof, just not a weatherboard. I'd still argue that constitutes a cab
