I'm a gel kind of girl I can't handle too much volume since I have coarse hair already. Gel also last longer in between wash. For me less volume but more definitions especially those humidity in houston.

I'm a gel on humid and ☔️ days and mousse on good weather days and at night. I don't need a hard cast if I'm going to sleep. I wash my hair daily to remove product buildup and oil. I have fine oily curly hair and use leave in and mouuse and or gel to tame it so all of that has to come out. I don't like dull or flaky hair from product buildup or stinky head and hair from sweating and oil. Also hair goes everywhere I do so wash day = everyday! I don't want to bring all of NYC's pollen and pollution into bed with me.

I find mousse gives me more defined curls, but gel gives less defined but bigger hair overall. I r2th3r prefer the bigger hair on me than the defined...but I'm Gen X and we always had big hair😂
I recently found out that I like mousse better. I just started my natural hair journey and I might change my mind later. But the gel I was using would leave my hair a mess the next day no amount of fluffying up could fix it. I had to rewatch and remake the whole routine. Today I woke up to the same curls from yesterday. 💛💛

They both work really well for your hair. Gel tends to way down hair more than mousse that's why you have more volume on the mousse side.
