As a firearms instructor, i find it highly offensive that Alex Baldwin (THE MAN WHO ACTUALLY PULLED THE TRIGGER) hasn’t been incarcerated yet. Especially if this is the outcome of Hannah’s case. He broke the #1 rule of firearms safety. And for those of you that want to say “he’s only an actor”, i refute that with the fact that he has 100% used firearms in many movies he’s been in and there’s no chance he doesn’t know the safety rules. He’s also culpable, essentially. Where’s his jail time?

Doesn't matter. The armorer is there for all actors who handle firearms under the basis line belief that the actor knows nothing about the firearm (lowest common denominator principle). It doesn't matter what we think Alec knew about the gun, it is the armorer's job to be the final word on the safety of that firearm. If there was no such thing as an Armorer on the set, then yes, every actor would be liable for knowing gun safety. What a live round was doing anywhere near that set is troubling. Alec should be on the hook as a Producer who hired this person.

With the understanding of who her father is, nepotism was more likely the reason for her appointment. Do you think he didn’t know about the live rounds on set? It was apparently already an issue. So, again, he pulled the trigger in their direction, without verifying himself. Also, again, this is Alec Baldwin we’re talking about, who is a staunch anti second amendment advocate. If he wasn’t following the safety rules every time he handled a firearm, then he has no business pontificating his virtue signaling on the world. Culpable is the word. His reputation, alone, makes him more responsible than your average paid actor/extra/principle. For the same reason that professional fighters are held more responsible in street engagements, Alec is held to a higher standard. Even more so, to instructors like me, who truly care about education to increase safety. There is no easy solution to the problems we see today, but him getting away without at least manslaughter is a crime against reasonable people and ideals

She could have made a similar plea deal for a lighter penalty but chose the "it wasn't my fault" approach, even trying at one point to blame a company that provided some of the blanks, so police had to get a warrant and search that company to see if they had live rounds mixed with their blanks.

However, it’s essential to remember that blanks can still be lethal. In 1984, actor Jon Erik-Hexum tragically died on the set of CBS’s Cover-Up due to a blank cartridge. He pointed a gun loaded with blanks to his head, and the force of the explosion caused severe damage, even without a bullet"

It was reported that several days before this incident, a gun was handed to someone on the Rust movie set and they were told the gun was empty, but they pointed the gun at the floor, cocked it, pulled the trigger, and the gun fired a blank. That quick final safety check of pointing the gun at the floor and pulling the trigger was not an alien concept on that set, because it had been used a few days earlier and had proved the value in doing it, since it identified an incorrectly loaded gun. No, it is not part of his job to look. When an armorer handles the weapon they are to be the LAST person to do so before giving it to the actor and filming the scene. If you allowed actor's to have the final determination, would have broken the protocol and then anything could happen and you couldn't hold the armorer responsible, because they didn't check it last. I've been on sets where certain actors (rightfully so) have been nervous about handling a gun and had the armorer recheck the gun two or three times (smart), but it is the armorer's responsibility to be the final touch.

She was required to check the gun, which she apparently failed to do. The assistant director got the gun and handed it to Baldwin, then later admitted he had not confirmed himself whether or not the gun was loaded, and he has already made a plea deal. Baldwin drew the gun, pointed it in a direction that his industry's rules apparently state that additional safety procedures are required when doing so, but didn't wait for the equipment for those procedures to be put in place because they were only checking the lighting and framing of the camera, not actually filming. Each of these three people could have prevented the incident by simply doing their job as it is outlined in their industry's safety procedures.

However, she wasn't even in the building and had been sent somewhere else on the property to help someone else, so the assistant director got the gun from where it had been stored and took it to Baldwin. She is still to blame for live rounds getting mixed in with the prop ammo boxes, but the assistant director - who already made a plea deal and admitted his part in this - took on the role of checking the gun and handing it to Baldwin, and Baldwin did not question why he was being handed a gun by someone other than the "expert" that had been hired to hand guns to him. Three separate people were at fault in this incident. One made a plea deal, another has now been convicted, and the third is waiting on his trial date.

In the 1960’s when I was a kid I was into the Nancy Drew novels and I had Kodiak brownie 8mm movie camera. Me, a couple girlfriends and a guy friend from school made an amateur Nancy Drew film with my Kodiak brownie 8mm. I played as Nancy Drew and my guy friend played as a psycho killer. In one scene I was hiding behind a dead log and my guy friend used a hand auger and drilled a hole part way in the log where we put the barrel of a shotgun in. The shotgun would blow out the back of the log to give a dramatic gun blasting a log scene. The camera was filming the opposite side of the log I was hiding on. On my side of the log I poked my head above the log and I had the shotgun with the barrel in the log with buckshot. I fired the shotgun and it blew out the back of the log facing the camera giving us the scene of the psycho killer shooting at me. No one was behind the camera when I did this but I got a couple small wood splinters that gave me a minor scratches on my skin. It was stupid of me to do this. I could have lost an eye.
