Aloha , thank you for sharing this timeless movie. Believe it or not, I worked with Pinky Lee in the late 1970’s. It was thrilling as he had a TV show when I was a child and I always watched it. Many famous celebrities started in burlesque. Even in his senior years he was still very funny and talented🌟.
A treasure trove of fun. Who knew Stanwyck was such a good dancer/mover. But then she did start in the chorus in New York. And the wonderful Iris Adrian. She's a hoot!!
I absolutely love this film and have seen it many times on several channels including Turner Classic Movies and unfortunately NO ONE has a decent print of it! This film is in bad shape and desperately needs restoration. It suffers from the fate of many old films that were released for television in the 50's and 60's, they were hacked to pieces by each TV station to make room for commercials. That's why it's so choppy and seems to have parts missing. I hope someone finds another print and saves this wonderful film!

Steve Burstein Yes indeed. Which is why I’m so grateful that the 1932 Film “Rain” starring Joan Crawford was directed just 3 years before that fascist Code went into effect. It’s one of my personal all time favorite pieces of Cinema. For me the film “Rain” is so honest with itself & pays its own respects to the historic WW1 period that the films fictional plot lays play.

High-class this ain't. Here's tough lady Stanwyck in costumes by Edith Head, choreography by Danny Dare, and Iris Adrian in one of her 100 film appearances as a blonde bombshell, Gerald Mohr singing off-key, and Michael O'Shea as a leading man! Jeez, it's fun!
Thoroughly enjoyed the movie to the end ! Oh ya I used to watch Barbara Stanwyck in the " Big Valley " back in the 70s . Bionic man ( forgot his real name ) but he was on the TV series as well. There was another really good movie where Barbara Stanwyck was a rich married woman stuck in bed . She had a phobia gets a phone call from a stranger an then ......well....you know the rest.
Barbara married Frank Fay, who is in this movie. He was a huge Broadway star & she was still an unknown. They say that the movie A Star is Born, was about them. He was an alcoholic, beat his women, anti-semetic, huge ego, an all around son of a bitch. No one in Hollywood liked him. Barbara's star rose & he faded away. Just like the movie, A Star is Born.
I doubt that "A Star is Born" is about her marriage to Fay. She was not that big in 1937, when the first film was done with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.
Frank Fay is not in this film, you probably have him confused with the star Michael O'Shea who's the comic ( they do look a little alike). And "A Star is Born" is based on a famous silent star and his actress wife, not Stanwyck and Fay.
This is the first film I ever saw with Stanwyck, and was mesmerized. The film itself is pretty awesome, and also made me appreciate older films as well. I haven't seen her other films but this film really showcased her as not only a skilled actress but a classic Hollywood hottie.

They used the word Gunsol at about 24 minutes,that and the Maltese Falcon , the onty time I have heard it, in the Urban Dictionary ,they only site the Maltese Falcon,
