As a Colombian I truly chuckled when Patrick joked about getting his citizenship and then having an escuse not to be in time or deliver! In reality, Colombians have a hard time saying "no", so we say "yes" even if we know that most likely we won't be able to deliver. Anyway, this video is amazing! My wife and I are small reality investors and we have a few properties in Bogotá and one in Cartagena. But we will be looking at Cali now for sure!
Kali is the awesomeness..yesterday I walked in the middle of the night ..to by Great food ...the parks are so lovely n endless...nothing I be seen not in Medellin not in Bogota..the weather was perfecto ..I stay In Cali and Airbnb..my FORT LAUDERDALE LAUDERDALE 'S FL ..PLACE

Allow me two or three questions: What's your opinion on the latest changes from Petro's government to basically completely deregulate the Airbnb market (no more permits required, no more (at least theoretical) limitations to designated buildings} which should increase the "fly by night " operations. Secondly, I am a bit surprised on your positive stance on Cali as "the next big thing", given Cali's reputation as being stubbornly in the top 5 of Colombia's most dangerous cities (and little other redeeming factors to make up for it)? Unrelated/related: Do you have an opinion on Manizales, just out of curiosity....
Petro government airbnb changes: not voted yet. Deregulation is good and you want to focus on the high end market. The fly by night offerings will be low end / mid Cali: where are people going to go to after Medellin? Cali has a unique vibe. It’s dangerous but not that bad either. People also say Medellin is bad, but it’s livable. Manizales: no view
Really struggling on deciding between Medellin or Cali for a rental apartment. Will Cali ever be the draw that Medellin is? Is Cali the Medellin of 10 years ago? Tough decisions, wish I could afford both. I see Cali as having better opportunity for growth and better value for the peso currently, but only if we don't need to sell quickly within the next 5-10 years.

Colombia currently is angry that the USA requires a Visa for colombians to travel into USA. And they have tried to put pressure to removed the visa requirement, but Biden refused. So colombia has removed all of the good residency by investments and has begun to require US citizens only 90 days and to apply for any extension beyond 90 days. If you are European citizen..I think its much easier to get residency by investment and long stay visa free. EU allows colombians to enter visa free.
@@TheWanderingInvestor From what I've seen in NYC the city wants to limit Airbnbs because it takes too many apartments off the regular rental market. Same in Toronto and in Europe.

It’s not clear yet what they want to do. They might want to liberalize more. We’ll see. In any case owning a whole building is better.
