Dude to pull off one of Chon's songs like this is pushing the limits. Good show man, good show.
@@andrewgocken517 Thanks a lot man. I actually recorded bass on their last 2 albums.
How in the world do you play so well without any string buzz? What is your action like
Yepp, you sound good man
Thank you for making it!
Excellent!
Thanks
Agreed! Like, WOW!
I can agree, truly amazing
@@acebass123 You got the Sklar comment of approval.
the man himself
his technique is so soft, it feels like his hands are just liquid hovering over his bass.. amazing
haha. I love playing soft. I get a bigger sound that way.
@@acebass123 great tip !!
@@erradate6425 Gary Willis got me doing this, a great way to practice playing soft would be to crank the preamp gain on your amp/interface/preamp pedal or whatever to the point where you're plucking causes it to distort and to then play through tunes you know while keeping the preamp from distorting. Keep doing this incrementally until you're playing at maybe 25-50% of the force you were before.
The other thing you could do would be to set a noise gate that would catch notes that are too quiet. This will force consistency with your technique which will then give you the ability to utilize dynamics in your right hand to influence the music on the fly.
@@tylerwmbass man those are some great tips!
His Roscoe’s tone is so dope, Anthony is a beast!
Thanks so much
@@acebass123I mean you really are man, you just take a completely different look to bass that it so indescribably perfect. Hope you’re doin good 🤙

👍🤩
That tone! Heavenly
Thanks so much
🔥🔥🔥🔥😎👍
Thank you
How do you practice to play with so much feel and precision?
I just focus on the music and let it sing through my bass. I try not to think too hard. Just let it flow.
@@acebass123 I'm nowhere near your level of playing, but that's what I try to do as well. Thanks for a wonderful piece of music.
What kind of Bass Strings do you use and what gauge would you suggest for four String jazz bass
I use Dean Markley strings. Light Gauge. Light gauges always work for me.
Anybody know how to get this sound out of an active bass? Is it just a matter of cutting treble, boosting some upper mids and panning your pickups slightly to the bridge?
It depends on the bass. I cut down my treble, my mids are flat and I have a little bass boost. But thats pretty much the natural sound of my bass.
@@acebass123 Awesome. Your playing was great and your tone was killer! I've got an Ibanez BTB 5 string that I usually use for more slap style playing. I'm going to give this type of tone a shot.
@@acebass123 I need my money back on my Roscoe, It ain't never made me sound like that!!!! Lol, awesome work Big Dawg ---- been a fan for a while!
@@thort9ac haha. Well the sound comes from within you, not the bass.
Believe it or not, a LOT of his sound is coming from the position of his right hand. There's a sweet spot (usually just in front of the bridge pickup) where the string tension is higher, and you get this really punchy, burpy sound. It works well for music like this with lots of quick moving notes. If he tried playing this same song with his right hand over the neck pickup, it'd be very sloppy sounding.
Panning to the bridge pickup also helps, but how you play affects it quite a bit more.
Do think 4 string Bass is OK? THANKS
@Anthony Crawford nice set my brother. What brand of pickups are you using on that beautiful bass?
Bartolini pickups
@@acebass123 Roger that...Thanks!
damn
Thanks for watching
Great bass played great. Did I miss anything?
..this 21st century Music...🤯
HAHA thanks
Can anyone tell me which chords did the guy use
Oh.... ok ! :)
Easy to do something quite well when you love something.
Whats the brand of the bass that he use? anyone know?
that's a Roscoe bass
I play a Roscoe Bass.
Are you using a different sort of tuning? Or just standard 6 tuning?
Yes I drop down a whole step
Ah very cool that explains it. Sounds awesome
Omg stuuuuuuupid good
Thanks man.
Great. Modern midrange definition with enough low end to still be the bass. This proves you don't have to punk out your sound to be articulate.
wow sugar bass
