Any doors I’ve rebuilt I put a small amount of Lubriplate on the wheel and the gear mechanism . Seems to make the windows work better. As usual a good informative video. Thanks.

Great video. I’ve done several bumpside and dentside front doors and I never remember the exact order. I’m glad to see you’re the same. I’m restoring a ‘78 crew right now and will use this as a reference when reassembling the rear doors as they are different from the fronts. Interesting observation I’ve had is the rear door hinges on the dentsides are the same as the front hinges on the bumpsides. It looks like my rear regulators are modified front regulators so you could probably modify front ones to fit rear, but I’m not sure, I think they wind in the opposite direction as the fronts though.

To pass the wires through from jamb to door, I would use one of those rubber tube chases like on newer vehicles. They have offset ends so they twist instead of fold. You can get them off cars in the junk yard for cheap/free and they will look professional. Or even factory. Great build Matt, thanks.

The first time I replaced window felt on a Ford, was my 1965 Ford F-100 regular cab and found it easier to install the glass before you put the vent window back in. The other thing I found is that you sometimes have to put a washer behind the track near the curve to get it to seal up right, or just leave a little slack in the curve and just let the glass seat the felt in that one spot. But a little 3M old Yellow weather stripping adhesive usually fix the air noise.

Great video! I just used this as a guide this weekend to put my windows in my 1970 f100. It is much appreciated! I do have a question… After I installed the windows and got everything secure, the window wants to shift as it rolls up (about half way). It leaves a gap near the top of the vent window. I can roll it down slightly, roll it back up and it fits perfectly. FYI.. all new regulator, roller, glass, felts, 3:04 glass channel, hardware. I have adjusted everything I can think of. Any ideas on what would cause this? Thanks!

I’ve ran into that in the past as well but I don’t have a solution for you. I’m having that issue on the rear doors on this truck. If I come up with a solution I’ll be sure to share it. I am thinking about adding something into the felt track to take up the extra room.

@@MattKubik1791 thanks! When I pull the top of the vent window out towards the glass it seems to work correctly. But there can be a space between the vent window and the door. Anyways… I appreciate what you do! I love these old trucks and the work and fiddling that comes along with them.
