Family is so important, you only have one opportunity to make memories that will last a life time for your son. It sounds like you already know that. 😊 Thanks for making videos that show people you don't have to have a $40k rig to see amazing trails. I can't wait to see what you do next.

Looking forward to more. I’m debating using the 4.3 engine in my old scout and jk rubicon axles.

A 4.3 and jk axles would be a solid setup for sure.👍🏻

@@MuddyBeards4X4 it also comes with 410’s and lockers. And as someone who doesn’t know crap about that- probably cheaper than paying someone to build a Dana for me. I also want to stay as narrow as possible. The factory Dana 27’s are super narrow. I’m only planning on 33’s or 35’s…

I wouldn't recommend gatekeeps for the street regardless of legality. I bought 5 last year, 4 of them were a huge PITA to balance (with known good tires) and the last one visibly wobbles when turned by hand and produces errors on every balance machine I've taken it to.
They are great in the rocks though, even broke a bolt off and the surrounding metal held up enough that i could easily replace it.

Don't forget to grind on the rubber so the new patch will stick.

Yea with that kinda damage I would replace the tire. I wouldn't trust that tire. And your wasting your time and money.

It’s now a trail spare, not part of any normal rotation.

@@GrizzlyPath Right. Even Gluetread specifically says the product is only a 'get off the trail' fix to get you to a trailer or tow. Granted, people have certainly run them successfully on the highway but that's really not recommended. But as a spare to get off the trail? I'm fine with it. I've actually stopped carrying a spare in my rig and only have a comprehensive repair kit including these things. Carrying a 40" spare is tough in a mid-size vehicle (Discovery 1) and takes up a ton of space, money, and weight. Of course it's a gamble, so you make your own choice.

dot approved or not does not mean anything legal wise i drove my xj for years with racelines all over southern California with zero problems. dot does not = legal or not.
