I think this is great to see as the market in 2020 was really crazy. Prices now are looking much more realistic which allows first timers, old skool people to come back into the game and allows more exchange between people of amazing cards. The market in Yu-Gi-Oh needs to drop further. It's a hobby.
Let’s just hope it’s not a vicious cycle and people don’t get greedy again
Unless you are trying to buy meta cards. Then it's like 50 dollars a card on average
@@prickoftheyearyep. A lot of people see it as an “investment”, and many people make their living off selling on eBay.
The truth is that a lot of it is all about the money, and the reason that a lot of old school people got back into Yugioh/Pokemon was because they heard about the insane prices that the cards were selling at.
If 1st edition charizard was selling for $50 and 1st edition blue eyes was selling for $50, then nobody would’ve cared about getting back into the “hobby”.
They hadn’t thought about their Yugioh/Pokémon card even once in 20 years, then all of the sudden they always cared so much about their old cards that were in their attic somewhere.
Definitely nice to hear you mention jmp obelisk underrated. I just bought one for best offer around $580 in gem mint psa 10. I feel like it was a solid price and the pop for it is only around 80 compared to the secret rare obelisk that has 100s in a 10.
What really amazed me about this batch, was the booster box side. EOJ hobby under 1000 was like a steal, especially when Shining Phoenix Enforcer went on ebay for 3000k in PSA 10
That’s coming Friday lol thanks for viewing the videos.
I bought one of those for 90 bucks in 2016 maybe. Opened it in 2021 and didnt get anything special. Got enforcer in ultra and a majestic beast ohka in ulti
Really really informative video. Great coverage and reasoning for the prices and your personal opinion. You should definitely do it regularly, maybe bi-weekly or monthly (probably depending on auctions)! Keep it up man.
In my opinion, no we haven't hit rock bottom. We're likely going to experience a dead cat bounce, carried by the general broader markets, but that's about it. Compare current prices to 2019-2020 (pre-covid prices), we're still not close to those levels yet, and the prices we saw rocket are primarily due to a combination of inflation, money printing, and FOMO, instead of sustainable organic growth. Ofc, cards that are genuinely hard to acquire and grade in GEM MT (UTRs for select sets & prints [EU/AE], ghosts, and other anomalies like select TP ultras etc.), will be better insulated from the decline relative to their NA/abundant counterparts (like LOB/MRD ultras, NA UTRs, modern, and so forth).
Keep in mind, we aren't even in a recession yet. For those who do claim we are, are the one's that are misinformed/uninformed. Just wait until job losses and its effects begin to seep into the broader market, as we enter the inevitably nasty recession in ~2023-2024.
We're still at ~7% inflation guys, and that's only what we're being told on paper, it's likely higher. Just hold cash, and select cards that are very difficult to find/grade.
Just my 2 cents.
I agree with everything you said, but if it comes to this, wouldn't it be smart to pause any hobby for a time, to atleast get essentials that are maybe more important for your life and your family, than tcg cards to grade?
I'm a so called prepper myself, so I don't have to put anything on hold as I've prepared lmao thanks for viewing the videos.
Maybe im misunderstanding, but isnt it better to throw all cash out of the window and get value holding stuff in a recession with insane inflation?
@@marcel4941 If that was the case, card prices would be skyrocketing right now, alongside inflation. It's not that simple. There are better places to park your money during a recession, besides inflated cards/useless collectibles.
Meta let go of 1100 employees and that’s not the only big company that’s done this. it has started even if you think it didn’t it just going to be a long and ugly
Legit was thinking of this topic last night on the lead up, where we're at, and where we're going. Stimmy checks into the creator boom into the general interest into crypto bros diving money in VS now the less interested just wanting money back and out. It's a great time for true collectors, and I think some things will continue down a bit before you see the $$$ and demand meet it, while past formats continue to have rising demands, buyouts and interesting aspects. Great convo on it.
Honoured to have you comment on my video. I agree, a lot of the 2020 new found collectors are no where to be seen now lol love your work man, thanks for viewing the video.
@@StrictlySealed yee seen a few vids and always liked them ^_^ you easily earned the subscribe
I bought a few sealed boxes (lob, pharaohs servant, IOC etc.) throughout 2021 and 2022. The prices have gone down quite a bit from what I paid, which is a tad bit disheartening. But I am in this for the long game, so it will be worth more than I paid within a few years anyway.
You don’t know that for sure but probably
Great coverage on the auction, thank you.
It is crazy to see how far some of those cards have fallen. But for me personally it is great since now it is possible to pick up some cards that were to expensive before.
But not everything goes down:
If you look at the prices of the 30-200 dollar cards like ultimate rares etc.most of the went up over the last 2 years and that is what a good example of non-artificial growth should look like.
I'm so glad I discovered your channel. Very knowledgeable and informative content. Keep up the great work.
I need to get my original god cards graded. Parents bought them for me when they released and were $40/each. I put them in a hard sleeve, and have not touched them
great video man, keep it up. love these market recaps, do one weekly or every other week
Great breakdown and analysis. I agree I can't see super high end items like the LOB Blue Eyes PSA 9 dropping much more from these levels.
Economic downturn will definitely be amplified in 2023 however so overall items like PSA 9s and 8s might continue to get slashed.
Hey do you have 10,000 Dragon? What do you think about the price and where will it go in the future??? Thank you!
I got a LP copy of Red-Eyes Black Metal promo from Forbidden Memories for like $14 back in 2016. Insane to see the prices of a lot of these cards when I came back to the game. Sold my collection of old school stuff for dirt cheap because it wasn't worth much at the time, only cards that demanded value back then were the meta cards, collecting was more of an after thought in the community back then. Massive regret tho, wish I hadn't sold my stuff, as I could have made big profits off of my old cards if I waited 4 years. At the time I was done with yugioh and didn't think I would return, but as we always said, you don't quit yugioh, yugioh quits you. I kept a few decks I enjoyed from past formats if I ever got the itch to play a game with friends, but I did keep my Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon fortunately, such an amazing artwork of a cool but horrible card. The premium pack art is good, but that prismatic OCG style secret on the card looks amazing. Glad I kept it, because it is one of my favorite monsters and one of the coolest versions of Red-Eyes out there.
Really informative and interesting content man. Personally I feel like Yugioh is still going strong and will for a while longer. Like others said maybe the market will dip eventually but for the near future, we're still going strong!
The BPT promos are notorious for being damaged straight out of the tin, so a PSA 10 is extremely rare and worth a bit more premium. But the price paid is still too much
Yeah BPT notoriously low PSA 10 pop counts. So imo that should impact price
You love to see the prices come down to a more realistic value. I have always been skeptical of "auction houses" especially after Goldin Auctions were found guilty of shilling their own listings
Love market content keep it up!
I’m happy we’re seeing this decline. I’ve finally been able to start picking up cards I really like at non-insane prices
No way people are actually buying cards for hundreds of dollars. I think it's just the sellers' second account buying it, making it look like real people bought it for so much money.
Folks are finally realizing there are oceans and oceans of these cards, better late to the party then never.
Great video but you skipped the Victory Dragon lol. The only card i bought!
The prices of trading cards are determined by its popularity Yu-Gi-Oh's pretty much like game of thrones was every season keeps getting worse until the final season like Yu-Gi-Oh is unplayable and nobody wants to participate
Dark magician and blue eyes WCS 2019 pair on envelope sold recently for 1200$. So yeah pretty high for what they sold for. I agree with you. Great video man, indeed very informative!
I remember Zeeta winning that prized Dark Magician in Duel Links. He placed second in the world tournament where he faced all who topped tournaments. I can’t believe he sold it 😮
In my opinion, it’s not so much about how much a card is worth, but how much a person is willing to pay for it. Lots of people got great deals while others had to go the extra mile to acquire the card or cards they’ve been looking to add to their collection.
That’s what “worth” means lol
I’ve been waiting for a market update!
Thanks for the content and awesome analysis.
I have a really cool collection of what you call tcg player near mint. I wouldnt even have a qaurter of my collection if they were psa 9 and 10s that some people so desperately need/prefer. Its crazy this grading thing serious collectors love
Altough im mainly a collector, those price drops still fear the crap out of me. Please do more of these vids man, maybe once a month. Great content!
Also, do you think these cards will go up again?
Prices will never reach pandemic highs again unless the government decides to pump more free money into the market. Whatever happened after March 2020 was an artificial boom and the true price for cards are now coming.
yo Omar that's an insane new camera lens and lighting you got there!! - nice
Wow, didn't expect a drop that high on Platinum Blue Eyes
Those worlds envelopes actually sold as high as 4k on ebay. I was checking sold listings on envelopes when they were spiking during covid
Let’s gooo! I’ll finally be able to afford more cards!!!
Gray Hulk! Nice one
Hey man great video im happy for this news.. i think its time to start the LOB 1st ed complete set collection hehhehe. A question in this sense, u know an easy way to buy all the rares and commons in stock for this old sets? 1 by 1 is crazy to buy and check condition ecc. Ty very much if u will ansewer :)
Oh yeah, Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon ist so sick!
Love these sort of videos
When your talking about a 10-15% premium for a psa 9 graded card that’s pretty rough as psa charges like 10% just to grade the card
what would you value a raw NM off-centered SJCS-EN005 Gold Sarc? Been holding on to her since 08'
Respect for the shout out #0069US.
What do you think for PWCC? Should buy from there ?
Thanks For Viewing The Video
Thank you for supporting the channel man, just saw your sub :) thanks for viewing the video.
there is a reason that one card went for $2k and you want it around $1.5k... and the real value is around $1000 or less.... huge correction coming for everything but it is going to hit hard for card collecting. How bad it gets will depend on how long the bear market last in stocks.
Not even close. Wait until the recession gets worse, that's when to buy the expensive stuff
Is the YMA slifer psa 10 more worth than psa 10 gbi slifer ?
we are heading into a great depression style era, the DJI is looking exactly like the great depression and dropped 89% and all risk assets just got obliterated and you can see it happening now in crypto, shoes, and stocks, i think its about to get extremely scary if the money printers are not turned back on and all card games like yugioh and pokemon have never seen this type of crash so we coud see a 99% crash in everything and i know that sounds insane but just think about how fast the prices have grown in the last few years, that may all be wiped and we return to 2014 prices
are prices down since this video was made?
Yeah alot lmao
Can't wait for Friday!
Wait why is wavy monster reborn harder to find?
I'm curious if prices will drop to pre pandemic level or not. Because all the people who bought at the height won't sell their cards for less then what they paid (unless desperate). Only time will tell I suppose
They'll sell once they are desperate enough.
Can't wait till Friday hell yeah and I think Yu-Gi-Oh and pokemon will definitely go lower I already got me a kaboa starter deck blue eyes for like 40 bucks decent condition
Card prices are tanking and will continue to tank due to US markets. All assets are down due to uncertainty in the market.
Awesome video!
Bruhhh I was bidding on some of the booster boxes, but man like 2.5k+ USD per box is too rich for my blood lol
Great content. Keep it up
I have a blue eyes white dragon lob 1st edition... hmmmmmmmmmmm
What we have after 18 minutes. Price cards and sealed stuff is OK everything else can loose even more value.
I find it quite pathetic when trading card companies sell exclusive cards with a limited print. Wizards did this too with MTG.
You talked about every god card in secret rare except the Slifer from YMA. What is your opinion on this one? :)
I still remember seeing that one sealed in the wrapper for sale on TCGPlayer for $65 like, right at the very beginning of COVID (March 2020).
@@derrosenkavalier8890 #goodolddays ^^
Just gotta wait that’s all
Cards about to get really cheap next year
My dream card is copycat from retro pack 1 psa 10
Thank the Lord
Two words: “Shill bidding”
Only in america, i mean like great and all but who makes those figures. Here where i live in europe, some of these prices are what we earn in 1 month and that is speaking of 1500 euro and that is speaking of a "good" paid job. Easy for people who earn in comparison much more, but depressing to hear for us, you know. Oh well. Just how the market goes.
my guy you look skinnier!
No i think the camera angle did this thin looking
Yeah lol it’s the wide angle haha but I appreciate the support I’m working on it. Thanks for viewing the videos.
This game started as a tcg for children and it should go back to that way in terms of prices. No child trying to play this game would pay these insane prices and none of them are realistic prices at all
#69 LOL
To expensive for cardboard I bought some of these cards for 50$ or less back in the day
The best way to fix this is to reprint all these sets even reprint 1st editions the main ones that are overpriced are ultimate rares need reprint of these mainly my hero ultimates and cyber ultimates these all need ultimate reprints to make them 100$ I would love to have a chance to buy the ones I don’t have yet
The entire Yugioh market is absolutely inflated along with inflation lol. Once a real bear market recession hits you'll see some reasonable prices. Plus also with deflation coming also see very reasonable prices.
