@@tomtroy3792 If the disabled woman's lungs are restricted to the extent of requiring an oxygen machine to fill it, why even smoke to restrict it even further? Why would she also have enough money to buy cigarettes but not enough money for food? Makes no sense.
It is extremely dangerous she can make the oxygen tank explode.

Many of those vehicles in line are very new. Some of these people smoke, also.

Dude, the same could be said of people struggling in Democrat-led places like Seattle and Chicago. Inflation has hit EVERYBODY.
Food stamps are a federal program. And Joe Biden, a Democrat is in the white house right now. There are people hungry because of EBT cutoffs in both the reddest and bluest states. It will take federal action in order to boost EBT payments.
if you got money to smoke...then you have money to eat.
This region needs more than food. They need hope and life skills.
They also need real jobs, not part-time service jobs that pay nothing and offer no health insurance.
Maybe even have a national Healthcare system? Like Medicare for all possibly...
The problem with the people here in KY is that they've gotten lazy. Many will work until they get a paycheck and not come back. A lot of these people are sick because they didn't take care of themselves. How many of them were/do smoke cigs. Those are expensive and could easily go towards food. Mismanagement of money, not knowing how to budget is a life skill that definitely needs to be taught. But they don't want that. It's easier to get the handouts and be a slave to the gov. I only have empathy for those that have truly fallen on hard times to no fault of their own. Life choices have consequences and now a lot of these people might be too old, and as shown, too sick to take better care of themselves.
Some of these people are driving $40,000 - $50,000 (or more) cars and trucks. Yet they can't allegedly manage to feed themselves.
Well to be fair in Kentucky you must have a car. The government there has never really invested in mass transit.

Prior to covide I was turning wood products to sell. At the end of covide I developed Chronic Pancreatitis which after two years still prevents me from working due to the pain. If I push it I lay in bed the next day or just sit here watching youtube or reading. I will have to go to the food pantry now. The surgery and later internal bleeding wrecked my body and I still weigh only 120 lbs., used to be 172. When the pain subsides I'll go back out to my wood working. I'm 72 and can't really start over.

How do they all have such nice cars? Driving 20,000 pick up trucks and crying about being broke? shouldn't they be walking? Shouldn't they be thinner if they were actually hungry? If you can afford a car\truck you can afford food.

In 1993 the first time I when to a food bank I was driving a 1976 truck husband was tiring to get his disability I see all these people smoking and driving newer cars I'm still drive a 2004 car never had a new car in my life people need food yes but need to spend their money wisely

Christ almighty. Cigarettes are $9 per pack and some are smoking while on oxygen. Kinda looks like self inflicted pain. This isn’t a small town problem exclusively.

a lot of the homeless and people that go to these food banks do not need the food. I live in Los Angeles county and see all kinds of homeless asking for money and claiming that they do not have not eaten in weeks. If you had not eaten in weeks you could not even stand up to ask for money because you probably would be dead. They also go to a burger place and chow down and than go outside the door claiming to people that they are starving. It sickens me that the homeless do that.
First thing they buy are cigarettes.

The couple smoking cigarettes while simultaneously hooked up to oxygen tanks really gets me. Btw are those tanks paid for with medicaid.? Just wondering. @@debbieframpton3857 Yes, it’s not worth idling the engine as their car inches toward the food distribution area. They’re polluting the air and in the summer heat, they got the AC running hard. That’s why they filled the gas tank to the top to alleviate the stress of running out of gas.
I hope as well that these people would quit smoking & use their money to buy food, but smoking is an insidious addiction & these sad people have little incentive or means to stop smoking. It is one of the few "pleasures" in their sad lives.
And they have cars or pickup, get rid of the cars you'll have enough food. People want it all . Smoking and cars. And whatever.

I have 2001 van. There is no way to get to grocery store to get food. Zero services for seniors. No transportation, other than one way to emergency room.
In Western Illinois, the poverty rate is 20 percent. There are several food pantries that do a fantastic job of getting the donated food out to those who really need it. Meeting some of them has been an excellent experience.
Keep sending $billions to Ukraine and funding hundreds of military bases around the world, should be ok.

Folks might not even be able to get to the food pick up without it, so there you go… a bias. “All these poor folks driving up in nice vehicles” when they likely wouldn’t be in the video at all if they didn’t have transport. As for cigarettes and such… don’t poor folks deserve pleasure and escape too? After working a hard day, don’t you want to have a beer and decompress a little?
