    The Recon, will be placed just below the Wrangler in the model line. Making the Wrangler the "Luxury"/Halo 4x4 SUV; of the brand. Most people don't off-road them anyways... so the Recon, will do just fine. Offering a lot of the Wrangler utility! This allows the Wrangler to scale-up in price... with editions priced like G-Wagons!!! You heard it here first!!!!

    Looks like Jeep is trying to make a Bronco on the front end. I agree with your assessment. Not a fan. Jeep needs to be a Jeep. Do not copy. Other manufacturers copy you.

    The Recon looks awesome! Ford has to be pissed, clearly designed to take on the Bronco with that suspension. Looks perfect for me. Don’t need to do hard core rock crawling, but I want general off-road competency, open air driving, and good on-road handling. All that and zero emissions…very cool!

    The new Recon, is Jeep's G-Wagon, Defender & Bronco. At a more affordable price... Good move! This way the Wrangler stands more alone, with no other. A more unique offering in the marketplace.

    All of these people who are banging their drums about EVs as capable offroad vehicles are out of touch with reality. The manufactures tout great ranges, but that's under ideal general on road conditions. The batteries drain insanely fast in real off road conditions. A buddy of mine has the 4xE and we've tested the range 3 times on actual trails. Running solely electric, the maximum range he can get is 7 miles. Imagine if you didn't have a gasoline backup resource. You'd be stuck with no way to recharge. Even if brought a gasoline generator, you'd be sitting for hours waiting to recharge.
    It would be so amazing if RUclipsrs would do some real world testing on these things. I think everyone needs to see these for what they really are - mall crawlers and glamorous grocery getters.

    I like the styling okay. Love the power top and better ride of the independent suspension. Seems like a great beach cruiser to me. Just not 100% sold on the look, and like you said, the range is going to be important. The Rubicon trail is only about 22 miles. Another 16 miles (total for both ways) to Lake Tahoe, which is the town he was talking about, and that's only a range of about 38 miles. However, I am not sure how much EV juice the Rubicon would take. Although it's only 22 miles, it might be intensive when you're crawling. I just don't know. I personally need at least 300 miles minimum in order for me to consider an EV. 400 or more and I'm definitely a potential buyer.

    A Warn Zeon 12 platinum winch at full capacity draw pulls 446 amps. How much do you think that will reduce your mileage if you had to use it? Math word problems of 2023.

  • @robg7543

    I bet this Jeep has an adjustable air suspension system and that's what those paddle switches were for. Several reasons why I think this. 1) For range reasons. I believe Cybertruck is doing the same. 2) If you look at images on Stellantis's EV platform page there is a see through image of what appears to be a future jeep that looks exactly like the Recon and it looks like it has adjustable air struts. 3) To stop us from modifying the suspension. An off road EV in this configuration is uncharted territory (they don't want us messing with it).
    If they really want to win us over, it must have the following: 600 HP, 600 ft pounds of torque (remember this will probably weigh over 5500 lbs.), 400-500 miles of highway range, rear wheel steering at low speeds, front sway bar disconnect, rear window powers down into the tailgate, mirrors attached to the A pillar. Did I forget anything?

    They are claiming 400 miles of range ,, and this looks extremely similar to a first Gen jeep KJ Liberty .. except the electric motors of course , and liberty has a hybrid IFS Dana 30 front and a solid rear axel mopar 8 1/4 rear axel which is basically a dana 44 , they use in ram trucks ,, and a KJ has a payload of 1150 lbs and tow capacity of 5,000 lbs… but the KJ has way better approach , crossover and departure angles and has a much beefier frame and suspension , from what i have seen so far.. compare them you will see they look very similar..

    About the dimensions: if the guy presenting is 1.8 m high. He takes 5 steps to cover the length so it is like 4.5 m. and 1.9 m in height. However, I think the car is incorrectly proportioned in photoshop next to him because the wheels are too big - they are above his knees almost to his hips - those are in 35 inch territories (no way this has such big wheels!). More likely I think this is like a bronco sport (this small one) maybe just a bit longer. But it looks way better than the bronco sport overall, it does not have the horrendous C pillars (which comes with bad visibility) and it looks to have bigger wheels. In my book, it fixes everything I hated about the bronco sport which was a smaller off-roader (the car I am looking for). So this one looks great, can't wait to find out more about it.

    I’ll never buy a EV Jeep or not. I may consider a Hybrid but I have a wander Rubicon and love it. Being that I live in crap hole California and 2035 they will ban selling gas cars, I’ll still have the Rubicon and another jeep so I’m set. Definitely don’t like anything about the Recon but the tan color of the seats. That is definitely not a off reader or electric and water don’t mix. Crazy people who buy EV for off roading are in for trouble.

  • @glenngore6609
    @glenngore6609 2 года назад

    This thing looks more like a direct Bronco competitor and based on that, they should keep the regular Wrangler in the lineup because it is more customizable. You cannot rip out the suspension and drivetrain of an EV and put 46” tires on it, you just can’t. Therefore, I don’t see any RUclipsrs ever having one of these. I have found the Bronco to be very much too wide for a lot of trails, Black Bear Pass for one, and the lack of articulation in the suspension will make this thing just as useless as the Bronco in situations where a solid axle is mandatory because of the need for flex. This is a nice vehicle, I look forward to the final model.

    No way! Will never want an electric vehicle. Especially an off-road one! You have to charge for hours instead of 1 or 2 minutes of filling your gas tank… would you have to carry extra batteries to get a charge so you do not get stuck out in the middle of nowhere? As we see in California… they cannot handle power needs now.. are they going to take half the state and destroy the natural environment to place endless fields of solar panels and windmills just so the cities have power?

    • @FluffyHawk13
      @FluffyHawk13 2 года назад

      They need to stop with the charging station bullshit and put solar panels and other recharging methods for offroading...

    • @Schwarzorn
      @Schwarzorn 2 года назад

      What the-- You stupid?? It takes a lot longer than one or two minutes to fill a tank, not even counting the time spent waiting in line or doing the transaction. Not to mention needing to get out of your car in nasty and cold weather.
      An electric car doesn't take hours. It takes SECONDS. You plug it in each night on your way into your house. Done. Didn't even have to stand out on thr cold, wait in line, make a detour in your drive, or even THINK about refueling. Ever. Again.
      Carrying around a loose can of gasoline seems dangerous. Especially in a vehicle that will definitely cause it to spill.
      More stupid. They already have fields of farmland, don't they? No need to cut down the forests. Assuming they even have any.

    I would say that the rear glass on the sides and the tailgate are actually electric windows. Most owners of the Wrangler 4XE are disappointed with the distance they can go off-road, this would be even worse being all-electric, and need a rack for the generator and fuel. Will be great for going to the Mall though. Great review Casey.

    Jeep Wrangler replacement ??? I certainly hope not , I'm no luddite , just stating facts, the technology just isn't there yet , for any kind of practical off road travel . The infrastructure just isn't there yet . Good luck going overlanding in something that may get 4 or 600 kilometres in perfect weather conditions (what about winter or cold Fall-spring days when you have maybe 30% battery power if lucky) where are you going to find charging , quick charging, in the middle of the bush . The the batteries way a ton...the more power you want the heavier the vehicle has to be because of the batteries it's a case of diminishing returns...ie the heavier it is the more power that is needed which requires more batteries which is heavier......and so on and so on ??
    And this Recon is nothing like a wrangler and will not be as capable , with IFS and IRS YYyyyikes no thanks.....In my opinion it kinda looks a bit like the new LandRover Defender = YYyyuk , awful just awful no character and no soul.
    They are going to do to the Wrangler Jeep real Jeep, what LandRover did to the awesome old Defender...only worse terrible(at this time) electric tech.
    No the automotive world is going to hell in a hand basket , making vehicles with 0 character and soul . ThankChrist I have a 2-Door Wrangler and a 4-Door wrangler Rubicon which I will never let go. They will be collectors vehicles, as has become the old Defenders and Series Rovers....vehicles with that certain special something....classic style , particularly when viewed through the lens of what garbage they are trying to shove down our throats , and try and convince us it is good for the environment when in truth EV's are dirtier in totality from manufacture to battery disposal and mining of lithium , as well as charging (coal fired generators). Smoke and mirrors....Smoke and mirrors, Snake oil salesmen.....this is what it all is, and people are swallowing it all, hook line and sinker. Wake up people!!! Cheers Wild Bill Overlanding the Arctic watershed of Northern Ontario and Northern Quebec...Trans Taiga baby wooo Whooo!! Never stop exploring.

      @@mikehayward4423 Dude, I went to EJS in Moab, and went to the JEEP booth where they had a 4xE..they said it is all a sales gimmic. They are over weight with batteries so they do not have a range over 100 miles and takes 4-7 hours to charge. He also said buying one helps the ego, not the polanest...FROM A JEEP REP AT A TRADE SHOW...100% scam but the leftist will buy it.

    Its an ugly electric bloated Jeep Renegade..
    Those red switches look just like the aux switches on the Wranglers, just moved to the console
    Its a pass for me

    100% hate it. I've had three different jeeps in my life I will never drive an electric jeep they will lose a customer sorry to be so harsh about it but that's the way it is.

    Looks like a renegade and bronco smashed together.
    Not only I don’t care for the look but I have zero interest in any electric vehicle.
