Ellie I love what you say about finding style by finding ourselves. Other style systems seem to focus on our outer appearance to find our style, and it can be so hard to be objective about our own appearance. I love your streams exercise because it focuses on who you are inside and what you want to express in the world! It feels like artistry and is completely brilliant!

Thanks to your video interview with Gizelle; I took Ellie-Jean’s quiz and what I did was to take the words of mushroom, mountain, sun and flower and I found that mushroom describes my use of neutrals. Mountain for the draping and structure that looks best on me, the sun for my statement and bling jewellery, and flower describing the fabrics that are best for me.

Also how are you finding the essence blend reading? I feel like the ones she pinpointed are your dominant in terms of your energy/vibe, but natural and dramatic (and romantic) are still there in terms of your silhouette. I love how she pinpointed your personality/energy more than just looking at your features.
@@onipot9639 So i think she went based on my coloring and facial features, which is where PSC/kitcehner focuses. Kibbe tends to view yin/yang balance a little differently. I assume I'm still a Kibbe FN. But Liv Tyler is also a kibbe FN and has dominant I/R.. So I"m just trying to treat them as individual systems and how I merge them is dependent on my preferences, but having different answers in each system is common. I'm only 5 ft 6, so I"m not super tall or long, but I recognize in kibbe I'm still most likely an FN

The collab of dreams! I love style roots! I know I'm SD in Kibbe, but all I ever see in SD recommendations are wrap dresses and fur stole's, it can be frustrating. Finding a name to my style (roots) is validating 🥰

On the flower example of crossing over with the other style systems (flower~soft gamine) there are so many different kinds of flowers! Like a lush rose could be ying and romantic or a small tight rose or tulip might look more classic but a Lilly might be more dramatic and Yang with its sharp angles, a daisy feels quite obviously gamine.. I think there is something in this…
Next great conversation 🙂. If I can have one remark - it would be great if you could ask more open questions to your guests, because many of them are questions with thesis. Or you start with open question....but then you add: "is it this or that". And I have a feeling that your guests, who are very creative people would often suprise us with answers if they would have more space or have to dig deeper, not confined to answer "yes, no, it's this". They are all quite talkative, so that saves the situation 😆, but it's risky! Keep going and keep growing! ❤️

Sounds like our 3 main influences are the true “roots” of our style & the others we like are the flowers/trees that grow from the roots 🥰
I've loved Elle Jean for a long time. So cool to see another fabulous women talking so intelligently about these topics. Looking at fashion and aestehics in these ways has allowed me to better understand why something gives certain effects. I used to not get why leather jackets fx looked so cool on other people but really weird on me. But then I realised I dont have a moon style root, I am an SD and soft autumn so (most often) black, heavy fabric jackets with a short line and no waist definition looks boxy in a very awkward way.

I loved this video! I’ve been following Ellie-Jean for sometime and just subscribed to your channel last night. I had followed other content of yours but somehow missed this channel. I’m really looking forward to going through some older stuff and being here as new things come out. I’ll also say that when I dress in my three style roots I get compliments every time! By people I know and complete strangers.
I’m the flamboyant natural with the mushroom flower (and mountain) style roots LOL
I find it’s more about honoring the space and silhouette of my body type and then allowing a lot of that mushroom in and maybe a few frills here and there or maybe a bow on the sleeve for the flower or just lighter makeup and the curled hair for the flower and obviously I feel like mountain can just work really well with us Yang types. But it does help that I have a strong classic essence I think, to help pull in the mushroom.

This was really great. I’ve really enjoyed trying to figure out my style roots, but couldn’t settle on a third one (after sun and moon). I waited patiently to see the different examples on Pinterest which made me even more confused both because I was surprised by what resonated with me the most (sun+moon+flower) but also because I found quite a few other categories that felt right but involved different roots. I loved what you said about reinterpreting other trends or roots through our main three because it made me notice that I could indeed interpret or adjust most of the looks I liked through the sun moon and flower roots, and I felt much more confident in that choice.

I love all these collabs you are doing. I have looked at some of Ellie Jean’s older content but haven’t dived into the style roots yet. Now I will go back and really check that out. And major respect to Gabrielle for bringing all of these other stylists on the podcast. So so many great questions! The most important thing for me would be looking for ansewers inside not the outside. I wasted so much time asking people on a group ,stylists about my Kibbe body type and color season. People say I must be a gamine, theatrical romantic, flamboyant natural and classic. How crazy is that?! I realised, I've totally lost myself and I knew what I like and look good before all that journey. It's that because I can't rely on someone else's opinion or a 'verdict' I need to feel it by myself 😊

This was so interesting! Thanks to both of you for doing this! I have been following Ellie-Jean for a while now and I'm familiar with her system. I was lucky enough to know that I was kibbe soft classic before I started learning her system, so I could see quite a few similarities between myself and Ellie-Jean. I would say my main style routes are flower and mushroom. I haven't yet identified if I have a third one and what it would be, but that's okay! Not knowing that leaves room for more self discovery and ultimately that's what makes this style journey so much fun. Looking forward to the next episode! 💕

I actually like changing my silhouettes in winter because my main priority is ease of getting dressed and being as warm as possible. I find that wearing tights can be tedious and I know I'm usually in a worse mood in winter.
Does anyone else feel that they dress better/enjoy clothes more during certain seasons? I hate the cold so having a wide variety of pants has made a huge difference.
Yes, I think she was just giving an example if someone didn't want to change their silhouettes. I think everyone finds what works for them each season and how to tie their style toolbox elements together when the weather changes
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I definitely think I'm a special case because I get colder than average! Just speaking from my experience. That could definitely work for others since style is so varied and personal.
I finally made it today to watch the video! And it inspired me to look again at my style roots and how they have changed since last year... Now with all the new information I gathered especially in the last months and even weeks my style roots should be a blend of SUN, STONE and MOUNTAIN. I guess that will be hot to practice and put them to the test in real life!

It's funny to me that Boho is associated with Natural essence/Kibbe type. I think of it as more Romantic, especially if you're using Stevie Nicks as your archetype. ( I think she's a Romantic/Dramatic type as far as style essence goes ) But I guess there''s a certain amount of overlap between Naturals & Romantics. I know I always score evenly between Natura & Romantic on style quizzes.
Ya it used to be very closely linked to the natural family in kibbe. But with Kitchener I would absolutely say boho fits much better in the romantic or even romantic/ingenue category.

If you ever do a part 2, I would love to hear the thoughts on what happens when a certified determination blow your beliefs. I had a Caygill color typing, and the colors are not what I expected. Also @elliejeanroyden, what happens if your colors just don't seem to be able to fit into the style root? Or if you cannot locate your colors not only in your wardrobe but they aren't remotely on sale? Thank you so much for this session.
Well I’ve had a couple of those…finding out I’m a bright spring (through my sci art certification) and that I’m IRG in my essences on the Andrea pflaumer episode. I think it takes time to process and build up a relationship with how you use the info. My video on my analysis results might help. Also Ellie Jean has a video on how to use colors in her style roots palette and it goes over how to address it if they feel misaligned
@@Gabriellearrudadesign TY! I have watched a LOT. ofher videos, yet cannot find what I am poorly articulating. In the CAYGILL, because I was determined to be a blue-eyered autumn I didn't even align with a specific archetype or season, and pulled from autumn, summer and spring (I have a mix of clarity and mutedness, cool overlayed with gold). and my colors are in smokey blue autumnal with some warmer (in corals and bricks), very dune beach in autumn grassy greens, driftwood, etc. And the colors are dark enough that it seems hard to bring in any dainty/feminine. I also can't find these colors I have in many clothing let alone to pull a style root. :). I can't seem to align my colors with Kibbe (the Kibbe book is in our LA Public library) and have no idea of what I am. I value what you both know. TY AGAIN!
