Ellie, Icey Pastels are also within the palette of Dark Winters. I suppose that falls under cool tones. But I wanted to mention it since it wasn’t mentioned in your video. Anything that Is mixed with white and or black is great for a dark winter imo. Loved this video however it was super helpful and gave me a new perspective on silver and gold.

Finally FINALLY I was able to conclude that I am in fact a dark winter. It was so hard to verify it because all the examples that are normally used are celebrities and I think it’s so hard to compare my „normal“ face and body to theirs. But after I saw the pictures you’ve included of „normal“ people without makeup I realized that my features are exactly like theirs - so thank you for the great examples!

Color seasons can be so tricky! I always thought I was in the autumn range, but it turns out I'm a dark winter! During color draping, I had "mixed results", so the colorist suggested that I might be an olive tone. We tested various colors to find the palette with the most matches (dark winter). If you can afford it, I highly recommend doing it! Even if it’s just for the experience of seeing how different colors look against your skin and gaining that perspective. I don’t regret it at all. I may not fit neatly into one category, but now everything makes sense, and I feel more confident.

I'm in a similar boat. I seem to straddle Dark Autumn and Dark Winter. Some from both sides work on me. Both give VERY different impressions. Dark Autumn looks very soft, cozy, and my skin becomes golden. Dark Winter looks very regal, intimidating, and my skin looks bloodless and flawless in the best way possible. My skintone it most likely VERY neutral, which is why both work.
Makes me feel a little nuts, though. :/

Me too. I am always looking for more clarification between deep winter and dark autumn for myself. More than just the typical "it depends if you're cool or warm toned? What jewelry looks best? " Blah blah blah lol. If i knew that, i'd have my answer wouldn't I?! 😂 so i am using both palettes to make a 13th color season lol!

I´m a dark winter, too but with freckels! My wardrobe contains all the beautiful dark winter colors, but I steal some true red and blue from the cool winter and throw it into the mix. I also like wearing an all black outfit with accessories in our slightly warmer neutrals like olive, greige etc. The one thing that made me clearly see I was a deep winter compared to a deep autum is the jewlery - I look so much better in silver!

I love the idea of creating a mood board! I’ve started working on it and used keywords associated with the bright winter palette. Then, I separated the images into "my style" and "not my style". Although all the images in the "my style" section were randomly chosen based on their colours, I noticed they either had elements of ethereal, dramatic, or romantic essence. These are essences that I suspect I have. It also helped me visualise how those essences look as a blend in my colour palette and made it clearer where my aesthetic preferences lie.

Great video ❤️ Could you please expand upon this and do a piece on how dark winter ages? And how ageing affects our colouring? I was identified as a deep winter over 25 years ago, and can see how my colouring has faded and my hair is now very silver (which I love!). I’ve heard that deep winters can turn to cool winters, and should dress according to those colours. Or do we just move to an even more smoky, soft palette?

I had a hard time deciding if I'm a dark winter or dark autumn - but later I found that it's totally normal, as those two seasons are more neutral and can borrow from one another. I have a red undertone to my skin, not grey, so yellows, oranges and purples with a red undertone look best on me even if they are warm (mustard yellow, carrot orange etc). And yes, brights except white look off on me. And I prefer wearing navy to black, as black is also too high a contrast.

Dark Winter and Dark Autumn can be very similar, making it a little difficult to figure out which season you belong in.
I experienced it myself: I have a light skin tone and hair "as black as ebony".
“Unfortunately” my skin also has this olive tone that appears superficially yellow-golden (=warm) in summer. And all the autumn colours suddenly looked terrible on me! That's when I realised that I DON'T have a warm undertone 😅A lipstick and eyeshadow test made it official: dark, cool colours suit me so much better - I must be a Dark Winter.

I can wear dark autumn colours in clothes, but no warm make-up either! I also thought that I may be dark autumn because for a few years I dyed my hair red with highlights and it looked good on me. Later I discovered that my skin has a red undertone, and everything with a red undertone, cool or warm, looks good.

I am much more of an Anne Hathaway kind of DW. Dark brown hair but still much lighter than my fellow Asian friends, quite pale white skin as well, which gives me that very intense high contrast. I considered True Winter for myself as well since I’m quite “light” compared to most DWs and black sometimes look a bit dark next to me but I’ve found that bright reds, bright blues overwhelm me quite badly, I look much much better and get so many more compliments in dark, jewel colours! It’s like Lucy Liu in that bright purple dress vs black, the purple just overwhelms her

Also, it's common to mistake DW with DA because DW are in the midst of warm and cool, being mostly neutrals. But I think DA has low contrast so that could be the biggest give off to know

It’s possible to be neither but fall within the “dark” palette. This is more likely if you have truly neutral undertone. Also keep in mind that Dark Autumn and Dark Winter are sister seasons. If you fall within one or the other, you’ll likely be able to “borrow” some colours from the other. Dark Autumn tend to have a neutral-warm undertone whereas Dark Winters have a neutral-cool. For example, I’m pretty much 100% sure I’m a Dark Autumn, but I also look good in some Dark Winter colours- especially the greens, purples and burgundy red type shades.

It’s like a cross between comfort and innocence but retains the sensual nature of womanhood + practical items like backpack.

Is it possible to be a combination of dark winter and dark autumn? I often find myself fitting a lot of criteria across these two seasons.

You'll still be one or another but can borrow colours from the sister season. I was confused myself, as red hair looks good on me, and many "autumn" colour clothes as well, but later I found that my skin had a red undertone, and it was the red undertone that made it work, and not the "warmth". Google "Deep Winter Seasonal Color: The Ultimate Guide" with quotes, it is what it says - the ultimate guide, that answered all of my questions and resolved the confusion for me. What helped me decide was the makeup - I don't look good with peachy blush or warm/orangy lipstick

There’s an in between flow palette called the ‘neutral’ palette (in the 16 season system).

Would you do dark summer? There’s so little guidance about that and I know not every system uses it, but I got typed as one. At first the analyst wasn’t sure if I was a winter, but my colours were more muted than winter although leaning dark and cool. Not sure why I wasn’t a soft winter, I think it was to do with contrast

Style Me Jenn has a great video series about these seldom discussed "in-between" seasons. Would highly recommend.

So I wear all of these shades that you mentioned and get loads of compliments on them. I also suit both silver and gold, but silver is slightly better. However, I naturally have deep blue/green eyes and dark blonde hair. I have barely there eyelashes and eyebrows normally too. I've dyed my hair red or pink for 30 years, since I was 11, as well as darken my eyebrows and always wear mascara or realistic looking black lashes. Basically I fake my contrast but it looks natural on me, and my features really need it. Whenever my pink or red hair is very light I look bland or washed out. Some say I look ill. Whereas much darker shades immediately make me look well and my features standout whilst looking harmonious and not false. I'm basically a fake dark winter but I don't understand what this means for me. Ultimately my natural colouring and contrast doesn't suit me, so what does that make me? Please help Ellie-Jean because I'm so confused by this.
Also, I can't wear light colours or overly warm or bright because I look ill. Look best with darkened lips. What does this meeeeeannnnn

I really think I am a mouse blonde dark winter. Grey scaling my picture I really need the medium to dark contrast colours I look rubbish in soft pale colours and I am neutral leaning cool skin. I thought I was a deep summer but I can wear black and go deeper in colour than the pallet. I would love to see non typical dark winters as many people say lighter hair but still have contrast can be a winter but I’m struggling to see the connection.

Does anyone know what type Lily Colins would be? People always say I look a lot like her when she plays snowwhite (hair color, skin tone, eye color etc.) but I still don’t know what colours would look good on me 😕

I love your videos, but colour season is not determined by the obvious features and appearance of the person, but rather, the way that the skin reacts to the colours. I have dark hazel eyes, medium auburn hair, and very pale skin. I was strawberry blonde as a child. I am dark winter, but am not obviously dark.

I've been told I'm a DEEP winter which seems to be the same as a DARK winter.
I'm biracial (black and white) and I do wear a lot of those colors except blue bc I hate the color 😂
And I wear the colors "not" for me bc I like them.

Constat déprimant mais réaliste que les mayas ne sont plus tellement à la mode.
