Ayrton Senna tests a McLaren at Pembrey Circuit - 21 September 1988

Despite having never hosted a Formula 1 race, Pembrey Circuit in Carmarthenshire became a popular testing venue for F1 teams during the 1980s and 1990s. In September of 1988, the HTV cameras were at the track to follow Ayrton Senna, widely regarded by many as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, as he tested a modified version of the McLaren MP4/4.
During the test, Senna set a lap time of 44.43 seconds, which remains the unofficial lap record!
Er nad oedd Trac Rasio Penbre yn Sir Gaerfyrddin wedi cynnal ras Fformiwla Un erioed, fe ddaeth yn fan poblogaidd ar gyfer profi ceir F1 yn ystod y 1980au a'r 1990au. Ym mis Medi 1988, roedd camerau HTV yno i ddilyn Ayrton Senna, dyn sydd yn cael ei ystyried gan nifer fel un o'r gyrrwyr F1 gorau erioed, wrth iddo brofi fersiwn addasedig o'r McLaren MP4/4.
