The theory that an ice moon called Veritas broke up under the gravitational forces from Saturn as it got to close seems reasonable enough with the data we have at present to work with. As the pieces spread out during the early formation of the what we now see as the ring system, there must have been some spectacular temporary patterns made as the various bits spead out crossing over the orbital paths and nearing the other moons orbiting Saturn. All though we can't say with any certainty that the moons presently orbiting Saturn at this time were there as the rings formed, it is however a reasonable presumption that all or at least most of the moons were already in orbit around Saturn at that time. The various moons must of had some effect on the expanding and forming ring system which would have made some very interesting swirls and or eddies in the early stages of the developing ring system as it formed in to what we see today.

@ 5:36 how was Roche able to demonstrate the Roche limit? Through mathematics? That’s not science it’s just mathematics… That’s like computer simulations, garbage data input just means garbage data output and thus you have a computer simulation that realistically doesn’t simulate anything in reality.

Stunning that we can pull off landing on such distant objects. Wouldn't there be countless variables to account for? Or does the vacuum of space eliminate most of it?

I expect they do years of homework for the entire mission before the first bolt is screwed in. Random problems do crop up but might not be newsworthy? Unless something expensive gets smashed.

I saw somewhere on RUclips, that our solar system was once/is a binary one and that Saturn was the second sun (something like that).
This makes some sort of sense, when in this video, it was said that at one point in its formation, Saturn was brighter than the sun.
Thanks for this upload, I enjoyed it.

The lowest mass star in the universe are brown dwarves. They are 18 to 80 time the mass of Jupiter whice is more massive than Saturn. So for a gas giant to be a "failed star" it would need to be at least 18 times the mass of Jupiter. Hope that helps, have a great day!

    • @malphadour

Errrr no. Jupiter is still no where near enough to create fusion, never mind saturn. Find something about brown dwarfs - this will tell you more.
