  • Prepare for an adrenaline-packed kiteboarding experience as we finally hit the jackpot at the Squamish Season Opener 2024! After numerous attempts thwarted by bad winds and empty sessions, we scored big time on May 10th with perfect thermal conditions.
Our adventure began with eager anticipation as we launched from the end of spit road. The winds were strong, the tide was low, and the excitement was off the charts. Matt kicked things off, hyping up the 25-knot southerly winds that promised to send us soaring.
Loren was next, emerging from the water to report on the expanding sandbars and the pumping winds. With wind speeds climbing into the high twenties, we knew we were in for a treat.
Navigating through the river, we faced gusty winds, logs, and roots-an obstacle course only the pros could handle. Reaching spit island, we found the wind was even better than expected. I launched into a massive boogie and reveled in the perfect conditions.
The sandbar turned into our playground. I entertained the crew with a big boogie, a late backroll, and a huge kiteloop, all while Loren couldn't stop laughing at my epic wipeouts. Andrey took it to the next level with a huge one-footer and a near-miss boardoff crash that had everyone on edge.
Then it was Jack's turn. Despite a funny fall and a runaway board, he nailed some impressive boardoffs and had everyone cheering. As the wind picked up even more, Loren and Jack went huge-Jack with his crazy inverted boardoffs and Loren with a massive megaloop and double backroll kiteloop.
The action reached its peak with Loren’s massive inverted frontroll contraloop, aka the boogie contra. The stoke was real!
As the wind grew fickle, we joined legendary kiters Coach Willarz and Antoine from Squamish Watersports School. Despite the tricky conditions, they sent it hard, with Willarz's signature double backroll handdrags and Antoine's flawless freestyle moves.
Our session ended with a muddy, sketchy swim back, our legs sinking to the hips in places where the old road used to be. It was tough, but the thrill of the ride made it all worthwhile. This was, without a doubt, one of the most amazing season openers ever. We’re super stoked to keep kiting with the homiez and send it even harder next time!
Stay tuned for more epic sessions and unforgettable rides. Till the next one, homiez! 🌊💨🏄‍♂️

@@Kitehomiez can’t wait - it feels so wicked in the mid-air once the kite pulls in the “wrong” direction :D

@@Kitehomiez Seriously. The timing is so tough for me. I had my wildest crashes pulling that loop too early, especially in a gust when I go over 8m

Are these guys considered "good"? They kept losing their footing on the boards and flinging them around while flying. They must have been learning, like 2nd or 3rd day into the sport. :)

Yeah - definitely time to get back to basics :P
This hurts in cold glacier water - so worth the investment with Squamish Waterspors :P
