A firmware was added to add banks for plugins. It also had a firmware update for midi-control (you can now map everything to the faders or another button). The 1 fader one, isn't only a daw controller, it's an audio interface. It is awesome if you are alone, and you want to record a live instrument: just take it to the place your instrument is placed. Arm, record, stop, listen, not happy, just return to marker and record again without getting up.
Thats great! When this video was made that was not the case. I went and purchased the 32sc console from presonus instead dude to the extra control and the added avb expansion but this is a amazing controller.
I assume I can assign any button to an action in Reaper? Like on the single fader model, I assigned the WRITE button to render the project. Can the 8 work the same?
I usually just record my own band but would typically use 10 to 12 channels in a typical mix/recording. I'm an old school producer from the analog world and I'm used to mixing down an a desk. If I understand this product correctly, I could mix down in that fashion from my daw but using the faders. Wouldn't I need the 16 channel version in order to mix down that way and accomodate all my channels that I'm using?
@@officialWWM what interface do you currently own? I really liked this unit but after using it i really wanted the workflow in a interface and bought the studiolive 32sc because it combined with my 24r. But if you want a channel interface that can be expanded to 32 channels and have the same control as a faderport 16 i would look onto the series 3 original 16 channel consoles
In the DAW my current setup is pretty basic. I use a Soundcraft UI24 digital mixer which allows 24 simultaneous channels of recording. I do my editing/mixing in Reaper. The Soundcraft is great because it can also do multitrack recording to a USB stick and I can simply drag and drop the files into Reaper. I'm thinking a Studiolive setup may be the best for me but I was just looking for a daw controller as a cheaper alternative and to allow me to use what I already have.
The isostation 24c is amazing for anyone who does not need plugin control its a interface and a daw controller. for my uses I ended up buying a studiolive 32sc and combined it with me 24r and love it but the isotation is amazing for a portable rig
@@IntheDAW Now I understand. I mostly track my bass and guitar and play with samples from maschine. The iostation 24c should have had 4 outputs(monitors and main) . It would have been perfect. I mean, who here does not own at least two 2x2 digital interfaces. On well
Just curious if I can do this. I have three tracks, one for omnisphere, one for swams sax, and one with swams violin. I have one Roli Seaboard. What pad controller device do I need to purchase to change tracks in a live performance between the roli keyboard and my laptop using Studio One 3 without touching the laptop. I have purchased No Maschine Mk 2 but am not sure I can designate 3 pads from Maschine 2 to the 3 tracks on Studio One 3. I just want to have pads from a midi instrument like roli keyboard to interchange tracks when in a live setting. Would Faderport 8 do this?
You should be able to use machine to do this. The faderport has perfect integration but a machine does have control since it was integrated better inside of studio one with one of the latest updates
I have Studio One V5 Pro. I'm only looking to record an accustic drum kit. Will this take the place of a Focusrite 18i20?, or can they work together???? Does it have 8 XLR ins? Will a template show up, and ready to record with this? I have a million more ?'s, amd do not trust the "pro audio " people at GC. This vid is almost over, and i really don't know what tbis does???
Hi! in the beginning I say its a daw controller. That means it has no preamps. Sorry for not being more descriptive in the video . near the end i say I would personally go for the studiolive series 3 console with faders since it can be upgraded to have 32 input channels and do daw control. Thats actually what I ended up doing. I sent this back and bought a series 3 studiolive 32sc and connected it to my 24r via a cat 5 cable and now I have a 32 channel xlr input console with daw control.
@@IntheDAW The 32 sounds amazing, but like I was saying, I just need something that will make Studio One easier for a newb to record an acoustic drum kit. At most, I’ll only be using 6, or 7 XLR’s. Yeah, I heard you say that at the very end, just as I hit send. I had bought the Tascam Model 24 in late 18. Tascam was misleading about the 24 being a DAW control, so I’m done with them. Anyway, for recording drum tracks, would the Faderport 8 set me up with a template ready to record 8 tracks? Would the Focusrite still serve a purpose? I got a little confused. Is the Faderport an interface. As you already know I’m a brand “newb”
Oh okay. if you just need to control studio one. The faderport 8 is a great option and you can easily make templates for your sessions with it incorporated. If you only need a 1 fader control unit tho you should look at the new isostation 24c its a 2 channel interface that has a 1 channel fader port built in.
@@IntheDAW Cool. I’m going to have to do a bit more reading, and watch some more videos on it, but it seems like this would be super helpful. One last ? Does this have 8 XLR inputs?
In the DAW You bought the console? wow. I dont know much about presonus except for the faderports that I have been drooling over for the past several months. What’s the name of your console?
They make so much stuff! I have videos on the channel strip. And all my audio was recorded through the rack console but now i use the rack console with my 16 channel console and get 32 channels total with it. The faders are the same as on the faderport but its a console with a miltitrack usb recorder and miltitrack sd card recorder.
On a practical level, for tracking and composing, the single fader Faderport is better in my opinion - you click on a channel and you know that is the one the Faderport is referring to - no confusion as to which fader is which. The Faderport 8 and 16 are just too big and would lead to confusion - so I disagree - the Faderport single fader is perfect for most people - unless you are a remixer or sound mixer you don't need anything more.
I am coming at this from the view of a full time mixing and recording engineer who deals with bands on a almost daily basis. but you are right the 1 channel is all you need unless you want the style of workflow as I do. but the 8 and 16 also can control plugins so it makes plugin automation so much fun. its kinda a situation where they are all really good but one is meant for a small portable setup and the others are for people who deal with mixing and recording full bands.
@@IntheDAW Well, you can still do plugin automation. It's literally touch the knob (or move the mouse to it with builtin plugins), Option+M, fader mapped to the parameter. Edit: You can also save the mapping so it applies to all instances of the plugin while it is open. I have mapped 8 knobs in my MIDI keyboard to 4 bands of Pro EQ and they work each time I put a Pro EQ on a track, then if I switch to Waves CLA-76, it was also mapped previously so all the knobs get mapped automatically as well. You can do that with any MIDI device and have "plugin automation"

Hello there, is the Faderport now able to control more than 8 parameters of a plugin?
Hello yes As of Studio One version 4.5.5, banking of plugin parameters is possible with the FaderPort 8 and FaderPort 16.
Great tutorial and review bro! Subscribed😊
Thanks for this! Blessings
I'm glad you found it useful. Keep in mind the new updates have added a ton of new features if you use studio one.

Yes sir you can and it works exactly the same as the single channel just more functions
@@IntheDAW nice, I figured that was the case. Now to check on Reverb.
