twilight has a good relationship with her parents. I'd imagine applejack's parents were good until you know what. Rarity we haven't seen enough to be sure, same with Pinkie Pie. fluttershy has a good relationship with her parents, it's her brother that's the problem.

My assumption for this episode was that the parents would have bitter feelings towards each other because of their kids (sunburst left starlight behind; starlight drifted apart from him). That would have been really interesting and complex, but this is good too.
Aside from The Cutie Re-Mark scenes with Sunburst's parents in the background, this is the first episode where their parents have been brought up. There's been no mention of Starlight's mum nor what happened to Sunburst's dad at all.
I thought Starlight was just exaggerating when she said her dad still treated her like a filly, but he actually DID treat her like a filly! I'm still not sure why i found it so funny, but i laughed so hard when pops tied that blanket on her head, and then at that "silly filly" line. I felt bad laughing at poor Starlight so hard, but THAT was just too funny to me
Fluttershy, Twilight, and Pinkie seem to have good relationships with their parents. And I’m sure AJ was close to her parents when they were still alive.

Since that one episode when Sunburst was ignoring Starlight for the whole episode and hanging out with all of her friends and not her and he didn't even apologize at the end at all

Sunburst went straight to Celestia’s school on the desires of her future-clinging mother, while Starlight never got over that separation because her past-clinging father didn’t set much of a good example. Besides, I think embarrassing parents are something most of us can relate to.
