So I'm not crazy for thinking he's on crack for thinking he isn't good. The man made Pop, Tech 0, Buddy in a Box, and Mini Delirium, some of the most unique items in all of BoI, and he says he's not an expert??? This is like saying Harper Lee isn't a fantastic writer because she only published one book (To Kill a Mockingbird)
it's definitely a mixed bag those in the middle lane are fine enough items those who aren't can go fuck themselves. buddy in a box should also take the suggestion if it was actually relevant.
As a Warly main all i can say is I love pretty much all of this, I cant wait to force-feed my friends *literal glass* ! The animal perks really open up a different food niche than other characters already fill, and also makes gathering these rarer ingredients much easier. Turning the Grinding Mill into a supportive artillery cannon is also so weird and wacky, yet fitting for Warly and DST. The only thing missing if you ask me is some fishing related perks, the man was in the navy, worked on a trawler and debuted in Shipwrecked after all.
I love the idea of letting Warly milk volt goats. There's only 3 dairy sources in the game: one is a 1/50 drop, one requires you to kill a boss and then there's the usual way of getting goat milk that you explained. Webber can finally get his ice cream without having to electrocute goats.
"Give me a sec, this needs to simmer" "Not now! I've got some hot sauce to hot box!" "Jeez, you're sounding like meemaw!" "Hey! hold on, and hold on the rosemary!"
He already feeds them Nightmare pies, the bones of their fallen comrades, and worst of all, froggy French cuisine! Adding literal glass or ancient concrete to that list isn't even that much of a stretch at this point.
for both of the alignment crock pot perks you should allow warly to have one crockpot that follows you at all times with these abilities, like an end table
YOU WERE THE ONE WHO MADE THESE ITEMS??? Damn man, I didn’t know my favourite dst RUclipsr has made a permanent impact on my favourite game, especially tech zero, 7 seals and buddy in a box are such fun ideas I was genuinely impressed with their creativity, good job man
I Love You Egg is a rather clumsily executed perk. Having a server wide effect, just because one guy with the right perk is online is a bit weird in a non-cooperative server. Why does the Wilson hermit who lives all the way on the other side of the map get to benefit from my perk? It also adds a certain other bit of weirdness in the case of multiple Warly players. If two warlys both pick the Egg perk, does the effect stack? And if not, it becomes unfair that one Warly has to sacrifice an insight point on egg farming, while the other can pick something more powerful and still reap the eggy benefits. I suggest, instead, that there is a chance (between 25 and 50 percent) that feeding meat to a bird makes it lay two eggs instead of one. --- The Shadow and Lunar spices giving the eater Alignment also seems a bit too OP in a way, due to stacking alignment buffs. It may be better if the spices added a few points of Planar Damage to attacks, but otherwise kept the Shadow Tentacle and Lunar Burst powers. The upgraded crockpots are cool though, but I feel like the option to add Aligned crockpot recipes was tragically overlooked. Maybe a meal cooked with Pure Horror or Brilliance will give extra protection against the opposite alignment, so the Shadow dish (Pure Horror + 2 vegetables + no meat = Umbratatouille) would protect you against Lunar enemies, while the Lunar dish (Pure Brilliance + 2 meat + no vegetables = Celesteak Dinner) would protect against Shadow enemies. A bit backwards, sure, but more useful to the user to safeguard against your weakness than agains something you already resist. --- Also, not related to skill trees, or this video TBH, but I think they should add Cheese to DST. When Volt Milk rots, it would instead turn into Spoilt Milk instead of Rot (similar to how Eggs turn into Rotten Eggs). You then put the Spoilt Milk on a drying rack, and then it turns into Cheese. It could be used to create Pizza, Mozerella Sticks, Cheesecake, Cheese Fondue, and more. You could even turn it into a spice, Grated Parmesan. It could extend the effects of food with side effects, like the temperature effects of Aspargazpacho and Dragon Chili Salad, or the electric effect of Volt Goat Chaud Froid.
I really think Warly has great potential to make this game in different perspective. I mean killing and fighting are intense and fun, but sometimes I just wanna sit down and chill and cook. At this point, I think we have enough fighting and farming mechanisms. It’s time to look at cooking mechanisms. In this case, durian is a great thing to look at. People overlook warly and durian. Maybe he can grind it and use as repellent or something. I don’t want more dish but I want more cooking mechanisms if you know I mean. Put milk on drying rack to turn into cheese is such a good example.
Being able to get milk easier feels like the the skill that is most likely to be added, but I love the idea of the assault shaker. It's similar to how willow can get a damage bonus for attacking enemies that are on fire, but everyone can benefit from these with little risk. Being able to inflict statuses is something DST doesn't do very often, and I hope that Klei can find implement mechanics like it to spice up gameplay, and Warly seems like a good pick. The only thing I might change is the honey effect being slowing them down instead of life steal, as I feel that encroaches on Wigfirid's songs a bit too much.
will applaud the idea of seasonings being used more offensively in a creative way, although my biggest issues are probably the egg perk and the alignment spices. Most who play warly and are looking forward to the skill tree are hoping for unique applications that focus on what warly himself can do, ideally something large enough that actually impacts warly's gameplay and isn't just another buff for someone else to use better. As a warly main (used to be wx), I don't mind that other people can use the buffs warly provides, i'm glad others can enjoy that warly brings something to the table. That said, I believe it would be ideal if warly's skill tree affected him more than others, it's important for game design to have reasons to continue playing a character beyond just using one part of them, hopefully they expand on that idea. I thank you for bringing attention to my favorite character, lets see if in the "Rhymes with klei" stream coming tomorrow reveals anything about the next skill tree's! P.s. love the videos my man, especially the kind that are more thought provoking like gameplay ideas and character lore implications, Keep it up my good man!
I mostly just hope they add a bunch of stuff that makes him less of a swap character. It's kinda insulting some people just play him to swap on, bundle a bunch of buff foods, and swap out.
@@loveluclinssadly, thats simply because of the buffs he gives to others are buffs that applies after the food he cooks are eaten, unlike say, Wigfrid, which requires her to be there. this skill tree included plenty of skills which are only in effect if he is actively being played. one skill he most certainly has be there to affect combat situations in this skill tree would be his assault shaker which he can use to amplify damage even more
The aromas is such a genius idea for a niche reason to play Warly. If Willow’s fireball is a cheaper star caller staff then this is like a cheaper bee queen crown. I adore your ideas! Your pepper grinder idea is awesome, it reminds me of an old idea I had to let Warly be able to Spice his Ham Bat and Bat Bat to get exclusive buffs when using them
7:23 i think a pretty simple solution to this design oversight would be to make his head chef tree include a perk that buffs himself when a character other than warly eats food off his crockpots. Sort of split the buffs between his Head Chef and Gourmand trees. This will also help balance warly and stop him from being over tuned since he'll need to use teamwork to get the most out of his self buffs, so in solo play he wont be as powerful as he would be in team play, even excluding the buffs the other players get If this perk needs to replace one of the 26, make it replace Salted Pockets
A nice upgrade for the "Serves Up!" skill would be that every food eaten straight from a crock pot would be eaten as fast as a non-meat dish so you can quickly eat a pierogi or something like that while fighting a boss without getting hit
Loved the skill tree concept. I know numbers can make or break this things and the plan was creative ideas rather than "just buffs" but its pretty obvious that making Warly GIGA buff with "Taste Sensation" would be a no brainer. Either way, I think that an easy fix to this would be to make Warly unable to eat when his hunger is higher than 90% or 85%. This would also benefit his "Fresh Meal" skills and force him to plan fights around his stomach or buff his team.
I think in practice that would just be annoying for Warly in day to day playing. You can’t heal health or sanity for a few minutes because you accidentally got hit right after filling up on meaty stew. He’d just rely on sleeping and salves/poultice for reliable heals like wormwood. Also quite a few strong healing food like Moqueca give ‘too much’ hunger so it would be functionally useless for Warly himself to eat it
I think it would cool if Warly could gain a new crockpot recipe that can be fed to beefalo that boosts their perk. Speed Beefalo can outrun range attacks like from Mactusks and Clockwork Bishops. Hungry Beefalo drain hunger slower. War Beefalo can sometimes catch an enemy off-balance (like maybe 5% chance to stun the enemy for a second or two). Generalist Beefalo gain temporary HP that goes down before their actual health goes down.
I do think warly is a very underrated character even tho he's not my main. So an insight tree like this would finally make people appreciate him more :) Also it was fun to listen to the video while baking lol
I absolutely love your ideas for Warly's skill tree. I really like his design, story and personality so I try playing him when I can. Unfortunately I'm kinda bad at the game still so playing him is a bit difficult for me. I'd play him every time if that's the skill tree he ends up receiving.
I had an idea for a perk that grants a new craftable item called "Carving Knife", an expensive but very-low-damage weapon (comparable to an axe or pickaxe) that would guarantee rare drops from enemies. Basically, if you killed a Voltgoat dealing 100% of the damage using the Carving Knife, it would _always_ drop a horn; Mactusk would always drop a tusk; pigs would always drop a pigskin; spiders would always drop silk; etc... As a tier-two knife, the Carving Knives could be used on bosses, so you'd be able to obtain additional boss resources rather than having to wait an entire in-game year for another one to spawn, (getting two deerclops eyes for eyebrellas before the first spring, for instance). Again, the idea is that it makes combat significantly harder so this perk wouldn't be able to be abused by newer players to "skip" the skill progression of the game, but it would allow experienced players to bypass some of the repetitive grinding. And it fits in nicely with Warly's support theme (and fits perfectly into you butcher tree). Just a thought. Anyways, awesome list you made. I'd be surprised if Klei doesn't incorporate at least some of your ideas.
I like to come up with my own skill trees for characters who don't have them. It was especially interesting to create a Wonkey skill tree (without irony).
I LOVE IT! The assaut shaker and the whole animal husbandry trees are my favourite, it'd be an amazing skill tree if it was real. Milking voltgoats is a good idea, you're a genious! Also, the alignment is pretty good, i was expecting something more from the "mutated cooking" though
I’d like to imagine the Moon Glass and Thulecite seasonings taste like Sugar Crystals and those little crunchy cinnamon bits on Coffee Cake respectively
This is sick ideas, I love the critter related tab, because it's simply and it would be really usefull. The graphic part of this video is really cool too!
some perk ideas i liked are some that amplify the ammount of food warly can gather from other sources (as in one extra berry from bushes, one extra crop from gardens, one extra honey, etc) another perk i really found interesting is making warly produce two dishes from cooking once in the portable crockpot, so you can make food for yourself and share the rest with your friend, that way you can maximize the ammount of food you have to get constantly, the ammount of storage you have to haul as warly, and also help out in the support side, even if double produce is quite OP
About the bird eggs one , Maybe make it so once day warly can interact with a cage to make a bird drop an egg for free , ooooor make the effect only work when he is next to a cage so that if he spends 100% of the day close to the cage (5~ tile rang might be good?) it would drop it at the start of the day (ie if he stood next to it at the start of the day it would drop an egg at the start of the second day/end of the first day) you should still make it have diminishing returns if you go with the second option (maybe give it wortox logic ? Maybe a bit weaker but still same ish numbers)
I think it'd be a fun detail if a survivor got a slightly increased sanity gain from the aroma if the food that's cooking is their favorite. Loved the vid, hope to see more
casually dropping that you made the original steam workshop pages for some of the most iconic isaac items is crazy but seriously i love the husbandry branch, its a really cool concept. it legitimately just seems like something warly picked up during his time in the constant.
I actually love the ideas you presented here! The assalt shaker specially is extremely handy and opens lots of new character interaction opportunities, not so sure about the butchering tough, just doens't seem terribly useful in the end of the day, i'd like to suggest the idea warly being able to "mince" certain ingredients, minced ingredients have only half of the original's values (ex, minced monster meat only has one quarter monster and one quarter meat as opposing to half, making it so you can make more different foods with more limited ingredients, also love what you did for the shadow and lunar options for warly,
Huh. The Assault Shaker was a pretty great idea. Wish I had that on my suggestion I posted. Weaponized spices! And it's interesting to see we both had about the same idea for the lunar crock pot, only mine was 25% chance of double output instead of no spoiling. I like your idea better, though.
Seasoning ideas Garnish: Gain more sanity after eating food. Cost: 3 petals Shadow Salt: Get the ability to teleport for a little bit. Cost: 3 Nightmare fuel
Most of your ideas i love. Especially the salt shaker. I would love a way to debuff creatures as well as buffing myself and teammates. The aroma ideas are also very interesting but want to point out that most comments i see from warly players already use the crockpot actively. Just went to the forest to chop it all down? I'll just start a turkey dinner for a post lumber snack. Also have you set up a meal in the middle of a flight? I have, kinda sucks but i find it funny. Not complaining about mid flight cooking just making a point. My main complaint though is 2 things. First encouraging people to eat from the portable. I love helping and feeding my team mates. I'm mostly playing solo these days but when I'm in a public it is frustrating people taking the food i made for myself. If you want something just ask. Other characters don't need a crock pot but Warly does. I will gladly make you food. I love making food for people here and irl but i feel these kind of perks reward stealing and putting Warly on permanent kitchen duty in the pursuit of optimization. The second is more of a general idea of game design. I have ideas why klei took out Warly's food bonus for dst but i don't know for sure. They had a reason though so let that be. If they took it out, trust that it wasn't a mistake and it is a calculated decision. It's probably not coming back. Same goes for the no spoil crock pot. They took it out, they could change their mind but it's probably a well thought out decision so that's the way they want it. Great video as usually. Hope i made my case politely. Also fishing perks. I see some people mentioning it and i totally agree. I don't want warly to have too many combat perks but how about a "fish sword"😂. A hambat type weapon.
He should have a skill the increases the potency of all food he eats at the cost of making his diminishing returns from eating the same meal more punishing.
i like the idea of getting more meat per kill and milking goats its perfect i cant see my self cooking food in the middle of a boss fight tho i feel the dps wold even out from just being out of the fight making food i would love to see more dishes because thats supposed to be warlys main upside the moon crockpot is great and would be perfect i think the shadow one should be that it cooks food extreamly quickly
This is long comment but i think its worth reading :* I was thinking about adding more food but it would be food focused on ''skill full eating'' for example you could have dish wich would have very long eating animatiom lets say 10 seconds when you would eat this food you will tank 100 precent of damage you will not be able to stop animation of eatning by any way eaven enemies will not interrupt you when you would finsh eating all damage you rexived would be multiplied and dealt to your oponent ( you cant spam it) or something with short eating animation but if you get hit while eating yoy get speed boost (you also cant spam it) or food that you can eat only next to enemy and it have nifinite eating animation but yoy can stop it at any given time if you stop it under 2 seconds you get damage penalty for 30 second but when above 2 second you get 10 precent bonus damage for every second up to 50 precent it can stack with other meals also i see that every survivor execpt fir wilson(but he dosent count ) got some form of aoe damage so i think spice that makes part of your damage aoe would be nice
a possible way they could approach the swap problem thing with food seasonings could be to (slightly(?)) boost the buffs; if both warly and at least one other survivor not only have the effect active, but are in relatively close proximity to each other, passively encouraging them to share and work together in theory
You made Pop! And tech 0? Personal favorites, you absolutely cooked, no wonder Edmund put them in the game. Though now that I think about it... If you also made lil' delirium you've probably robbed me of a couple sacred hearts and brimstones by now too. Eh, I guess it balances out. (jokes aside, great job)
idk if these count as a Warly perk or just a dst change in general but: -a perk that decreses the spoiling penalty when combining fresh ingredients with more spoiled ingredients -a perk that increases the amount of ingredients per inventory (for example instead of just 40 stone fruit per inventory ut could be 60 or 80) -a perk that uses the recepie book to automatically choose a dish in a crockpot, basically that one mod but vanilla
Must say, the ideas in this video are top tier, my only complaint is not giving a shout out to Uncompromising Mod for making Warly a butcher with exact same buff of getting double the drops from inventory murder, this mod needs as much publicity as it can get so would be much appreciated if you mention its ideas in the future!
Absolutely love this. I don't think I have any problems with these skills whatsoever. Warly himself is a different story though. I still stand by my earlier wording in a previous video of how I think his food memory shouldn't have a cooldown for when you have to wait to eat another dish. Like if you can just stave off eating a meatball for 3 days you can eat it again even without having eaten more foods to get the full benefits back. Like a meatball and then 2 meaty stews would normally make the next meatball you eat have reduced stats because it was too soon. I fully think that Warly should only be able to eat up to 3 of a dish period and then have to eat another 15 dishes (of a few or dozen kinds to reset his memory.) So after eating 3 meatballs you'd then have to eat a combination of 3 meaty stew, rabbit stew, fist full o jam, etc up to 15 dishes eaten to reset meatballs. Also, once he's eaten his 3 within a quick succession, he straight up REFUSES to eat any more. Like how Wigfrid will swat her hands away if you try to eat anything but meat or 'goodies', Warly will do the same with a line like "I'd rather die then eat THAT again.", because his refined palette would straight up prevent him from consuming too many things too quickly, even if it kills him. As it stands now, he can scarf down like 5 meatballs from 0 hunger and top himself up, including the diminishing returns on his food. I say get rid of the diminishing returns but have him just straight up refuse to eat once he's reached his limit. Or keep the diminishing returns, but make them less impactful. Diminishing returns now: First eat 0%, 10%, 20%, 35%, 50%, 75%. Refreshes after 2 days of not consuming food. Diminishing returns update: First eat 0%, 10%, 15%. Refreshes after 3 days, REFUSES to eat the same meal anymore after 3 consumption's until he's eaten 15 other meals that aren't the one locked out. This means you have to keep a menu of several dishes on hand and rotate through them pretty frequently, making farms a must have for Warly players either through crops or meats, berries, and milk. Though given his other perks in mind like the ability to harvest extra meat and get milk for basically free from goats, I think decreasing the overall consecutive eating penalty and making him straight up refuse food after too many times would balance out with his ability to get food much easier. With milk perk and extra harvest + Harvest damage on his side, meat heavy dishes like meaty stew or honey ham are going to be coming out of his ears and the milk opens up a variety of usually locked dishes due to the scarcity of dairy items like butter or milky whites within the base game world. This would open up frequent ice cream, his crepes, and the milkmade hat. Maybe he could also add more base dairy recipes to the game like Pancakes if you use milk instead of butter for a waffle recipe. Less beneficial, but far easier to obtain with a Warly. Or perhaps Warly could also make cakes if a new workstation was added to the game like the millstone from the Gorge event. You harvest corn and you can grind it into corn flour to make breads or cakes, then make some of the more baked goods require corn flour to make like the aforementioned Waffles and Pancakes.
Grindstone can make Corn Flour, Sea Salt (Lets players season their dishes like Warly but it only slows spoilage, not gives a buff.), Cheese refined from Milk (or make milk spoil INTO cheese :D), and maybe even spot spice if the cherry grove biome is added. With Corn Flour you could make: Pizza, Waffles, Pancakes, Pumpkin Cookies, Bread, Pizza, Burgers, Cake, maybe give Warly an exclusive "pumpkin pie" recipe among his others that he makes instead of cookies, giving Warly his own unique dish at no new recipes required. Pizza: Corn Flour, Tomato, Electric Milk (or cheese), and a piece of large meat (sausage/pepperoni). Waffles: Same recipe but make the optional 'filler' item a must have for Flour. You can use this same recipe but replace butter for milk to get pancakes instead, which doesn't heal as much because it lacks the butter, which normally heals 40 on its own. Bread: 3 straight up Flour + 1 Milk Burgers/Sliders depending on meat size: 1 Flour, 1 Tomato, 1 Cheese, 1Large/Small meat. Cake: 2 Flour, 1 Milk, 1 Butter. Makes a pretty poor hunger food for like 15-20 points, but heals a whopping 100 Health and 50 Sanity at the cost of a long cook time of 1;00 to 1;20. Pumpkin Cookies/Pie: Same recipes as before, but swap the optional filler for Flour. If Warly makes this recipe, it turns instead to Pumpkin Pie and has better stats than the cookies if a normal player had cooked the dish.
Well made skill tree and video, i can definitely see myself maxxing the animal husbandry (except the egg) and getting the salt shaker weapon as well as shadow alignment to be a very offensive battle Warly Putting the WAR in Warly
Added Ideas that I'm developing AS I'm watching the video: -Aromas: this effect lasts some seconds after the meal has completed cooking -Pungent Aromas: this effect last even more seconds after the meal has completed cooking Reason: Warly already cooks faster, so a perk that lasts WHILE cooking gets punished and would benefit from slower cooking; or, as a remedy, the ideas above. -Flavour Granules: Has a chance to make the targeted enemy drop its meat (and or vegies) spiced up with the current ammo spice if killed while effects take place Reason: This is a kinda cool way to get spiced normal foods (no crockpots) that can either help your friends eat the raw ingredients and get spiced up, or make the spiced dishes directly on the crockpot with no need of using the spicer if you use at least 50% of your ingredients seasoned (conflicting spices will fight for 50%, 33% or 25% chances each) Thats it, I think the other perks are pretty good.
These ideas sound so awesome, Assault Shaker is such a funky concept but it's so good i need this (or maybe i don't because i don't play Warly, too bad at DST to try a good character)
how about a spice that increases speed with like uh onion for example and a ice spice to slow the spoilage of food on the go and I do love the aroma idea
I Have An Idea-A, New Section To His Skill Tree-[just thought of it.] “WILD Chef.” [“Survive With A Full Stomach.”] Wild Chef Overall Is Supposed To Improve The Experience Of Gathering/Foraging For Warly, such as his first 2 skill’s. [“Precise Picking’s 1.”] Gathering Resources From Juicy Berry Bushes, Beauty Berries, Carrot’s, Flower’s, Birchnut’s, and mushroom’s Will occasionally Give More Resources. This Is Supposed To Be Combined With The Butcher Skill’s For More Effective Gathering And Less Effort, Whilst Also Making Warly Alot More Self-Sustainable, As Resources For Cooking Will Be A BREEZE, Allowing Warly To Focus On Other Objectives Rather Then Gathering. (I’m Not A Warly Addict But I’ve Played Him.) However, This Is Alot Less Effective During Winter Season. [“Precise Picking’s 2.”] Farming Crop’s Will Occasionally Drop More Product And Seed’s. This Is Supposed To VASTLY Increase Warly Food Production, As Most Of His Meal’s Require The Need To Farm. [Now Onto The Next `Line`, Not Associated With Picking’s.] [“Everlasting Meal.”] [“Don’t Be A HOG! Share Some!”] Food’s Cooked In Warly’s Crockpot Will Leave Behind `Soup’s/juice’s,` Soup’s Offer Halved Stat’s Of The Cooked Meal, And Can Be Consumed 2 Times Before Vanishing. Survivor’s Can Also Drink From His Soup. This is GREAT for warly’s who want to be a team player, as Good/High Stat Meal’s Can Still Offer A Large Portion Of Health, Hunger, And Santiy, for more player’s. Which, In Fight’s, COULD prove useful (Dragon Fly, Basically Any Boss That Is Distracted By Another Player.), This Also Play’s Well With Aroma And The DARK forces. And The Last Two I Thought Of.. [“Dire Need’s Met Precisely 1.” Normal Food’s In Warly’s Crockpot Will Get Buffed Up To 25% Depending On How Low Warly/Survivor’s Stat’s Are, only to their need’s. Low Health (You Decide, Of Course) Will Provide ATLEAST 5-20 Health No Matter What Dish. Low Hunger (You Decide How Low.) Will Provide ATLEAST 10-35 Hunger No Matter What Dish. Low Sanity (You Decide How Low.) Will Provide ATLEAST 15-30 Sanity No Matter What Dish. [“Dire Need’s Met Precisely 2.”] Warly Will Gain Regeneration (The Duration Of This Regeneration Depend’s On How Low, You Decide) Of Any Low Stat Up To 20 Point’s. All I Really Thought Of, Your Idea’s?
I love speculative ideas for the characters of don’t starve and I like the ideas you presented. Im very interested in what you have planned for Walter since it would make him more than the ranged character with Chester. Also I have an idea for a challenge if you are interested, please try to survive a year without clothing items (or any item that provides insulation/wetness protection) with the only exception being the miners hat and walking cane (and lazy explorer)
I also have an idea for a perk and I would like to know what you think. Proud Chef. When someone eats one of Warley’s meals near him, he also gains the effects of the dish. Probably wouldn’t work but I thought it was a neat idea.
Loved the Shadow Crookpot but the Lunar one is weird. Maybe, instead of one focusing in Combat and the other in Cooking a Preservation we could make them both Battle focus but in Attack and Defense: The Shadow Crookpot stays the same with the focus of luring enemys to it for the damage but making it a dangerous place for playes to stay near Lunar Crookpot could be the polar opposite focusing in making a safe/rest place during combat pauses. Something like "10 sec after a dish finished being cooked, it gets consume by the pot and it creates a zone where small and medium mobs get scared (like Maxwell trap) and all non player creaturs get slowed down (the zone effect and duration depend on the dish consumed and it stats)
8:40 i think it would make more sense to have ingredients spoil slower actually, because that would nicely complement the battle crock pot idea that you would need ingredients specifically for. i dont really like how you just get more from seasonings in that tree either, i would personally like to see being able to mix the spices into brand new effects that are still similar to what we have in the base thing. for instance, mixing salt with honey would increase sanity gained instead of health, or pepper and salt would give you wigfrid-like health on hit effect, and so on. would give warly more unique effects for himself instead of better and longer versions, going for versitality. i really like the freakin assault shaker, giving a whole definition to "peppering" your enemies, idc if it would be under or overpowered, i like it a lot, possibly just for the pun alone. butchering perks are very nice additions, getting milk from goats too. hunting can get annoying with you having to drop down the health of the animal down every time, spiders in early game can be annoying when they dont drop meat when you want them to, and electric goats are so specific for such a specific item, i never bothered with them myself ever, so thats cool the idea to make other mobs aligned is very interesting and could be very useful for a support character with a support weapon, upgradeable crock pots are amazing too, although idk if having the crock pot always produce max freshness food isnt too much, i think just not having it spoil or only giving it a small freshness boost would be enough anything i didnt mention i find nice, just dont have anything interesting to say about. i just think they're neat. overall, as a person who really likes this character but doesnt quite play him becaue he's a bit too niche, i think the character tree idea you presented is amazing and i hope that klei will decide to give him one soon, since he seems to need a bit of a help to get more relevant (i dont say he cant be super powerful, he just kinda feels a bit... stale, or something, you get me prolly)
placing food on the stage hand gives off the stats overtime slowly roting the food in an aroma so you could put a pierogi and then have some healing over time for your allies
pretty interesting! My critique are the head chef branch is lack luster- making there no choice in perk selection. The best trees make you spend your points very wisely and lead to many different builds, but Id forsee players ignoring head chef and maxing the other two branches. That said, I like the other two branches! The fast eating perk particularly is thinking way outside the box and is a really valuable one. Cool!
I am very tempted to try and make these ideas into an actual mod to see how fun they are in action. They seem like really good ideas and I could absolutely see myself returning to being a Warly main or at least making them a top pick of mine with these ideas implemented.
Maybe one or multiple of Warly's Butcher perks could also include a slightly faster killing time towards animals in his inventory, kind of like Woodie with his resource speed gains?
I have had this idea for a while now of letting warly season the ham bat. Chili flakes buff the damage to that of a dark sword, honey crystals give a speed boost similar to a thulecite club or even walking cane, salt makes it last much longer, or removes the damage scaling based on freshness, and garlic gives 50% damage reduction, similar to the two shields.
Glass seasoning?? Phoenix Wright would love that, surely. In all seriousness, though. I loved the editing in this video! And your ideas for perks are quite interesting! So much so that I already have my own picks for which ones I would choose 😃
I can truly say that I'm Warly enjoyer, so I have some "experience" with this wacky gourmet, who would rather die from starvation than eat in a game which name is don't starve ^^ I think active cooking is interesting, particularly it makes Warly become an active buffer and with seasoning enemies, it makes him also debuffer that solves problem with his passive buffiing abilities with spices. Make there buff prolong is great QoL change and I think instead of giving them more buffs to our chef we can instead make crockpot cooking aura depending on the dish that is cooking, like providing warm instead of sanity if you cook dragonpie or cooling effect if you cook ice cream, it also encourages to actually cook variety of meal, because even with Warlies debuff it can easily be overcome by holy oppiness of 🍖🏀🏀 I think butchering is extra, of course he has some interesting view on our smaller friends.. it's creepy when he says "hello food... uh friend" to smallbird but nah.. I see him more in the milking gouts mood what is fun :D about alignments I like this idea, the dreaded crockpot for more active cooking style and I so badly want it to follow you like sussy rouse vase by his tiny legs, but what about brilliant crockpot.. I think compared to dreaded it needs more buff, it's cool that food doesn't spoil but other hand dark side can give you pot with dark tentacles and we need like more severe buff to outstand it. and at last but not list, I want to make bird in Warlies inventory act like it is in a cage like you can give him meat and vegetables and he will fill your inventory with eggs and seeds, if you don't have enough space it will fall out from you that will allow you to be a bigger variety of food far away from base >^< so yep, this is end but I have only one stupid idea, what if Wes skiltree instead of buffs that obviously is unfair because he is omnipotent, will provide debuffs, like the chance to slip on ground like on ice and frozen pods and e.t.c

Man desinged pop and tech 0 snd says he's not very good at designing
So I'm not crazy for thinking he's on crack for thinking he isn't good. The man made Pop, Tech 0, Buddy in a Box, and Mini Delirium, some of the most unique items in all of BoI, and he says he's not an expert??? Oh goodness that would actually be amazing!!

What drops 1/50 dairy?

The idea of Warly cooking food during a fight sounds really cool. I didn't think you could actually fix some of Warly's problems like this
It really means a lot to hear that. Thank you so much :)
Warly: *cooks crockpot offensively
"WARLY FOR THE LOVE OF THE MOON HELP US!!" "IT NEEDS MORE GLASS SHARDS WILSON!"
for both of the alignment crock pot perks you should allow warly to have one crockpot that follows you at all times with these abilities, like an end table
Omg, perfect idea ❤
---
The Shadow and Lunar spices giving the eater Alignment also seems a bit too OP in a way, due to stacking alignment buffs.
---
Also, not related to skill trees, or this video TBH, but I think they should add Cheese to DST.
Put milk on drying rack to turn into cheese is such a good example.
warly giving wortox a handful of those glass shavings people insulate their houses with and saying its cotton candy
This will also help balance warly and stop him from being over tuned since he'll need to use teamwork to get the most out of his self buffs, so in solo play he wont be as powerful as he would be in team play, even excluding the buffs the other players get
If this perk needs to replace one of the 26, make it replace Salted Pockets
Yes.
So true, a lot of chefs feel proud and fulfilled when people truly enjoy their food
A nice upgrade for the "Serves Up!" skill would be that every food eaten straight from a crock pot would be eaten as fast as a non-meat dish so you can quickly eat a pierogi or something like that while fighting a boss without getting hit
The “Serves Up!” Name is also cool, cause it sounds like “Surf’s Up”, because Warly originates from Shipwrecked
Big Warly wants you to eat crockpot foods. Return to berry.
you WILL eat moquecas and meaty stew.
Total fistful of jam defeat
Loved the skill tree concept. I know numbers can make or break this things and the plan was creative ideas rather than "just buffs" but its pretty obvious that making Warly GIGA buff with "Taste Sensation" would be a no brainer.
Either way, I think that an easy fix to this would be to make Warly unable to eat when his hunger is higher than 90% or 85%. This would also benefit his "Fresh Meal" skills and force him to plan fights around his stomach or buff his team.
In theory this would reward good kiting players but would prevent him from becoming a main DPS and more of a Burst damage and support.
I think in practice that would just be annoying for Warly in day to day playing. You can’t heal health or sanity for a few minutes because you accidentally got hit right after filling up on meaty stew. He’d just rely on sleeping and salves/poultice for reliable heals like wormwood. Also quite a few strong healing food like Moqueca give ‘too much’ hunger so it would be functionally useless for Warly himself to eat it
I know this isnt really that important but the little icons are soo cute
I think it would cool if Warly could gain a new crockpot recipe that can be fed to beefalo that boosts their perk.
Speed Beefalo can outrun range attacks like from Mactusks and Clockwork Bishops.
Hungry Beefalo drain hunger slower.
War Beefalo can sometimes catch an enemy off-balance (like maybe 5% chance to stun the enemy for a second or two).
Generalist Beefalo gain temporary HP that goes down before their actual health goes down.
Oh hey, i managed to catch this one just as it was uploaded! :D
EDIT: Also, the Assault Shaker is equally hilarious and creative. I love it!
I do think warly is a very underrated character even tho he's not my main. So an insight tree like this would finally make people appreciate him more :)
Also it was fun to listen to the video while baking lol
Please don't cook glass of the moon
I absolutely love your ideas for Warly's skill tree. I really like his design, story and personality so I try playing him when I can. Unfortunately I'm kinda bad at the game still so playing him is a bit difficult for me. I'd play him every time if that's the skill tree he ends up receiving.
This style of video is GREAT. Amazing job!
Warly mains will be literately cooking during fights 🔥
This is undoubtedly the highest production quality Biddobams video OF ALL TIME
OMG please, we NEED that assault shaker, that is great
You outdid yourself in this one! Got me thinking a lot about it, maybe the Assault Shaker could work as a throwing item with an AOE like the napsacks
thanks for making this, warly is criminally underlooked imo
This is sick ideas, I love the critter related tab, because it's simply and it would be really usefull. The graphic part of this video is really cool too!
some perk ideas i liked are some that amplify the ammount of food warly can gather from other sources (as in one extra berry from bushes, one extra crop from gardens, one extra honey, etc)
another perk i really found interesting is making warly produce two dishes from cooking once in the portable crockpot, so you can make food for yourself and share the rest with your friend, that way you can maximize the ammount of food you have to get constantly, the ammount of storage you have to haul as warly, and also help out in the support side, even if double produce is quite OP
I really like these ideas! I hope they do an update to cooking and food in general around the time Warly gets his skill tree.
Loved the vid, hope to see more
casually dropping that you made the original steam workshop pages for some of the most iconic isaac items is crazy
but seriously i love the husbandry branch, its a really cool concept. it legitimately just seems like something warly picked up during his time in the constant.
I love insight theory videos! Even if they're outdated eventually. ❤
Wow. These are actually so well thought out. Also, had no idea you designed some Issac items... very badass.
Just got to the assault shaker part and this makes me shed a tear
I think it might be the salt in ur eyes
As a warly main this existing make me happy

The assault shaker is such an incredible idea I love it
assault shaker is absolute genius
Also epic editing and visuals dude
A hambat type weapon.
me and the 5 other warly mains love you for this
honestly, this is really good. I could see this being added.
He should have a skill the increases the potency of all food he eats at the cost of making his diminishing returns from eating the same meal more punishing.
I love this...I can't wait to see you do ideas for other characters without skill tree
Me: sees warly making a seasoning out of moonglass
Also me: Breaking warly
man, klei really should hire you, this is an amazing idea for warlys skill tree
That's SUPER kind of you :))) Thank you so much!!
i like the idea of getting more meat per kill and milking goats its perfect i cant see my self cooking food in the middle of a boss fight tho i feel the dps wold even out from just being out of the fight making food i would love to see more dishes because thats supposed to be warlys main upside the moon crockpot is great and would be perfect i think the shadow one should be that it cooks food extreamly quickly
Unironically the best warly skilltree I've seen
This is long comment but i think its worth reading :*
I was thinking about adding more food but it would be food focused on ''skill full eating'' for example you could have dish wich would have very long eating animatiom lets say 10 seconds when you would eat this food you will tank 100 precent of damage you will not be able to stop animation of eatning by any way eaven enemies will not interrupt you when you would finsh eating all damage you rexived would be multiplied and dealt to your oponent ( you cant spam it) or something with short eating animation but if you get hit while eating yoy get speed boost (you also cant spam it) or food that you can eat only next to enemy and it have nifinite eating animation but yoy can stop it at any given time if you stop it under 2 seconds you get damage penalty for 30 second but when above 2 second you get 10 precent bonus damage for every second up to 50 precent it can stack with other meals also i see that every survivor execpt fir wilson(but he dosent count ) got some form of aoe damage so i think spice that makes part of your damage aoe would be nice
a possible way they could approach the swap problem thing with food seasonings could be to (slightly(?)) boost the buffs; if both warly and at least one other survivor not only have the effect active, but are in relatively close proximity to each other, passively encouraging them to share and work together in theory
Imagine how broken Wanda would be with her skill tree 😂
As a part-time warly main, I would destroy the constant 10 times over for some skins for his exclusive kitchenware
Yes one that looks like a grill/BBQ, slow cooker, camp stove etc
You made Pop! And tech 0? Personal favorites, you absolutely cooked, no wonder Edmund put them in the game.
Though now that I think about it... If you also made lil' delirium you've probably robbed me of a couple sacred hearts and brimstones by now too. Eh, I guess it balances out.
(jokes aside, great job)
The lunar aligned crock pot should be floating and following you, like how end tables in the game do. That would be epic.
idk if these count as a Warly perk or just a dst change in general but:
-a perk that decreses the spoiling penalty when combining fresh ingredients with more spoiled ingredients
-a perk that increases the amount of ingredients per inventory (for example instead of just 40 stone fruit per inventory ut could be 60 or 80)
-a perk that uses the recepie book to automatically choose a dish in a crockpot, basically that one mod but vanilla
Bread: 3 straight up Flour + 1 Milk
Burgers/Sliders depending on meat size: 1 Flour, 1 Tomato, 1 Cheese, 1Large/Small meat.
Well made skill tree and video, i can definitely see myself maxxing the animal husbandry (except the egg) and getting the salt shaker weapon as well as shadow alignment to be a very offensive battle Warly
Putting the WAR in Warly
Added Ideas that I'm developing AS I'm watching the video:
-Aromas: this effect lasts some seconds after the meal has completed cooking
-Pungent Aromas: this effect last even more seconds after the meal has completed cooking
Reason: Warly already cooks faster, so a perk that lasts WHILE cooking gets punished and would benefit from slower cooking; or, as a remedy, the ideas above.
-Flavour Granules: Has a chance to make the targeted enemy drop its meat (and or vegies) spiced up with the current ammo spice if killed while effects take place
Reason: This is a kinda cool way to get spiced normal foods (no crockpots) that can either help your friends eat the raw ingredients and get spiced up, or make the spiced dishes directly on the crockpot with no need of using the spicer if you use at least 50% of your ingredients seasoned (conflicting spices will fight for 50%, 33% or 25% chances each)
Thats it, I think the other perks are pretty good.
Warly with this will be like: “it costs 600 salt spices to fire this weapon, for twelve seconds.”
The Honey Crystal effect with the Assault Shaker would be great for a world w/ Wormwood and Warly
Overall I think this skill trees would be amazing. It very well thought out good job
Thank you so much :)

[“Precise Picking’s 2.”]
Farming Crop’s Will Occasionally Drop More Product And Seed’s.
This Is Supposed To VASTLY Increase Warly Food Production, As Most Of His Meal’s Require The Need To Farm.
[Now Onto The Next `Line`, Not Associated With Picking’s.]
[“Everlasting Meal.”]
[“Don’t Be A HOG! Share Some!”]
Food’s Cooked In Warly’s Crockpot Will Leave Behind `Soup’s/juice’s,` Soup’s Offer Halved Stat’s Of The Cooked Meal, And Can Be Consumed 2 Times Before Vanishing.
[“Dire Need’s Met Precisely 1.”
Normal Food’s In Warly’s Crockpot Will Get Buffed Up To 25% Depending On How Low Warly/Survivor’s Stat’s Are, only to their need’s.
[“Dire Need’s Met Precisely 2.”]
Warly Will Gain Regeneration (The Duration Of This Regeneration Depend’s On How Low, You Decide) Of Any Low Stat Up To 20 Point’s.
All I Really Thought Of, Your Idea’s?
wain wold reference, finally someone who also knows this masterpiece
Maybe, instead of one focusing in Combat and the other in Cooking a Preservation we could make them both Battle focus but in Attack and Defense:
The Shadow Crookpot stays the same with the focus of luring enemys to it for the damage but making it a dangerous place for playes to stay near
Lunar Crookpot could be the polar opposite focusing in making a safe/rest place during combat pauses. Something like "10 sec after a dish finished being cooked, it gets consume by the pot and it creates a zone where small and medium mobs get scared (like Maxwell trap) and all non player creaturs get slowed down (the zone effect and duration depend on the dish consumed and it stats)
For example: If a Mandrake Soup is placed, it creates a 3 tiles radius zone for 2min with 15-20% speed reduction.
Imagine having this Bee queen, Crab King, Fuelweaver (during spawing fase), Dragonfly and maybe Klaus Krapus and Deer
8:40 i think it would make more sense to have ingredients spoil slower actually, because that would nicely complement the battle crock pot idea that you would need ingredients specifically for. i dont really like how you just get more from seasonings in that tree either, i would personally like to see being able to mix the spices into brand new effects that are still similar to what we have in the base thing. for instance, mixing salt with honey would increase sanity gained instead of health, or pepper and salt would give you wigfrid-like health on hit effect, and so on. would give warly more unique effects for himself instead of better and longer versions, going for versitality.
i really like the freakin assault shaker, giving a whole definition to "peppering" your enemies, idc if it would be under or overpowered, i like it a lot, possibly just for the pun alone.
butchering perks are very nice additions, getting milk from goats too. hunting can get annoying with you having to drop down the health of the animal down every time, spiders in early game can be annoying when they dont drop meat when you want them to, and electric goats are so specific for such a specific item, i never bothered with them myself ever, so thats cool
the idea to make other mobs aligned is very interesting and could be very useful for a support character with a support weapon, upgradeable crock pots are amazing too, although idk if having the crock pot always produce max freshness food isnt too much, i think just not having it spoil or only giving it a small freshness boost would be enough
anything i didnt mention i find nice, just dont have anything interesting to say about. i just think they're neat.
overall, as a person who really likes this character but doesnt quite play him becaue he's a bit too niche, i think the character tree idea you presented is amazing and i hope that klei will decide to give him one soon, since he seems to need a bit of a help to get more relevant (i dont say he cant be super powerful, he just kinda feels a bit... stale, or something, you get me prolly)
placing food on the stage hand gives off the stats overtime slowly roting the food in an aroma so you could put a pierogi and then have some healing over time for your allies
pretty interesting! Cool!
Warly’s affinity power: he puts down a crockpot and gives the celestial champion/ancient fuelweaver food, the food is too spicy so they cease to exist
i need to thank you for making skill tree for my main and its amazing, and i think we need this in game
i can only imagine how Maxwell would react to Warly cooking with the fuel
I am very tempted to try and make these ideas into an actual mod to see how fun they are in action.
They seem like really good ideas and I could absolutely see myself returning to being a Warly main or at least making them a top pick of mine with these ideas implemented.
Maybe one or multiple of Warly's Butcher perks could also include a slightly faster killing time towards animals in his inventory, kind of like Woodie with his resource speed gains?
Fantastic idea!!
6:27 THAT IS A RAINWORLD REFERENCE
honestly im hoping for wanda's insight tree, but yeah, warly needs it waayyy more
Drops the greatest hypothetical in history
I can truly say that I'm Warly enjoyer, so I have some "experience" with this wacky gourmet, who would rather die from starvation than eat in a game which name is don't starve ^^
I think active cooking is interesting, particularly it makes Warly become an active buffer and with seasoning enemies, it makes him also debuffer that solves problem with his passive buffiing abilities with spices.
Make there buff prolong is great QoL change and I think instead of giving them more buffs to our chef we can instead make crockpot cooking aura depending on the dish that is cooking, like providing warm instead of sanity if you cook dragonpie or cooling effect if you cook ice cream, it also encourages to actually cook variety of meal, because even with Warlies debuff it can easily be overcome by holy oppiness of 🍖🏀🏀
I think butchering is extra, of course he has some interesting view on our smaller friends.. it's creepy when he says "hello food... uh friend" to smallbird but nah.. I see him more in the milking gouts mood what is fun :D
about alignments I like this idea, the dreaded crockpot for more active cooking style and I so badly want it to follow you like sussy rouse vase by his tiny legs, but what about brilliant crockpot.. I think compared to dreaded it needs more buff, it's cool that food doesn't spoil but other hand dark side can give you pot with dark tentacles and we need like more severe buff to outstand it.
and at last but not list, I want to make bird in Warlies inventory act like it is in a cage like you can give him meat and vegetables and he will fill your inventory with eggs and seeds, if you don't have enough space it will fall out from you
that will allow you to be a bigger variety of food far away from base >^<
so yep, this is end but I have only one stupid idea, what if Wes skiltree instead of buffs that obviously is unfair because he is omnipotent, will provide debuffs, like the chance to slip on ground like on ice and frozen pods and e.t.c
This is awesome, you need to do more of these.
