Back in 2015 I visited LA and my Airbnb was located on Sunset Blvd. You can see it at 35:52, its the black tower on the left side. I had an great view of Downtown LAs skyline .... but now there is the new Netflix building across the street which steals the view ;)

I visit California yearly. This video sums up my experience really well. Overall it's nice and neat, but there's too much driving. Roads, roads, roads and never ending roads. The rest is either some boring retailer/restaurant chain, anonymous office block or somebody's private property. There's a serious lack of public space and without a car you are officially disabled. Whereas I love visiting places where I can ditch my car and walk freely, take the metro, sit down at a cozy little coffee shop, do some people watching, buy stuff to support local businesses, and then walk more. Like in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, London...
