What I absolutely love about Luigi's Mansion 3 is how it combines elements from the previous 2 games! Being able to explore the building like in the first game while having a mission system (kinda) like in the second game, the surreal looking ghosts that you always encounter and the human looking ones for the boss ghosts (just like the first game), etc... And all the other references to LM Dark Moon, mostly the music.
Fun Fact: 3 being set in a hotel with different themed floors is a full circle moment for the series. Mariomike, up until now, my weekend was absolutely awful. This video if even a little bit, made my weekend that much better. Thank you, and I can’t wait to replay the game!
I feel like you missed a VERY important thing about this game: the music. The music in this game is just PHENOMENAL and i loved almost every track, one that particularly stuck with me was Boilerworks (first time) due to how creepy and unsettling it is
This game is a masterpiece, and easily one of the best games on the switch. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is also one of the best looking games on the system. I love how Next Level Games was able to take full advantage of the switch’s power, despite the system being pretty weak overall compared to the Xbox and PlayStation consoles
And here I am hoping something from luigis mansion appears in the new mario and luigi game. Egadd being present for super star saga and partners in time is always a highlight for me. Here is to hoping he is either behind the ship the bros use in brothership or is just randomly on one of the islands. Also would just love it if luigi just got a bros attack that has him pulling out the poltergust or polterpup
Thank you veryyyyyy much fir the amazing video ! Glad to see that the luigi's mansion fanbase is still alive and that some people loved this game as much as I did ! Actually, the third time luigi was in the spotlight was Luigi’s Mansion. The first was Luigi’s hammer toss. It was very simple, it was pretty much just a reskin of ball from Game & Watch. It was a watch, too. see i’m smart mike
I'm gonna disagree about Polterkitty, at least partially. I kind of like going back to the lower floors, because I just find it kind of wasteful to come up with all these creative levels and then go away and never look back. It's neat to see some of the old rooms again in a new context, and see if you remember how to deal with some past obstacles. As a compromise, I'd say Polterkitty should immediately go to a lower floor instead of spending time on the one you just completed.
I love luigis mansion 3, my first game but its kinda hard to play the levels with your own, I always have to look youtube gameplay to see what do i have to do
You made me remember that i haven't finished this game yet, so It made me wanna play it again, and it's an awesome video MarioMikester, cant wait for more videos!
Honestly I’m not a huge fan of the hotel setting. Most of the floors feel too disconnected from each other. They feel like levels rather than actual locations. Still love this game tho
Ironically, the Polterkitty segments that this video talks so disparagingly about are one of a small number of things that actually serve to break away from the "level" formula and try to establish some semblance of a connected building. I enjoyed the Polterkitty segments because they gave me an excuse to do a mission that requires going between multiple floors and return to old places and because it felt more natural and less formulaic than returning to old floors to get the Boos. And since there are only 2 such segments in this entire giant game, I didn't feel like Polterkitty overstayed her welcome. I kind of agree about the hotel theme not being the best due to feeling like levels with the elevator as a level select, but on some level, that might have been a necessary evil. Making a Luigi's Mansion 1 style setting for a game the size of Luigi's Mansion 3 probably would've required the mansion to be an enormous nightmarish labyrinth the size of a Metroid game and with an ungodly amount of backtracking. The backtracking in the original game to turn the power on, search for Mario's belongings, or find a source for the elemental spirit needed for the current puzzle never got too tedious because the game was short, and the mansion was small. Trying to recreate that experience while upscaling it while making it still be fun to play could be difficult.
I think it’s time for king boo to be retired as the main villain of the series. By 3 he’s lost all creepiness and Menes he originally had and him putting people into painting is getting really stale. Like it was cool the first time and it was fine in dark moon but now I’m starting to think that’s the only trick He has up his sleeve. Him also getting captured and then released in every game is also getting really stale. 3 had the perfect opportunity to introduce a new main villain with Helen gravely but not only did they barely do anything with her causing her to be nothing but missed potential. They also brought king boo back and barely do anything with him until the end of the game where he has is very easy and anti climactic final boss fight. It’s the worst of both worlds. I think it’s time The series gets a new villain, but I highly doubt Nintendo will ever do that and they’re probably just gonna stick with king boo forever
I doubt their going to replace the main villain of series. I do agree that he needs a power boost considering he doesn't really do much that really warrants him as a threat. I imagine for the next one they either make him the size of a building or go the Wonder route and have him possess something to give him a new look.
I mean King Boo is sort of like Luigi's Bowser, he has an icon Status for this franchise. I don't think he'll ever be fully retired as the main villain. At most we'll maybe get a few games with different antagonists before returning to King Boo. Sort of like how Wario was the villain for that one Mario Bros game or how Bowser Jr was the main villain in Sunshine with Bowser only acting as a side antagonist before having the big Boss fight at the end.
Okay, but King Boo's rage and complete intolerance of Luigi in the 3rd game was a very good change, and it made him seem much more menacing. But yeah, he is clearly the Bowser of the series and is never going to truly leave. If they keep making unique changes to his powers and strength, they would be able to make it work.
About polter kitty, yes, she is annoying when you play the game multiple times, but I think she’s a very nice edition to the game for people who play it for the first time. All games have something annoying, right?
3 did the open up the door to different locations for Luigi to explore. That being said though, I think it did play it safe in a way since despite being a new location, king Boo isn't as big of a threat as last time and Gravely isn't really that interesting of a character beyond having a one-sided crush.
LM3 is a near masterpiece. My only very nitpick criticism is i wish princess Daisy was included in the game. And i wish all the floors were more interconnected via secret staircase or passages(similar to metroid fusion). Other than that the game is superb and near masterpiece.
Luigi’s mansion 3 is amazing, I just started playing it again but I did notice something about it I feel like it loses the vibe and atmosphere that the first game brought, the spooky, atmosphere and the creepy rooms and floors. Aside from the first and second floors 3 doesn’t have this atmosphere and the later floors are too vibrant and color full for this kind of series. Dark moon had a similar issue but there the mansions had a somewhat creepy atmosphere. I think the reason they stoped the creepy spooky atmosphere is because they saw how a lot of young kids got scared or at least spooked out by the first game so they made it less scary to get more people too play, which makes sense but some people like me really enjoyed that spooky atmosphere from the first game. 3 isn’t a bad game because of this I just wanted to point it out
Lol. I deliberately searched trying to find someone who loves this game as much as I do. Not being a huge fan of the first and never having played the second I wasn't really expecting much out of this. I was simply looking for something I hadn't played yet and borrowed it from my daughter. Within a few hours my jaw was on the floor. The puzzles are clever, the combat exhilarating, the boss fights are challenging and the animation (something very important to me) is of the best I've seen in a game. Full stop. This is Nintendo at the top of their game. The reason I play video games! A perfect 10 easy. Edit: wait...this wasn't developed by Nintendo?..the guys who makes the mediocre sports titles? Okay, now my jaw is really on the floor. I don't know exactly what Nintendo's process is with 3rd parties but considering Metroid Prime, Minish cap and this it's like they share some of their secret fairy dust or something.
Luigi's Mansion 3's sales have been so fucking good that I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo starts considering it to be one of their heavier hitters now.
10:25 Did we play the same game here? My biggest issue with the game was how forced the floor themes were. What made the OG Luigi's Mansion stand out was how oddly grounded and realistic the mansion was. The hotel in 3 had absolutely none of that, it just felt like video game levels with a few exceptions. The ancient Rome floor, the Egyptian desert floor, the plant floor, etc., all just served to break my immersion in the game because they felt like Mario levels. IMO, what made mansion in the first game so memorable so much was how LITTLE it felt like a Mario level, the lack of what you'd expect made it actually kind of unsettling.
Dang, I was really enjoying the video. But I think you’re comparing the separate mansions in Darkmoon to the different floors in LM3 unfairly. I don’t think Darkmoon’s separate mansions themes were just shoehorned in them. They are intricately placed with a lot of thought and care to them. All 5 locations, the Gloomy Manor, Haunted Towers, Old Clockworks, Secret Mine, and the Treacherous Mansion, have a base theme. But when you explore them during the missions, all have life and character to them. Along with the music enhancing the atmosphere. My favorite example being the Secret mine. When you enter it all seems sorta cozy, being in a small little cabin in the coldest part of the woods. But all of a sudden you’re falling deep and have to now explore the secret mine in order to return to the surface. All the while the eery chilling music creeps up your spine, reminding you that you’re not welcome and aren’t supposed to be here. And that’s only describing the first mission in that mansion. Every mission across all mansions have creepy scenario’s you get to experience. Another being the Gloomy Manor mission when you fight your first Poltergeist ghost. Where, after completing the previous mission, E. Gadd detects a strange signal now coming from the Manor. It’s music, coming from the Manor’s main piano. When you enter the mansion to find the source, you can hear the loud music coming from the piano. It plays the whole time, replacing the usual music you’d be hearing whilst exploring the manor. Stuff like this is in LM3 but not as good as it did in Darkmoon in my opinion. Which kind of sucks because a lot of what is in Luigi’s Mansion 3, is built off of Darkmoon. I’ve been playing the first game and LM3 a lot in anticipation of the Darkmoon HD remaster. LM3 obviously has the best visuals and animation, being the most recent game. But doesn’t have as much fun gameplay and replayability as the previous two games. It still is really expressive, even a little bit more so than Darkmoon. But Darkmoon will always be my favorite. Anyways you’ve done a fantastic video and I can’t wait to see more from you.
My only real complaint about this game is the slam ability makes fighting the ghosts way too easy. Not only does it do a ton of damage to the main target but it damages other ghosts near you too! I really wish this game had a higher difficulty option.
it sad that this is the last time we would ever have a luigi Mansion game or a mario game after wonder with Charles Martinet as mario's voice since he is retiring (note that this might not be the case but as the end of June 2024 it might be so)
"That game was none other than..." Me: Mario is Missing "Mario is Missing!" ... Not gonna lie, as a VERY WEIRD kid who was obsessed with history, I feel slightly vindicated now ^_^ But I love the Luigi's Mansion series, too :D
Am I the only one who noticed that Polterpup had pupils at the end of Dark Moon (like all the other ghosts) and in Luigi's Mansion 3 he just doesn't anymore for some reason?
I can't believe they really saw 2 (arguably the worst in the series) and saw the polterpup chase sequences (objectively the worst part of the game) and thought "Lets do that again"
I've been playing this game for a few weeks on and off. I'm on the tenth floor I think, and I'm really not enjoying it that much. I can't believe this is the same series as the phenomenal first game. There's no atmosphere in this one. The first was genuinely unsettling and uncanny. I miss it. I want the series to go back to that. This one felt so much more babyish.
I absolutely loved this game, id go so far as to say that it was my favorite switch game, my only complaint being it is a little too bright for my tastes
Heres hoping the next luigis mansion comes with a cool switch2 edition or something. I bought a 3ds for LM2, and i only bought a switch when LM3 came out. Hoping for LM4 to be like a whole ghost town or something big and open world. 🙏 Whatever it is, ill buy it on day 1 😂
I hate it. Dark moon was bad too. Feels more like a side scroller than the first one. I want a mansion that is fun to explore full of secrets like the first game.
naw thats wild i beat dark moon the day i got it i felt so sad it ended so quickly no way LG3 shorter 😭i spent so many hours and i never even beat the game
There were two major problems with this game: 1) the controls were weirdly difficult to use, particularly the aiming. I think it was because it used motion controls or something, I forget exactly, but it was SO frustrating to aim. And 2) there should be some real use for money. It's not actually that interesting to collect money when there's no real point to it. They should have had a selection of upgrades to buy so you felt like you were working towards something other than "number go up". I know you could buy bones or something, but that was about it. It felt empty.

The ancient Rome floor, the Egyptian desert floor, the plant floor, etc., all just served to break my immersion in the game because they felt like Mario levels. IMO, what made mansion in the first game so memorable so much was how LITTLE it felt like a Mario level, the lack of what you'd expect made it actually kind of unsettling.
hey Mike its me, this video is pretty nice 👍
here it is
Great Video :D
I recently replayed it after 5 years I and I somehow forgot how good it was! Definetly the best LM Game.
Y'ALL WAKE UP MARIOMIKE HAS POSTED
just started streaming this masterpiece of a game
I can't wait for green Mario 4th spook house.
My only real complaint about this game is the slam ability makes fighting the ghosts way too easy. Not only does it do a ton of damage to the main target but it damages other ghosts near you too!
I really wish this game had a higher difficulty option.
it sad that this is the last time we would ever have a luigi Mansion game or a mario game after wonder with Charles Martinet as mario's voice since he is retiring (note that this might not be the case but as the end of June 2024 it might be so)
"That game was none other than..."
Me: Mario is Missing
"Mario is Missing!"
... Not gonna lie, as a VERY WEIRD kid who was obsessed with history, I feel slightly vindicated now ^_^ But I love the Luigi's Mansion series, too :D
Am I the only one who noticed that Polterpup had pupils at the end of Dark Moon (like all the other ghosts) and in Luigi's Mansion 3 he just doesn't anymore for some reason?
he's outside the dark moons range
Hands down this is one of my favorite games on the Switch. ☺️☺️
How about for Luigi's Mansion 4 if it is set in a haunted theme park!
Yo finally🔥
I got stuck on this game and gave up on it. I need to play it again
Luigi’s mansion 3 was really good and I and I think it was far better than the games that preceded it
Mariomikester’s Basement
*sight* fine, ill play luigi's mansion 3 again
Interesting that you'd call 3 the most unique as despite the hotel, I think it's closer to 2 than 2 was to 1.
Still mad Daisy didn't appear in Luigis mansion 3
Great video father mariomikester
mariomeister back again
WEEGEE 🔥📣🗣️💯
I can't believe they really saw 2 (arguably the worst in the series) and saw the polterpup chase sequences (objectively the worst part of the game) and thought "Lets do that again"
I've been playing this game for a few weeks on and off. I'm on the tenth floor I think, and I'm really not enjoying it that much. I can't believe this is the same series as the phenomenal first game. There's no atmosphere in this one. The first was genuinely unsettling and uncanny. I miss it. I want the series to go back to that. This one felt so much more babyish.
bro I want a never dying dog too
Peetah.. The horse is here
I absolutely loved this game, id go so far as to say that it was my favorite switch game, my only complaint being it is a little too bright for my tastes
1:56 actually it’s the 4th 🤓☝️(LM 3DS is the third)
Um it's actually the third, since LM 3DS was a remake to the original game 🤓☝
I don’t know how you haven’t gotten the A rank yet because it’s extremely easy
Fun fact: You can't get the highest rank unless you beat the online multiplayer thingy
Another fun fact: *O N L I N E M U L T I P L A Y E R*
Heres hoping the next luigis mansion comes with a cool switch2 edition or something. I bought a 3ds for LM2, and i only bought a switch when LM3 came out.
Hoping for LM4 to be like a whole ghost town or something big and open world. 🙏 Whatever it is, ill buy it on day 1 😂
The game came out in 2019????
I liked lm3 but I remember thinking the slam attack gameplay gets way too repetitive for me.
I hate it. Dark moon was bad too. Feels more like a side scroller than the first one. I want a mansion that is fun to explore full of secrets like the first game.
Heard it’s good
I have to play this game!😅
so basically, it's good because of animations
naw thats wild i beat dark moon the day i got it i felt so sad it ended so quickly no way LG3 shorter 😭i spent so many hours and i never even beat the game
Luigi Mansion one is the best
There were two major problems with this game: 1) the controls were weirdly difficult to use, particularly the aiming. I think it was because it used motion controls or something, I forget exactly, but it was SO frustrating to aim. And 2) there should be some real use for money. It's not actually that interesting to collect money when there's no real point to it. They should have had a selection of upgrades to buy so you felt like you were working towards something other than "number go up". I know you could buy bones or something, but that was about it. It felt empty.
