@@hackthedmv just finished and I passed! Just wanna let you know that the driver took me on a different route then the Flamingo ones on your channel have incase you wanted to know. Thanks so much for the videos though!
@@Vegas_Bug Congrats. If you can remember the route you took, please let us know and we will post for other teens to follow. Simple directions will do (left turns and right turns). I know it's hard to recall but if you can, others will appreciate. Drive safe.
@@hackthedmv take a right out of the parking lot, then another right onto W flamingo road until you get to durango and flamingo, then take a left onto S durango and then take a right onto peace way. Go through the school zone, and then take a right onto El capitan. Follow el capitan until you reach W desert inn and then take a right. Follow down west desert inn until you reach S cimarron and take a right onto cimarron. Go down until you reach the DMV, then go into the parking lot and park. Hope this helps! :) Edit: also if you happen to make another video on this route can can u put a reminder that when you reach the first school zone to yield to the children when they get to the crosswalks. I cant really remember right but im pretty sure the crosswalk is faded and the only “proof” that its where it is a sign that can be blocked depending if a car is parked infront of it and the turn into the school itself. Also parents will be very pushy if youre taking the test while school gets out, one driver drove between me and a parked car when i was stopped for the kids crossing. Also when you take a right onto el capitan there is another “school zone 25 when children present” but the road is 35 and its really hard to see some of the kids because they will come out of a side street called W rochelle at the very end of the school zone. Hopefully this helps! And just let me know if you want me to clarify anything else :)
i watched this video and the other two routes, i’m familiar with majority of the roads because i have driving classes 3x a week. my test is tomorrow and im super nervous, but the answers in the comments helped a lot! i hope to pass the first try, thanks for the video :)
I have a few (not so few) questions! 1. 6:59 when turning right on red. Is it okay to do so? And if I decide to stay stopped until it turns green, would I be docked points? 2. For a school zone, do I only go 15 mph if I see any children present and/or the lights are flashing. and if so, do I drive the normal speed limit (35mph) if none of these conditions are present? 3. 3:31, also I know that when both cars are met in an intersection at the same time, the car on the right goes first. However the car on the left was already there? Should the driver in this video break and let the white car go and then make the left turn? 4. 4:23 also, say there was a car going left already and since we don’t have a stop sign. Would it be proper to yield and break until the car passed and then make a right turn? 5. 5:04 also this is just a confirmation question, wouldn’t we be docked points or automatic fail if we did a wide right turn into the second lane to the right? Instead of turning into our right lane? 6. 6:06 if there was a pedestrian (standing on the side) wanting to cross at the crosswalk ahead of our crosswalk in front of us. Should we stop and let them cross? Or keep going unless they’re already in the crosswalk walking. 7. 9:58 for this wide lane, if we use our signal to move closer to the left side. Would that be alright? Also is it proper to make sure you’re more on the left side instead of the center of the lane? Thank you for taking your time to read my questions!
Hey, we like questions. We have answers. 1. You will not be docked points if you decided to wait until a light turns green when making a right hand turn. We suggest students only make the turn if they feel REALLY comfortable and there is no oncoming traffic. Otherwise, just wait it out. 2. If none of the speed restrictions (conditions) are present, you can maintain normal speeds. One thing to be aware is that school zones restrictions are in effect all year long, even during the summer as some schools stay open. 3. The white car on the left has a Stop Sign - so he needs to yield to you whether you are proceeding straight - or - turning onto their street. Also, it is important when driving to 'do what is expected' or follow the rules of the road. Don't try and be polite and wave people ahead when it is clearly not their turn. 4. If there was a car coming towards you, who wanted to turn left in front of you, he would have to wait until you were clear of the intersection (either proceeding straight or turning right as you mentioned). Since he is turning into YOUR lane, you have the right of way. Per above, do what is expected. 5. When turning onto a road with two lanes in your direction, it is technically OK to go wide into the second lane, as long as it is safe and the lines on the road are dashed. However if this comes up on the test I would do the conservative thing and turn into the closest lane. BONUS COMMENT. AT 5:39 WHEN TURNING LEFT ONTO EL CAPITAN OUR DRIVER WAS NOT IN THE DESIGNATED LEFT HAND TURN LANE. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DOCKED. I THINK THE MARKINGS WERE FADED AND HE DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL TOO LATE. 6. If they are clearly looking to cross the street in a crosswalk, I would slow and even stop to permit them to cross. Kind of a judgement thing, but if they give clear indication of an intent to cross I would let them proceed. 7. You've identified one of the biggest challenges we see with many of the streets in LV, including S. Cimarron. Often lane markings are so faded you can't tell whether it is a wide lane or 2 lanes. I think you can see in our video that our driver, after about 10 seconds, realized that it was most likely a wide lane and shifted over to the left. In that case you technically don't have to use your turn signal and shouldn't. Our suggestion is that when in doubt, align yourself to the center lane like we are at 10:09. That way it doesn't matter if it is one lane or two, you are positioned properly. Hope that makes sense. If you enter a road and don’t know the speed limit, can u ask the instructor? Because sometimes when u enter a road from a residential area it doesn’t really say until a couple of seconds
Nan, examiners should only give you directions, and not give you tips on driving skills. I understand your question though, as sometimes you may not encounter a speed limit sign on a road for several blocks. But typically in Vegas 35 / 45 MPH on main roads, 25 MPH in subdivisions. Please stay below the limits, but within 5 MPH of the limit as you can lose points for driving too slow.
@@hackthedmvthats not really a tip tho if you directed me to turn somewhere but i cant see any signs thats telling me the limit whats the problem with letting me know i dont get it thats bad for me to ask
@@GRINCH_MASTERS Some examiners will tell you what the limits are when you turn onto a street, and you haven't seen a sign yet. For residential areas, I would assume 25 MPH . For the main streets around the DMV, I would assume 35, especially if it is two lanes in your direction. Good luck and let us know how you did after the test.
5:40 Make sure you are in the left turn only lane when making a left turn onto El Capitan Way. The driver in the video turned left from the middle lane and if I remember correctly that is an automatic fail. Good Luck!
Yes, thanks for catching this for our viewers. Our drivers make mistakes as well, and in Vegas it can be hard as many of the road markers are quite faded. Appreciate your post. 👃
hi i have a few questions. 1. will you be demerited if you stop at a stop sign at the line or do you have to stop before the stop sign and then inch up to the line? 2. can you go more than 5 mph under the speed limit in residentials or will you be marked down for slow driving? 3. if a sign says to go 15 mph when children are present and there is a group of kids do you stop going 15 when it says end school zone or just when the kids are farther behind you ? 4. in unmarked wide single lanes, can you drift to the center without the examiner instructing you and do you turn your signal for this?
1. You should come to a full and complete stop behind the white limit line which is typically right where the stop sign is. If there is no limit line, then your front bumper should be just behind where the stop sign is, or short of the cross walk if one is marked. If your view is obstructed from the left, it is fine to FIRST come to a full and complete stop behind the sign, then inch forward until you can see it is safe to go. We call this 'creep and peep'. 2. I would keep it as close to that as possible. IE if a 25 MPH zone, I would not go much below 20 MPH unless in a school zone. 3. Just do what the sign says. Once you are past where the kids are, you can resume your normal speed, but I would keep it checked back a little until you feel you are free of the school zone. Also, treat crossing guards as kids. If you see them standing at a cross walk, even if no kids present, best to slow to 15 MPH or whatever the signs indicate. 4. If you are staying within your lane, just adjusting to position yourself more in the center, you do not have to signal. Signal only when changing lanes. In Vegas, many of the painted lines get faded over time, this is particularly true around the N. Decatur DMV. Become familiar with the area by looking at our videos and driving around the area. Thanks for the questions, good luck and please subscribe as it will help others find our channel on RUclips. Good Luck!!!!!
I just failed the 2nd time today. The judge said i didnt maintain the speed very well. She said we couldnt drive less than 39mph if the speed limit is 45
Typically the standard is to maintain speeds below the posted limits - and - reasonable given road and traffic conditions. Seems like this examiner likes to see you keep it within 5 MPH of the posted speed. Try and keep speeds fairly consistent, not speeding up or slowing down unless required due to traffic, turns, etc. It is common for young drivers to drive too slowly, especially when they are nervous. Good luck, 3 times a charm, but don't rush your last test. Take the time to practice.
Examiners can always modify routes, but the reality is they need to check off number of specific skills (i.e. unprotected left turns, lane change, etc.) so they tend to stick to the same courses. Most of the feedback we continue to get is that our routes are pretty accurate - you can find some additional ones at www.hackthedmv.com. good luck and let us know how you did.
Bryton, you are correct. Our driver made an error turning from Twain on to El Capitan. There was a left hand turn lane which should have been used in the video. Good catch, and good luck! Let us know how you did.
Marinel, wishing you good luck on your exam. Our suggestions ..... Spend time driving the routes in your area so you are familiar with the roads, be early for the test so you don't feel rushed, and relax. The examiners are not trying to trick you - they want you to pass as long as you can demonstrate good basic driving skills. There may be more maps or videos at www.hackthedmv.com . You got this! HDMV
Took my exam today, sadly I failed. My instructor took a different route though. I’m really confused on turning right at a red light. I thought it’s okay to turn right as long as it’s clear.
Yes, you have the option to turn right on a red as long as the traffic coming from your right is clear. If you are not comfortable, then simply wait for the light to change, either is fine. And always be scanning for pedestrians. Good luck.

I deeply apologize for bombarding you with questions, but I just want to be sure. I was wondering if the car in front of you is driving too slow, will they take off points for reducing your speed? Because I don’t want to be tailgating
Good question. You will never lose points for reacting appropriately to events on the road, driving too slow in order to maintain a safe distance from a car in front of you is the correct 'rule of the road'. You have the option to change lanes if there are 2 lanes in your direction. If you were to decide to do that I would let the examiner know just in case he wants to stay in your current lane (like maybe you need to make a turn ahead and you are in the correct lane). If a situation like that was to develop, I would simply state "I 'm planning on passing this car as he is driving well below the speed limit." Good luck!!!
Am I permitted to turn right into Cimarron at a red light? As long as there is no oncoming traffic and pedestrians right? My friend failed his test turning right on a red.
Ethan, we assume you are turning right onto Cimarron off of W Flamingo - based on our knowledge of that intersection a RH turn on a red is legal. It is possible that your friend violated one of the rules below. Drivers may turn right at a red light in Nevada as long as the following six conditions are true: - The driver is in the extreme right lane; - The driver displays the right-turn signal; - The driver comes to a complete stop prior to turning; - There are no traffic signs prohibiting right turns on red lights; - The driver has the right-of-way; and - It is safe to make a right turn (there is no pedestrian or motor traffic) - If a traffic lantern also has a right-turn arrow lens, then drivers may make a right on red only if the green arrow is illuminated.
Nope, you can scratch your nose . 😊 But return your hands to the steering wheel and always maintain lane control, that is one of the things that they are watching for. You'll do great, just try and relax before the exam.
9:58 when the person turn right into Cimarron, are there two lanes on that road? because I notice a little further the person navigated a little to the left to get closer to the center lane.
Hi, There is a common problem in Las Vegas where many of the lane markings (solid or dashed white lines) become faded over the years. Often it is hard to see if you are in a 2 lane or 1 lane road. In this case, the driver assumed it was a 2 lane in her direction, but after driving a little ways and not seeing a dividing line on her side of the road just cozied up to the center line. When in doubt, best to assume 1 lane and hug the center. You can also ask your driving instructor if you are still taking lessons. Best of luck.
A continuación, algunos comentarios y sugerencias. 1. Hack (I used ChatGPT translate for this post. Hope it all makes sense)
Do you mind telling me what the rules are for bike lanes? When turning right do we enter the bike lane before the dotted line and making the right turn?
Rule #1 is to keep a minimum of 3 feet from any bicyclists. When turning right you will need to enter the bike lane either when the dotted lines start - or in some cases there will be a sign indicating this. Although it may feel like you should stay in your lane all the way up to the intersection, the 'safety thinking' is that by shifting into the bike lane, you block any bikes from hitting your car while you are turning. Treat it as a lane right hand lane change, and check your mirrors and over the shoulder check before steering right into the bike lane. It is a violation to cross the solid line designating a bike lane other than under certain circumstances, like turning into an alley or driveway. Good luck.
Depends on the signs. Typically they will say during specific hours - or - when children present. So if you do not meet those conditions you can proceed at normal speeds for that road. Remember that school zones are in effect all year, as some schools are in operation during the summer. Bottom line, just follow the instructions on the sign and you'll do great.
Yes, you should always abide by school zone speed restrictions throughout the year. So respect the signs, and look for qualifiers like 'when children present'. Good luck.
Does “when children are present” mean when kids are inside the school at all or just if kids are walking around the area (such as before or after school)?
This should be simple but it depends on the type of sign. 1. If it simply says "when children present" treat it as if you see children and slow down to the restricted speed limit (usually 15 mph). 2. If there are flashing signals for the school zone, you can proceed at normal speeds if the signs are NOT flashing. There is more information here but frankly, they make it hard to understand. nevada.public.law/statutes/nrs_484b.363. If the examiner challenges you as to why you slowed down if there was no one around simply respond "I wanted to be in compliance with NRS 484B.363" 😀
Rose, when make multiple lane changes it is best to treat them as separate lane changes. Turn signal on, then off when you center yourself in the new lane. Then go through the whole sequence of SMOG (Signal, Mirrors, Over-the-shoulder check, Go) before making the second lane shift. This makes your intent clear to cars in front and behind you. Good luck on your exam, check out our other videos at www.hackthedmv.com.
If i come across an opportunity to turn right on red will they give me points if i just wait for a green? I have been honked at many times for this while practicing
Carson, turning right on an red light is purely optional. During an exam, I would err on the side of caution and not make a right turn unless you were really comfortable that there would not be any issues with approaching traffic. Also, if you do decide to turn, make sure you are scanning for pedestrians as they can sneak up on you sometimes. Good luck.
It sounds like you know what the issue is and it should be easy for you to become familiar with your dashboard. Driving over the limit, or significantly under the limit is a critical error but easy to avoid. A few tips. - Be familiar with the speed limits on the main streets around the DMV. - Typically (but not always) main streets will be 35 MPH and residential areas 25 MPH. - Sometimes when you pull onto a street, you may be in a section between signs and you may not know what the limit is. Often the examiner will tell you as it's not something you would be expected to know. Good luck on your next test and let us know how you did. YOU GOT THIS !!!!
In the residential area it is 25 MPH between Cimarron and Buffalo. We believe when you cross W Buffalo heading east (when you are outside of the residential area and by the highschool) it is increased to 30. Bottom line though, watch for the signs and practice the routes around the DMV. Good Luck!
How can you tell the difference between residential areas and commercial areas? It looks like hes going over 25mph in residential areas but im still not sure if it’s residential because i cant tell. I thought residential areas had houses around even the ones where the brick walls are someone please help!! My test is in 2 weeks
In most cases, but not all, residential areas will be marked as such. Or seeing a 25 MPH is a sign that you are entering a residential area. Speeds are reduced for obvious reasons - cars and driveways, sidewalks and pedestrians. Our drivers try to keep to posted speeds - sometimes the videos appear faster than they actually are. Good luck on your test.
Yes you can stop iof necessary. Treat this as a normal right hand turn lane - enter when you get the dashed lines (typically 200' from the intersection) and if the light is red you should come to a complete stop. Hope you do well.
@ 10:00 i assume the lane is one wide lane instead of two, do I have to turn on my left turn signal to get closer to the lane marking? also @ 6:42 the lane says "only right" does that mean u must turn right to go on to the street right after it or was it a signal for turning right on W. Desert Inn Rd.?
Hi, good catch on the Right Turn Only at 6:42. That is a little misleading, as the street markings appear to be referring to W.Desert Inn not the cross street before. It was simply to give drivers notice that if they are turning right they should be in that lane. WRT to right turn Cimarron at 10:00 you can see where our drivers were a little confused. It appears to be single lane, so after the turn once they realized that they shifted over to the left. You do not have to use your turn signals when aligning yourself within your lane (BUT make sure you use them if changing lanes). These are both good questions, I suspect you are going to do well. @@hackthedmv thank you for the help. Also, flamingo has a bunch of bike lanes around... when I am trying to make a right turn, am I allowed to go in the bike lane regardless if the line is solid or dotted?
what is the speed limit when you turn right on twain? i’m taking my test for the second time on friday and I got points off the last time i took it for not going the right speed(i didn’t know the speed limit on the road, but as soon as i saw the sign i adjusted my speed) i really don’t wanna fail again but i have more faith in myself this time.
another question, should i take the initiative to switch lanes if i end up stuck behind a slow driver or should i wait for the instructors word? or should i ask if it’s okay to pass them?
Hi, I assume you are turning right onto Twain from S. Buffalo. In that case, the speed limit is 30 MPH although when you first make the turn you are in a school zone so a 15 MPH restriction applies if there are children present. If you take one of the other courses, the stretch of W. Twain between S. Buffalo and Cimarron is only 25 MPH as this is a residential area. Positive Karma this time. 👃 It would be great if you would come back after the test and leave any suggestions you may have for other drivers.
It is certainly OK to pass. i would only consider this when you have 2 or more lanes in your direction, and make sure you signal, check mirrors and do your over the shoulder checks. Technically if someone is driving WAY below the speed limit, it would be a safety issue for you so it can make sense to go around them.
the driver in the video made a mistake turning left from twain to el capitan way, just watched this video recently and realized I made the same mistake during my road exam, gotta do better next time i guess haha 😂 P.S. what’s the speed limit in Twain?
Zach, good catch. Our driver missed the left hand turn lane going turning left from Twain onto El Capitan. Unfortunately no signage, and the lane markers are a little faded. To our knowledge, the posted speed limit on Twain is 35 but it would be good for you to confirm before your test, in case they take you down this road. Hope you do well. HDMV
Nan, the best way to think about it is this. 1. Always come to a full and complete stop just short of the white limit line. 2. If you have adequate visibility to the left to make a RH turn, proceed when traffic is clear. 3. If you cannot see adequately to the left, it's always permissible to "creep and peep", creep forward slowly a few feet so you can check for traffic, stop if necessary, and proceed when clear. Good luck, all those high concrete fences can make some intersections a little tough. Good luck on your test and let us know how you did.
When you return to the DMV parking lot, you will be directed to an area where there are signs indicating dedicated parking spots for people returning from their road test. Good luck and our advice is to run the routes that we have posted as it will familiarize you with the roads. You should also start your route by backing out of a parking spot as you will be required to do this on your actual road test. Good luck and let us know how you it went for you.
Best to stay ~ 5 MPH below the limit. Be mindful of the speed of other cars , but do not exceed the speed limit even if others are. They are not being tested, you are. Good luck on your test!!!

I just failed my driving test for the second time, got flagged for quite a bit said I took too long to turn on a flashing yellow and also that i was 3 over which failed me, and also that i was looking around too much? any tips for my third try please
Hi, sorry to hear that but hopefully if you spend some more time behind the wheel you will be fine next time. You may want to consider spending more time with a driving instructor and sharing with them your prior experiences and score sheets. In general, you should NOT exceed the speed limit, and try and stay within 5 MPH of the limit. If you go below 10 MPH of the limit you may lose points (too slow). There is a long list of items that they can fail you on. Here is a pretty comprehensive list from nevada drive academy. -Consistently speeding -Cutting off another driver -Failure to stop for a school bus with its arm out or red lights flashing. -Weaving or straddling the lines -Stopping at a green light for no apparent reason -Stopping on the RR tracks -Driving in the bike lane -Not changing lanes if there is a bike in the lane next to you -Backing over a curb -Hitting a curb driving or turning a corner -Failure to yield at a stops sign -Not yielding to cars making U-Turns. -Not yielding to pedestrians. -Poor attitude -Driving with one hand -Crossing the stop line or not coming to a complete stop -Failure to react to a hazardous condition -Taking the wrong lane when turning -Failure to follow the examiner's instructions -Too much hesitation or overall lack of confidence -If the examiner has to tell you to "stop!" or has to grab the steering wheel…
@@hackthedmv Hey thank you so much, sadly was flagged for going three over but definitely consistent speed and confidence is something I’ll work on! Thanks for the long list of things tjing flag that really helps to know what to work on, I’ll continue watching your videos and my next test is in July and will report back, thanks again! If I stop before the line completely at a stop sign and then creep forward to see better would I be flagged ?
Examiners are evaluating you on lane control, both on straightaways and turns. A moderate wide turn would usually be a minor fault as long as you stay within both lanes. I suggest you look at all of our videos for the DMV you are going to at www.hackthedmv.com. Some of the road markings are faded and it is good to check out all of the routes and get familiar with the turns. We have 3 routes mapped on our main website.
Hi. I have couple questions, if you don't mind. 1. Should I drive 15mph on school zones eventhough no school/no pedestrians? Or should I maintain my speed as long as I yield? I understand the flashing yellow light means yield but I should keep my speed (if i'm not mistaken) 2. What is the good time to get the driving test? 😅.When is the least traffic? Thank you so much for your help! Sorry, I'm so nervous.
I'll answer the easy one first. The best time to reserve is between 9am and 11am. Traffic is typically lighter, and, well, examiners are probably a little fresher and less grumpy. They're human just like the rest of us. WRT school zones, you can proceed at normal posted speeds unless the condition for the speed restriction is present (ie flashing lights, children are present, etc.) . Be aware that even during the summer months, the school zone restrictions are enforced as a few schools remain open. Its natural to be nervous, pretty much everyone is. The most proactive thing you can do is spend as much time as possible on the routes near the DMV to get highly confident in all the roads, turns, etc. There may be some additional routes / maps at www.hackthedmv.com depending on which DMV you end up selected. Good catch. We have had almost 12k views on that video and you are the first to note this. You are correct. There is a right hand turn lane into Starlight Estates, followed by a second right hand turn onto Desert Inn. Our driver missed the first one, the road markings were clear but the sign on the RH side of the road was obscured. This is a tricky situation as it is easy to assume that the road markings are for the upcoming intersection. The technically correct way to navigate the turn would be not be in the dedicated RH turn lane for the 1st turn. However given the confusing way that this is laid out I assume that the examiner would pass on this being an error, Hope this helps.
Not sure what your concern is. You can enter bike lanes 200' before an intersection where the lines typically go from solid to dashed. In order to answer your question I would need more background.

@@hackthedmv I passed yesterday! Thanks for videos :)

@@GRINCH_MASTERS
Some examiners will tell you what the limits are when you turn onto a street, and you haven't seen a sign yet.

@@hackthedmv thank u so much for answering all my questions. I ended up passing 😊
Next week I have the examen, I'm so nervous 🥲
Marian, how did you do?
Am I permitted to turn right into Cimarron at a red light? As long as there is no oncoming traffic and pedestrians right? My friend failed his test turning right on a red.
Ethan, we assume you are turning right onto Cimarron off of W Flamingo - based on our knowledge of that intersection a RH turn on a red is legal. It is possible that your friend violated one of the rules below.
Drivers may turn right at a red light in Nevada as long as the following six conditions are true:
- The driver is in the extreme right lane;
- The driver displays the right-turn signal;
- The driver comes to a complete stop prior to turning;
- There are no traffic signs prohibiting right turns on red lights;
- The driver has the right-of-way; and
- It is safe to make a right turn (there is no pedestrian or motor traffic)
- If a traffic lantern also has a right-turn arrow lens, then drivers may make a right on red only if the green arrow is illuminated.
Will we lose points if we ever lift only one hand off the steering wheel to scratch urself?
Nope, you can scratch your nose . 😊 But return your hands to the steering wheel and always maintain lane control, that is one of the things that they are watching for. You'll do great, just try and relax before the exam.
@@hackthedmv thank you so much! Sorry for bombarding you with questions, I’m just nervous 😅

Tengo algunas preguntas si podrías responderme porfavor porque mi pase mi examen y estoy frustrada honestamente .
A continuación, algunos comentarios y sugerencias.

Good luck.
@@hackthedmv thank you.
Hey I have my test tmr morning do I have to go 15 during school hours or only when there is pedestrian
Do you know during summertime if we should still abide by 15mph in school zones?
If the examiner challenges you as to why you slowed down if there was no one around simply respond "I wanted to be in compliance with NRS 484B.363" 😀
at 8:17 when you have to make multiple lane changes, do you turn of the blinker each time? or have it on until you are done changing lanes?
Rose, when make multiple lane changes it is best to treat them as separate lane changes. Turn signal on, then off when you center yourself in the new lane. Then go through the whole sequence of SMOG (Signal, Mirrors, Over-the-shoulder check, Go) before making the second lane shift. This makes your intent clear to cars in front and behind you. Good luck on your exam, check out our other videos at www.hackthedmv.com.

I need some advice. I failed a driving test of speed limit. I was confused about my dashboard .I thought I was not over. However, I failed 😢
What’s the speed limit at W Twain Ave??
1:00
If there's a red light, can I stop in the broken bike lane? when can I use it?
You do not have to use your turn signals when aligning yourself within your lane (BUT make sure you use them if changing lanes).

another question, should i take the initiative to switch lanes if i end up stuck behind a slow driver or should i wait for the instructors word? or should i ask if it’s okay to pass them?

HDMV
At 5:00, if turning right at w Twain Ave, do u have to stop twice? Or do u stop one and u can just proceed?
Nan, the best way to think about it is this.
1. Always come to a full and complete stop just short of the white limit line.
2. If you have adequate visibility to the left to make a RH turn, proceed when traffic is clear.
3. If you cannot see adequately to the left, it's always permissible to "creep and peep", creep forward slowly a few feet so you can check for traffic, stop if necessary, and proceed when clear. Good luck, all those high concrete fences can make some intersections a little tough. Good luck on your test and let us know how you did.
@@hackthedmv thank u !
For the flamingo test do they make you park in a specific parking spot?
When you return to the DMV parking lot, you will be directed to an area where there are signs indicating dedicated parking spots for people returning from their road test. Good luck and our advice is to run the routes that we have posted as it will familiarize you with the roads. You should also start your route by backing out of a parking spot as you will be required to do this on your actual road test. Good luck and let us know how you it went for you.
@@hackthedmv I passed, what I did wrong was going a little under the speed limit
Do i have to stay on 25/35 exact or can i go 5mph above and go 30/40
Best to stay ~ 5 MPH below the limit. Be mindful of the speed of other cars , but do not exceed the speed limit even if others are. They are not being tested, you are. Good luck on your test!!!
What time is this at?

I just failed my driving test for the second time, got flagged for quite a bit said I took too long to turn on a flashing yellow and also that i was 3 over which failed me, and also that i was looking around too much? any tips for my third try please
Also how much over and under can you go before it’s an automatic fail? As well as what are the main automatic fails they are looking for?
Hi, sorry to hear that but hopefully if you spend some more time behind the wheel you will be fine next time. You may want to consider spending more time with a driving instructor and sharing with them your prior experiences and score sheets.
In general, you should NOT exceed the speed limit, and try and stay within 5 MPH of the limit. If you go below 10 MPH of the limit you may lose points (too slow).
There is a long list of items that they can fail you on. Here is a pretty comprehensive list from nevada drive academy.
-Consistently speeding
-Cutting off another driver
-Failure to stop for a school bus with its arm out or red lights flashing.
-Weaving or straddling the lines
-Stopping at a green light for no apparent reason
-Stopping on the RR tracks
-Driving in the bike lane
-Not changing lanes if there is a bike in the lane next to you
-Backing over a curb
-Hitting a curb driving or turning a corner
-Failure to yield at a stops sign
-Not yielding to cars making U-Turns.
-Not yielding to pedestrians.
-Poor attitude
-Driving with one hand
-Crossing the stop line or not coming to a complete stop
-Failure to react to a hazardous condition
-Taking the wrong lane when turning
-Failure to follow the examiner's instructions
-Too much hesitation or overall lack of confidence
-If the examiner has to tell you to "stop!" or has to grab the steering wheel…
@@hackthedmv Hey thank you so much, sadly was flagged for going three over but definitely consistent speed and confidence is something I’ll work on! Thanks for the long list of things tjing flag that really helps to know what to work on, I’ll continue watching your videos and my next test is in July and will report back, thanks again! If I stop before the line completely at a stop sign and then creep forward to see better would I be flagged ?
@@mercury7235hey, it’s July already! How’d it go?
I make wide turns. Will I fail a test for that?
I understand the flashing yellow light means yield but I should keep my speed (if i'm not mistaken)
Good luck and let us know how you did! And please like and subscribe to our channel as it helps others find us.
@@hackthedmv thank you!
Your videos were very helpful! I passed today 🥹
I'm so glad! Drive safe.
Hi!! Is it the sane route?
@@perlalomeli3991no it’s not but it was still as easy !
During min 6:44 it’s say only and an arrow to the right, but I see the car going straight. What r the rules when we see a similar sign
I’m the winner
Does that mean you passed? If so Congrats 👍
How far is 100 ft??
Not sure what your concern is. You can enter bike lanes 200' before an intersection where the lines typically go from solid to dashed. In order to answer your question I would need more background.
@@hackthedmv sorry for not being specific, I mean how far is 100 ft normally from when you need to signal?
