    I agree w a lot of this idea except the extreme praise and the chocolate rewards bc it is not necessary in my opinion. Glad if worked for you and I appreciate the ideas of rolling up a rug and keeping your eyes on them most of the time.

    Loved this. I am starting to potty train Deacon soon. I think the second child is a little quicker from watching their sibling go. He's going to be 2 in November but he goes all the time I just need to take the plunge! Great great tips I have to agree with you on all of these! Thanks Kate! 💟

    I completely agree that you cannot use pull-ups during the day, but I did find them very helpful at night at the beginning! We actually went straight to regular underwear and he could really feel when he was wet.

    This is perfect timing! I started Tuesday and my son is doing great, but I was feeling clueless on outings. I have only heard of the potette! Love the Little learnerz too! Haven't seen those... Which diaper bag are you carrying so that you can fit your travel potty seat? Thanks for sharing!

      Laura Hansford The Mommy's Helper potty seat fits in all of my diaper bags! It's awesome!

    Informative vid 😊 I have a question. My lil boy is between the kanga care lil trainers sizes. Would you go the smaller size instead of larger in this case? Or should i just buy both sizes? Im in Australia so they are more expensive here.

    Kate! Perfect timing! Taylor literally went potty in the toilet last night before her bath, so today we started potty training! Pee everywhere lol. She's napping now with a diaper, I think we'll do nap time/night time after she turns 2. Thanks for all the tips!!!

      Rachel Richey That's great, Rachel!! She is so smart starting so little! I'm sure she will learn really quickly too. Seems like girls train faster than boys!

She just wait until we have to go some where, and goes on the diaper! 😞 but, we still trying! thanks so much for sharing your tips! 👍😉

    Great video! My daughter had a problem with #2 I gave her lots of prunes and that helped so much and told her we would have a poop parade when she went on the toilet. Omg and when she did we ran around the house singing and dancing about how she went poop on the toilet. My son is 16 months and he sees us go and he's already showing interest but I'm like not already 😂why can't they be small
    Forever? Anyhow great tips I'm nervous to train my son since he's my first boy.

      Hannah Villeneuve We haven't started night training yet, but when we do, I will be using the Lil Learnerz :) We currently use them for nap time and it's been great!

    I just made the plunge and ordered some of the trainers. I am also concerned about my child outgrowing the size with snaps, which is a more unique feature of this brand. I wish all the sizes has snaps. Hoping they will start to make snap options for all sizes and this may be all the trainers I buy for future children.

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  7 лет назад +1

      My son just night trained using these! Super successful, I love them! I think the non-snap version is perfect for night training or children who are day trained as they do not usually have super messy accidents. Even though we just finished needing these, I am putting them away for our next adventure in potty training with baby #3 :)

    Good video, I agree with everything except the rewards, using the bathroom is a normal everyday thing, every human being uses a toilet (in the western world) , why reward a normal behavior? I dont give him candy for walking or putting toys away ect. I also LOVE lil trainerz, they work so well! Thanks for the video.

    This has been so helpful. Would you recommend not using one of those portable potties such as the Baby Bjorn one before starting on the actual toilet?

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  7 лет назад +1

      Yvette Kennedy Glad it was helpful! Do you mean one of the pottys on the floor? You can definitely do that if that is what your child is comfortable with. We didn't because I wanted my kids to get used to the adult toilet faster, but you can definitely try one out. Especially for night training I can see that being useful :)

    How absorbent are the training pants? I know they are not meant to hold all the pee. We are using regular underwear at home but, I would like something else for outings.

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  7 лет назад +1

      TexasMommy2014 My advice for all carpet, is to just be prepared with Resolve Carpet Spray, and loooooots of rags! You'll be doing a lot of laundry, but that's all part of potty training :)

    What do I do when my boy needs to take off his pants complete to go? He doesn’t like having them at his ankles and that makes it so hard when we’re out in public! I’ve had to take his shoes off in public restrooms and that’s no fun...

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  6 лет назад

      You’re right! It is no fun. I’ve had to do that with both of my boys in the past. My advice: go with it. If that is what makes them more comfortable to go, go with it. I know it’s a pain to have to put everything back on, but it’s all temporary. Eventually, they do learn how to do it without doing that ♥️ Hang in there!

    How many training pants would you recommend having on hand? My 2 year old is showing interest (he pulls off his diaper) so I'm not ready but he will go pee in potty so I guess it's time to embrace this stage... thanks!

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  6 лет назад

      Amber Aakre I would say at least 6! So three sets :) That was really all we needed

  • @ananAbell

    Most of our rental home is carpeted... Waaaah and I have let her run "nakey" as she calls it and she (2.5 years) will hold it in for 8 hours while chugging water and screams about sitting on the potty. She now asks to run nakey but still hates the potty. :|

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  7 лет назад

      Anna Hart Ugh, carpet is hard to deal with when potty training 😞 I would give her another couple of months and bribe her with some fancy underwear with her favorite Disney Princess on it. That's how my mom trained my sister when she was learning! Fancy Panties lol

    how long do you allow them to go naked?

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  7 лет назад +1

      Usually about a week! :)

    • @KesandraC
      @KesandraC 7 лет назад

      for how long in one setting? what's the length of time we're aiming for once they're seated on the potty?

    • @kateschwanke
      @kateschwanke  7 лет назад +1

      KesandraC Pretty much, they stay naked from the time they wake up until nap time, then put them in a diaper while they nap. After they wake up, it's back to being naked until bed time. It's really the best way! Once they start getting the hang of staying dry while they're naked, then you can start trying to put underwear on them, assuming they're doing well with going potty on the toilet. It's like an extra little reward :)

    I actually found with boys you should actually fully dress them. Otherwise they don't even realize they are peeing

    The easiest, quickest & most fun potty training is by taking the child to the toilet with plder children of the same gender, moddeling. No books, no toys, very small rewards, there to toilet not to play. UK RNIB nurse.
