Splendide 2000s Broken Handle Replacement

- In this video we show how to replace the handle on a Splendide 2000s Washer/Dryer Combo unit. These handles are prone to failure, but fortunately are fairly easy to replace.
The most difficult task is tracking down the part. The key is to use the Westland part number, Westland 141736. This part may look slightly different in shape, but works just fine. You should be able to find the handle for $50-60 on Amazon using this part number. If you go through a RV parts store, like I did, you can expect to get hit for $90+.

Thanks so much for your video. I had no idea what was wrong when I started my repair. Your info was very helpful. Splendide is sending the part next week.
Glad the video helped! Good luck with the repair!
Awesome, Thanks for putting this together and all the time it took. I especially liked the part about repairing the small cracks ... would have even liked to see a little more on that technique if you use baking soda or some other filler. Nice video
You helped me find the part with the westland part number. Thank you!
Glad we were able to help!!
Tremendous help, thank you.Ordering part today!
Thanks, George! Good luck on the repair!
I had to use a flat bladed screwdriver against the open face of the part of the handle that was still on the door. While pushing in toward the w/d, and slightly right (replicating the normal actuation as if it had a handle. Because it's a force going against the door opening outward my wife helped by pulling on the door.
Just got my replacement off of Amazon for a 2004 Splendide 2000S using either Westland or Splendide part #141736. This handle looks slightly different than the original, but it works. The Splendide manual says part #082299 is the actual part number but everything online referenced to 141736.
This video doesn't show the difficulty getting this all put back together. For me I started the pin only focusing on getting it through the first spring hole, then the handle housing, set the latch in place and then into the latch hole, next the other door hole, then the other end of the spring, finally getting it fully inserted. It was helpful to use the old pin to to align the spring hole sections as you move the pin into the assembly. Also slightly actuating the door handle helped to align door holes to accept the pin.
Great additional tips! Thanks!
Mine's been broken for years I usually just keep a small flat head screwdriver next to the unit I put it underneath the metal latch piece and gently drift it out until I hear the latch click and it pops open
I have the exact same model and my girlfriend broke the handle the 2nd time she was using it. But there is some sort of locking mechanism that keeps the door from being opened when it's going through a cycle, and according to my girlfriend, the door would not open at the end of a cycle. She called tech support and all of their suggestions to get the machine to unlock didn't work. She wound up using a long piece of very strong nylon string to get behind the door and pull the latch manually which did get the door open. We were able to order the same handle kit you got, from the manufacturer, except we only paid $40 plus shipping. The cost of a complete door was $200 with shipping.............. I have a feeling I'm going to find the same type of stress fractures and or broken parts when I get the door apart. I also have a feeling we'll be ordering a new door when all is said and done............ But thanks for this video. It gave me some tips on things to have on hand, like the epoxy and gel super glue................
Good luck with your repair! Hopefully things won’t be too bad once you get it apart. 🤞🏻
Make sure you do NOT remove the phillips screws on the washer/dryer because the nuts are not attached inside cabinet and will fall down to the floor! Now I have to figure out how to get them back on...,looks I will need a RUclips on how to remove the drum!
Ooof! Good tip. Thanks!
Where did you buy the handle?
The part I can't see is the one that's off screen. The spring isn't lining up
I'm having the same problem as he said drama wish he showed the fix
Mine snapped also, cheap plastic seems to be a common problem with Splendide latches . No need to take the door off unless your plastic ring is broken bad like in this video and needs epoxy.
Hope you dont run into it again, but if so lets talk about modeling then printing it in nylon. If you have the old part and pieces we could always build from that. Safe travels.
Can you just buy the handle
What you get is a “handle replacement kit.” It includes the handle, latch, spring and a cute little sticker to remind you not to force the door open. (Apparently it is a common problem.) There does not appear to be a part number for just the handle.

@@carsonsmiller7819 how do you open the door once the handle breaks off?
@@pamelashead8063 I was able to use a small, flat bladed screwdriver to pry up the latch.
Terrible video. U didn’t include the most complicated part of lining up spring!!!!
Sorry you didn't like the video. Please upload a "good" video showing us how to do it!
